I get a rather frustrating mesaage when I connect my O2 Exec via the USB port. It takes about 3 time before the connection with the comp finally happen.
The message is - 'USB Device not recognised' ' One of the USB devices has malfunctioned ........'.
Does anybody else have this problem and can anybody help?
Yep
I get the same problem but only with one PC. It happens on either USB port and is not helped by adding a USB hub. As such i am investigating the problem as if it is PC based.
Is this with ActiveSync or CardExport? Either way try rebooting PC first, wait for it to finish loading Windows. Power off your Universal, connect cable to Universal and PC then power on Universal. Seems to work okay for me. If you are using CardExport, remember you can't change modes while connected.
Regards
I have an O2 xda mini and that connects first time every time.
Found it strange that the Exec did not do same!
I have this on one PC - make sure the XDA is turned off first. Then plug the USB cable in and it should power up by itself and get recognised by the PC.
Also make sure you are using the very latest ActivSync (4.1 I believe).
Thanks lads - connect the cable while the Exec was off and it cobnnects first time. Good stuff!!
Why is that?
I think its the phone not the pc that is at fault, as i had a usb car charger and a usb power charger, both using a standard usb lead and the same fault applies, obviously just charging, AS wouldnt happen would it lol.
me missus just got a wizard and none of these faults occur on it
I concur that the plugging in USB while Uni is switched off is much more successful. Can I check with you guys - can you activesync by USB while bluetooth is on? I've not been successful with that.

No notification pops up, my phone just doesnt seem to recognize the cable. Any reason? I was told the xoom camera kit cable would work for otg usb.

You'll need external power to power it

its a pendrive, which should work unplugged. It just doesnt seem to even recognize that its there. Do you think the cable is defective?
In the usb otg tutorial video in the accessories section it shows that plugging in the cable without anything attached to it should trigger a notification. If it doesn't, it's probably the cable

okay, I guess the motorola xoom cable does not work for some stupid reason. Or its defective...well ****.
I guess, it's missing a resistor to trigger OTG mode.

in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092493&highlight=usb+otg+resistor) you'll find detailed instructions on what makes one cable work and another one fail. apparently, you'd have to open the micro usb plug and connect pin 4 and 5. the connection between pin 4 and 5 determine, what kind of connection it is: charging, sync, usb otg, mhl, trigger download mode... and indeed, that is done by putting in different resistor strengths.
I got one of these, only £2.50 shipped and works perfectly, its great fun plugging in a mouse!
I had asked help for getting the drivers installed in my laptop.I have been trying for days and different solutions to make my laptop recognize my x10i but culdnt succeed.
But now i found the solution.I just inserted half of the usb cable into the usb port of the laptop.I didnt fully plug it in.It may sound stupid but it worked.
I thought i'll answer in my thread, but both of them are closed.
That means your PC USB port is loose. Just like mine, I have to plug in half of the USB into the port or it will keep plug in and plug out all the time.
yea..is there anyways i can get the port in my phone fixed. Is it gonna be costly?
I don't think its your phone problem. It may be related to your laptop USB port as the device still get Detected.

ur problem is similar to mine i think u should send to repair service to see whats the problem it could be that ur usb port is broken
It charges normaly through wall socket but i replaced the port onetime ago, i think the repair shop changed the original broken one wih a charging only port i think thats why.
