"Recommended Apps (Earphones)" message - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Whenever I plug in headphones on the pull-down there is a section entitled "Recommended Apps (Earphones)". How can I alter which apps appear there? The included Android media player does not even show up there but my email program, text messaging, and Google maps icons do show up there which makes pretty much no sense... it would be handy to tap on apps there that made sense... Why isn't the included Android media player not even shown there?

I hated it with passion but after switching the dpi to 250 it's become one of the most lovely features. I'm assuming it learns what apps you use when headphones are plugged, which for me is nearly always. So it shows my most used apps.
I've got the pie controls and I use the pie, multiwindow and the status bar headphone apps to multitask and navigate the device very effectively. (By the way I always use the Spen)

You can also disable the recommend Apps if you plug-in the headphones with this app:

Default Browser quick controls (LABS)

Hey everyone.
Did you all know that the Note 10.1 default Browser has a fullscreen mode with quick controls that are gesture based? (I wish the controls were bigger, though)
If you go to Browser settings and then to Labs section, there is a Quick Controls option you can enable. Is this new in Jelly Bean based roms?
Basically your Browser goes fullscreen with no bars and you can swipe from the left or right edge to bring up a semi-circular set of touch controls to do whatever you want.
Or, maybe, you all knew this and I am a noob.

Sorry to say it but " YOU ARE A NOOB" also its not the only or first browser with this feature. ?
Still thanks for sharing. I'm sure there are enough people who are not aware of this feature and they might be helped by your post.
It had this is 4.0 but the controls wee bigger and ALOT easier to use

I didn't know about this until I was told a few weeks ago, it's very good for quick and full screen browsing, but like the OP said; it would be better if the buttons could be increased in size.

[Q] How can I get Single Hand Use working?

I tried out the Single Hand Use for all windows when I got my Note 3, and it worked OK. It was certainly not 'easy' to get it going, but I could do it with a few tries.
I have another launcher, and installed and set that. Now I see that the One Handed gesture is not working. I moved back to TW to try it, and it is not working there either.
I have definitely set it in the settings (all windows). Does anyone else have this problem, or know how to get it working again? Does it work with other launchers that stock?
I suspect that you have enabled an app in 'accessibility'. If any app is enabled in accessibilty it prevents the single handed gesture from working. It also causes the stock browser to 'talk' saying things like 'page loading' etc. which is very irritating.

Thank you so much, it works!
The really stupid thing is I have an app called 'Llama (Location Aware Mobile App), and that has a setting under accessibility. I have to turn that off for the single hand use to work. This is really stupid, but I shall see what effect it has turning that setting off (there is no indication). It it disables Llama, I am going to be very annoyed, as they are not even slightly related.
I agree. My use of the apps is far more important than the single handed mode and, as you say, the apps like Llama etc. obviously reveal a bug in either Android itself or in something Samsung has done. I really want to use Tasker and Pebble so have to also remember not to use the stock browser unless I want it talking as I browse.

Yes - works fine with Nova but (as above) make sure accessibility apps are all off or the gesture won't work.

Yeah that's what I was thinking considering one of the moto g's good points is the fact that it runs stock android and not that ugly tonchwiz miss on the SGS5...

Native app Sound Recorder shows in app settings but not in app drawer

Trying to put shortcut/icon on home screen but the Sound Recorder native app isn't anywhere to be found except under app settings "all". It's not disabled either. Help appreciated.

There isn't an actual app, the internal app is used for moto voice. U would need to download one from play store.
Ok cool thanks, my Galaxy S4 had a pre installed one, I just assumed!

Ok I see that but it's more of a note taker for sound vs typing. I'm talking about a sound recorder that can record for extended lengths screen off. It's bizarre the app Sound Recorder is listed in the system apps but nowhere else.
