Hey guys
I am currently running with the new bootloader, with the quite famous knox 0x1. I was wondering whether it is possible to downgrade to the previous bootloader, and in that way get rid of the "kernel is not seandroid enforcing" and "Set warranty bit" errors.
I am still a little new with kernels and I don't wont to do anything before I have the right amount of knowledge.
Thanks in advance
/velein
You can't downgrade the bootloader.. I also have knox 0x1 but always remember that you won't have that headache of flashing modems when you change roms

Okay - thanks for the answer.
One more question: Like i said i am still a newbie (I just install the ROM, and enjoy it!) So what do you mean when you say "flashing modems when you change roms"
I don't know what "baseband" and "modems" are. hehe, sorry if I am to big a newbie.
Thanks

No worry.. Basebands are the modems that controls all communications for the device and this might help you out:

HI. I just got my S4 today. I come from having an S3 for the last 6 months - flashed and rooted and whatever.
This Knox stuff confuses me. I have spent half the day reading about it, and still don't entirely understand.
I'm in the UK, i just got a blue S4 on EE from P4U (so it is not simlocked or carrier branded), XXUDMH8.
I just want root so i can restore my messages with Helium and debloat with systemcleanup. The bloat is KILLING the battery, omg.
Can anyone give me advice? My Knox is still 0x0 though i dont know if it matters with P4U either way with respect to warranty...

to me, Knox is about warranty only if u are sending yr device for repair.
that's what Samsung has implement on 4.3 firmwares.
other than that, u can use it on a daily basis, with knox 0x1.
keep checking the thread until the dev or any other threads comes up with a knox solution.

I bought insurance from P4U so i dont ever have to send my device for repair, they'll just give me a new one in the store for £50.
BTW i followed the info on post #6787 in that thread linked, but it did not change anything. I dont have root, that's for sure?

U should install mega rom from that thread. The details is on 1st page and it tells u how to get root..

I'm either thick, or addled from too much new information coming from S3, which was so easy compared to this.
I cant even see the link to a plain mega rom. I dont want wanam or exposed or any of that, i just want stock with root so i can debloat because my battery is running down so quickly...
edit: got it. still want to try and avoid tripping knox, if i can. I dont want Wanam... do i need it?
ACTUALLY: i like the look of Echoe 5.0 - since it wont trip the Knox, can i flash that instead? I'm quite familiar with Odin so that isnt a problem, and with modems too, and kernels, etc...
Yes u can.

Happy for you! On the other hand, I am a newbie eager to know how to flash the newest ROM, the "Echoe v5 plus". I have the same XXUDMH8 version and i have a white Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505. I have never done a root, but as i have understood so far by reading the past 3 days (day and night): i have to enable USB debugging, i have to ROOT it first with Odin and CF-Autoroot. Then i guess i have to RECOVER/BACK UP with philz touch 5.18.5-i9505.tar.md5 file, again in downloading mode (Volume down+Power+Home, then volume up to accept). after that i should be able to FLASH the newest rom (currently uploading by friedrich420) i hope i am right about this, because i asked people around and nobody is willing to help me so far and one more thing: i am really confused with the MJ5 modem flash...do i need to flash this modem version BEFORE or AFTER i flash the echoe v5 plus ROM?
Thank you in advance, any helpful answer would be more than welcome.

I didnt use CFautoroot because i read it triggers Knox.
I also read custom recovery triggers Knox.
Normally you'd want a custom recovery like philZ (i had it on my S3, its brilliant) and then once you have root you're free to flash whatever rom you want. Modem you'd only change if you keep getting dropped signal for the phone. Odin is cool, also you can flash zips in PhilZ / clockworkmod recovery.
BUT. If you want Knox intact, the only, ONLY method so far, is to use the thread linked further up, get a "Megarom", flash it, then do what it says with the .sh and the folder, and that's it, do nothing else.
I have done this, but i havent done EchoeRom -yet-. I want to (!!!!!!) -- who doesnt want a phone full of Pink Floyd OMG.
Hey guys,
I got my N9005 a few month back and have waited for a way to flash a custom ROM without tripping Knox. It seems like the time has arrived but now I am rather confused.
I found this link on how to flash mods/custom roms without tripping Knox however to use it my phone needs to be rooted. I thought that would be no problem with the Knox safe root out however this is not the case because all the links are dead and everything seems to be geared on MJ7 or something.
I have not done any updates on my phone (unless any were done automatically) and when I check in settings under build number is has JSS15J.N9005XXUBMI7
So basically I would like to know if what I want to achieve is possible and if so could somebody be kind enough to point me in the right direction
Many thanks in advance

I want to root my samsung galaxy s4 i9500 on android 4.3 (mk9) WITHOUT TRIGGERING KNOX AND WARRENTY BIT......just need root, cwm is not that important just want to keep knox and warranty bit as zero earlier I usedkingoapp but now it is not supported
After having my original non-knox s4 replaced under warranty, ive now been given a mk9 4.3 i9505 and in the same situation.
Can anyone confirm if its possible to root without triggering knox?

Thanks mate, gosh i didnt think to look into other i9505 sections. XDA information seems somewhat all over the place sometimes. I can confirm its working. Running root without any KNOX triggers.

Im sorry mate , I know only how to root the phone without triggering your knox but if you flash any custom rom, im sure that your knox will get void ?!? Like i said im still on oldbootloader and Please feel free to read more about here .
Hi XDA society and devs.
So I've moved to an S4 and I've already rooted it.
Sadly, KNOX figured it out so I'm at 0x1, however, this isn't an issue, I believe KNOX is only important for warranty purposes?
But anyway, I have rooted and installed custom recovery but what I want to ask is how will I go about installing this specific rom on my I9505?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2283194
I'm really confused as to what I'm supposed to do, my BUILD number ends in FNB8 and this rom requires NGE8, so is it safe for me to install it without that number?
Do I need to do anything extra to install this rom or can I just move it directly to my storage and install it?
On WanamLites website, it says that the modem and the bootloader for NGE8 is optional?
So does that mean, I don't need to do any ODIN flashes before and after installing this rom?
MY main question is, I have a I9505, rooted and TWRP, can I install this rom straight away?
I appreciate any help, I'm fairly new to this phone and I have done a bit of research but I'm still a little confused.
Thanks to anyone that can provide me with an explanation and perhaps a brief guide. <3
Long Live, XDA.
It does not matter what version you have on your phone (eg FNB8/NGE8), so you can ignore that completely.
The bootloader and modem are for people that still have the old bootloader installed. You don't have that because you have KNOX. So you can also ignore that part.
Just flash away. The instructions are in the first post of that thread.

Your welcome.
I read that Wanam just updated the rom, but some people claim that it still has some bugs. Use the 2.6 version instead of the 2.7 untill everything is sorted out.
Sorry if this is a repeat question, but I have spent hours on XDA trying to find my answer, So I decided to try here.
Can my device be safely rooted, I did try rooting using the CF method, but it keeps failing, I get this error : recovery is not seandroid enforcing
I have also tripped Knox 0x1, The handset is on H3G (Three Mobile UK)
I just need to be sure if I can or not, Many thanks in advance.
Have a read through this thread, it's looking more and more likely that BOD3 firmware is locking devices from rooting/custom anything
