I saw this posted earlier. I think the big question is does he release it and thus burn an exploit or does he wait for 4.3 in hopes that it is still there and thus provides a root option for 4.3 as well. I'm not sure which is my preference. The only thing I personally miss by not being rooted is the tethering, which I only use in emergency situations anyway, so its not crucial for me. However, it is nice to have freedom from the carrier release cycle if we get a way to flash roms without an unlocked bootloader.

you got any idea what was going on with the order in which he clicked on things in the about phone menu? was that part of the exploit or what? I couldn't tell if it was doing something or he was just showing you it was the OTA.

Just proving the version.
I would rather that he wait and see if the exploit is still available in 4.3. There's a way to go back to the first build from this update, so if you really need root that badly, you can always just do that. Once SafeStrap is ready, we'll probably see a zip of the update that can be flashed, so I find little reason for him to burn this flaw right now.

You can't. Jcase stated in another thread that the exploit he used wasn't practical for most users so he probably won't release it. Was more a proof of concept

Not sure if anybody ever tried that on a locked device, but I think it should work.
I am not sure if someone already post this but here is my question.
I have had android tablet in the past and have always rooted them for games and TitaniumBackup. I recently got a NOTE 3 from Verizon and was looking to ROOT that also as well but to not avail. For random reasons Verizon locked the boot loader(If I am wrong plz correct me). I just updated to 5.0 Lollipop. Is my device still unrootable ( if that is a term. DERP!!!). The model number is sm-n900v. Can anyone help me? Post links on how to's or anything any help would be grateful. Thank You.
Yea no root
for lollipop 5.0 for verizon note 3, no known root method is out nor available yet.
if you go back to 4.4.4 you'll be able to root some time soon

Wonderful. My extent of developing was putting together some roms (HC and ICS) for the Toshiba Thrive a few years ago, but if I can help in any way to gain root access for Verizon 4.4.4 or 5.0, I'll do what I can.

Hi guys, I'm on bone stock 4.4.4 and Verizon is pushing the 5.0 update as we speak.
I've had the note three on stock for too long and I need some new options for multi window etc so I need root. Am I seeing that a root for 4.4.4 is in progress? If so, I'll stay there, but I really want to strap/update to 5.0 afterwords. Anyone have some thoughts about the difficulty of maintaining root on the switch to 5.0?
i would love to be kept int he loop.. i was on 4.4.2 adn foolishly updated to 4.4.4 i just want root again... and if 5.0 can root i would update too

Yeah, same goes for the AT&T version (v520), no root, no twrp, not even barely any discussions.. Smh, if AT&T didn't give it to me for free i'd probably have just gotten a Nexus lol.. At least you can have fun with those..
I was able to get adoptable storage with the update now with a few adb commands
What version is this Nougat? (letter letter letter number number letter, can also be known as build number, not 7.0 - version of Nougat is obvious enough)
I plan on building AOSP for this, but I would REALLY prefer to match the exact version.
And I can't just run the update on my tablet, it's rooted and unlocked and I don't think I know the procedure to relock it.
Never mind, it said 7.0.0-r1.

I am pretty sure AT&T just released the Android 7 update. Mine is still downloading so i am not really sure if it is indeed Android 7 but it's a 1.2GB update. I was going to post a new thread to let everyone know who has the AT&T version but i can't as i am a new user
Edit- Yup. Mine is now running Android 7.0 with a December 1st security patch

Hmm, weird cuz mine keeps saying "your device is up to date" and it was last updated on January 10th.. But I'm still on 6.0.1..
EDIT: Also wanna add, I downloaded LG Bridge via a recommendation from another site that stated that was the only way the new update would be accepted, and that didn't work either.. When i click "Software Update" it says, "Cannot check the software version, Try again.", so I guess I'm s.o.l. for now..
I deactivated from AT&T when I switched to Verizon last month, but I still use it on WiFi and it works fine so I'm not sure why it's not working..

That is really strange. My guess would be is it hasn't been pushed out to every device yet. I happen to have checked for updates on the day AT&T pushed it out. Their website wasn't even updated yet when i got it. I wouldn't think deactivating it would cause it to lose the ability to update but i am kind of new to android so i am not 100% sure. I would just keep checking for updates or maybe contact AT&T and see if they could give you an answer. They do have a section in the Device Support to display information about software updates. I tried attaching a link to it but i can't as i have less than 10 posts. You can search on google AT&T software updates and it should be the top link. You'll then enter your device and scroll down to software updates. They do have a Troubleshoot and Resolve software updates page you could check out
Sweet. My fido v522 just completed its Nougat update. No more sluggish keyboard......for now. Lol

Thanks, it actually worked. The only difficulty I had was locating the SD card number. In the video the dude first says type sm lists-disk, however, when you actually look at the video later, he typed sm list-disks. That made all the difference.

I notice Wi-Fi issues on my Fido V522 after the nougat update. It would get horrible wifi speeds with a AC 4X4 (1900) network and frequent network drops compared to Marshmallow.

Seems like Xiaomi servers provide {nearly randomly or in-time-changing-trying-to-fix} both 85Mb-size partial OTA and 1Gb-size full OTA to 10.0.15.0
I remember that in Oreo times there was a similar update too

Happened on tubi tv app as well.
Update failed to install for me. I am assuming it is due to me being rooted. Shame, I'll have to see if I can root the update or if not hope a factory image for 10 comes out. Shame we don't have a TWRP and the ability to just flash the updates from there (so that we can inject Magisk again after an update).

Any issues?
Has anyone successfully upgraded TB-X606F to Android 10 and encountered any issues? There are several threads on the Lenovo forum, suggesting the following issues:
- Notifications not working
- Widgets not updating
- Netflix not able to play in HD
- Face unlock over sensitive
- Apps crashing
I've bought this as a xmas gift so wondering whether there are likely going to be issues with upgrading.
I have run into the the system UI crashing and certain video apps only playing audio. Notification seems to be ok. Closing my case no longer puts tablet to sleep. The face unlock seems a little wonky.

Thanks. Are notifications ok with non-Google apps? I read that only non-Google apps seem to be affected.
Also, is downgrading to Android 9 as simple as using the Lenovo recovery tool? Does anyone have source URL's for old versions of stock stock ROM's?
My notifications seem to be ok across the board
