Maybe I am overlooking it, but is there a phone dial pad in cyanogenmod 10.1? I have used it with
google talk and some other apps in an older cyanogenmod version but I upgraded to 10.1
and cannot find the dial pad, or is it no longer there? Thanks for any help.

yes under settings you can enable it.. but app has to support it.
Hmm i can't seem to find it. I want to be able to use speech to text for things like SMS messages.
I can see an app called "Voice Text" in the market - do I need to buy this first ? It's got terrible reviews.
I cannot find it either.
The Nexus One came with a voice recognition keyboard and voice search. Were these Android 2.1 standard or were they specific to the N1?

I want to know as well. I think the Evo's feature on this is great, to speak out a text reply if driving is great.
My guess is they are 2.1 standard (I read voice input EVERYWHERE is a feature). However Samsung have replaced the standard android keyboard with their own, and Swype does not have that feature (yet, I looked it up and they said they will be adding the microphone button very soon)
You may be able to install the default keyboard for android?
Supposedly this is a feature of Android 2.1, but for some reason Samsung seems to have left it out.
I purchased Better Keyboard, which allows you to enable the mic/input button on the keyboard, but when you press it you get an error message that your phone does not have the voice recognition engine installed.
You can use the Samsung Apps on the SGS to install VLingo for free (it's $9.99 in the Market), but you have to use the crappy vlingo keyboard to get the mic button that works.
Very disappointed to see this feature missing from the SGS. Supposedly the SGS version of Swype is getting a mic input button, so I wonder if the newer JWM2 ROM floating around has that in Swype and includes voice recognition.
Edit: this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=712100 has a link to a working version of the voice search. I've installed it and it works.
Some are reporting that installing Google Search by Voice from the Market corrects this issue. I can't validate since that app doesn't show in the Market on either my Nexus One or my Galaxy S.
Hi, voice search does not work on froyo beta 2 is it? when i speak, the microphone doesn't show any changes in voice level i tried vlingo too, doesnt work either

is there any way to get offline voice search working on jb ROMs? I run CM10 and there is no option to download any voice dictionary.
I red that on many other devices (some tablets) running CM10 this is possible....

Google Dialer has a great feature which pulls up caller identification information from Google+ pages.
Google Dialer apk has already been ripped off from Nexus devices and are available for download. However I could not get it working on my Galaxy S4 I9500 device.
Even though I followed all the instructions on this post goo.gl/5YPwnF , when I open the dialer it force closes instantly.
I would appreciate if the Google Dialer is ported to Galaxy S4.

So Google claims that Google Assistant won't make it to tablets, but I would love a tablet that I can hang on the wall and just use it with my voice for remainders, shopping lists, etc.
I was just wondering, since Note 8 has a GSM module, would it be possible to maybe port a Note phone (4, 5) ROM to it so Google thinks it's a phone and get the Google Assistant?

Well to be honest nobody will make a port of a rom like that... I assume the CM firmares will work.
I have a ported tab4 SVoice and it does what you specified very well, but I find talking outloud to take memos or do tasks not part of my routine. Though google and amazon have devices like that already.
I am sure someone will back port it to run on tablets... though google and amazon are the least wanted options on my tablet or talk to device.

Google Assistant does not respond when "OK Google" was said.... Even after several retrain still no help.... Anybody facing the same issue??
Finally managed to get ok google to work on note 8..... Just have to disable the power saving mode simple as that....

How did you get it working? I've got an Gt-n5120 but the only difference is mine has LTE.
I really want to get Google assistant working on this tablet and would love some advice and guidance.

Google assistance worked fine on my note 8 including voice command, but it has stopped working now all suggestion noted and tried but has not fixed this problem.
