What ROM are you getting the fastest speeds with?
Faster data speeds with any? Smoothness?

They are all fast and smooth at this point including the stock ROM really.
I am running beans ROM now because I get sick of debloating the stock ROM, but I can't honestly say it's any faster (I tried hyperdrive also)

All stock based and all will be the same. Only difference would be how many apps you have running in the background which would be on you. Any difference people claim is 50% placebo and 50% fan boy.

LOL, couldn't have stated it any better myself.
That applies to the mythical claims of "my battery life doubled with this ROM also"

All roms are quite similar. Although, some of the very debloated ones have some more speed.
Best ROM thread in disguise...not allowed. Speed is relative to towers and network. Smoothness can depend on governor/Scheduler combos in kernels...too many variables affect these items and should not be considered ROM specific

I've been running EL30 all day and just realized how smooth the scroll is and of amazing the multitasking is. Went is it that stock roms do multitasking so much better than custom roms? Everyone should go stock for at least one day to see what I mean. Again.. Just throwing it out there.
I've been running stock EL30 since we got the google link. I'm liking it so far. Just need the keyboard lag fix. I think they did fix the GPS though, it goes fast in google maps and its accurate. And I like the none iOS touchwiz.

Did they make big changes to touchwiz in el30? I had not read about that yet.

They changed a couple of the icons and removed the colored squares from the icons when you are in the app drawer.
The keyboard skips 70% less than EI22 but it is still there.

It really is much better, but it dropped one of the e's in "needed". I hadn't noticed the background thing because I use ADW EX with a theme. It seems fine stock, but I'd love to underclock again so I might just root for that.

Im just rooted with sumarai kernel. Now I care less for costume since ciq is gone. Im very impressed with its mulritasking. Never had gb multitasj this good.

Yes, I noticed battery life is great! Also, I think the smoothness is coming from the rom being odexed originally from sprint. We must all remember that the odex codes are optimized for our devices. That's why deodexed roms are never as smooth. Might be slight quicker but awful multitasking. But personaly, ive never seen a performance boost from going deodex.

Can I still run a EI22 rom if I flash to this modem??

De-odexing isn't supposed to give ya performance boost, it allows you to theme your phone.
BEER!
Yup, but alot of members here state that the roms under deodex run snappier. In which I disagree.
Just buggin out, me an my eye balls.
Check out the thread in the development section entitled "[tweak][CM7] odex cyanogenmod 7.2 flashable zip" by zman for more info on the subject
edit: also, listening to certain people on this forum can provide bad advice, on occasion always research, for your own (phone) safety

How about you use the search function and find out for yourself. Or go to the Development forums and, I don't know, FLASH them. It's not that hard.
Hey all,
I was just wondering: how would Gingerbread be on a Nexus 4? Comparing GB and JB on my old phone I think battery life would certainly gain a boost, just like how fluent everything is. Then again I like the JB UI way better, JB has more functions and more apps will be incompatible using GB.
What is your view?

Don't even think it's possible to port, and if you did miracle it onto your phone it would run like ass (necessitating yet another miracle).

That is impossible unless you're willing to build it and or make sure all drivers work as well and or reverse engineer the drivers to work on GB.
Plus why would you want GB? because of battery? Hell no, JB is much efficient and Android has matured enough.
Why will it never be done? Two words. "Project Butter"

I think you ate a bit too many "special" gingerbread cookies...
Well, gingerbread isn't ideal to be honest.
However, a port of ICS or JB (4.1) can most likely boost the performance and battery life.
On the nexus 7, 4.1 ran better than 4.2 did. Performance and battery wise.

Look.
1rst, paranodroid.
2cnd: faux123 kernel
3r: go to his post and use "battery saver config"
4: enjoy.
there's nothing wrong with the thought, I wondered too but you would have to reverse everything for it and its not worth it, but battery life is better on JB due to optimization, GB was single core days, also many apps may not be supported,
I like custom roms, but i like battery life even better.
Im now on Omega v3.1 from indie. But i dont know if Custom Roms are better, worse or actually the same in battery life?
I always flash a rom, check it out for about a day, and if im dissapointed i flash another. But last week i heard a thing that if you let the Rom settle for a week or so, the battery life gets better and better?
Can someone help me out a bit Thanks!!!:cyclops:

never really cared for "settleing" the phone but i have noticed if you keep using the rom/kernel combo for a while battery does get better..however most ppl here dont use roms for long so from my experience the first 2 to 3 full cycles are enough to see how the rom is performing

not necessarily.. i have seen ppl get better battery life on stock kernels and also so seen ppl get other get better battery on custom kernels so "better" is always subjective cuz no 2 phones are alike, so everyone will get different results

i wouldnt recommend trying tmo kernels on the n9005.. Imoseyon was actually gonna keep both tmo adn n9005 same but then i think he found some difference in the soruce thats why he made a different version for the n9005 and a different version for the n900t
I stick with stock. Does it helps if i use the samsung feature powersaving?

Also don't forget to wipe your battery cache. I've been using the Battery Calibration application from the market to do that. Just follow the instructions from within the app. Requires root.

Yeah its definitely not going to make things worse. Signal could improve or stay the same.
