If u dont need install CUSTOM roms u dont need root ur phone coz u will void ur warranty. Install the updates of Kies for STOCK ROM and is all :highfive:

Have you tried freezing all Knox related services with Titanium?

No I don't even know what Knox is. I'm trying to explore Knox before I decide if I like it or not. How do I activate it? Its not selectable. I don't have a Knox icon in the application draw, how do I turn it on?

LMAO......
GS4 Stock Rooted MJA 4.3,Philz Touch CWM,HotSpot Mod,Transparent Weather Widget...
Reminded me of Bobby Busheys mom in waterboy. Lol
So question since i dont seem to see anyone really talking about it..
Im new to the S4 Just got it a couple days ago.. After unboxing it i did the 4.3 OTA update
Just found out about Knox after i tried rooting my device and it asked me if i wanted to disable Knox. I said yes. and the root when through fine. I used a root checker and it says my device is rooted. I want to get into Flashing Custom Roms but from what im hearing i wont be able to due to Knox and how it locks down the boot loader.. Can anyone fill me in on this..
Whether or not i should be concerned at the fact that Knox is on my system?
Will i be able to flash a custom recovery on my system so i can flash custom roms with out a problem?
Thank you in advanced
Btw i came from the Nexus S 4G section which flashing anything came with ease
Yes to the custom recovery...I had the same questions and the only thing it will do is trip the Knox counter which voids your warranty and currently there is no reset for it.
As for the cust ROM once you boot to recovery and wipe everything then flash a ROM none of the cust ROMs ive seen have Knox in them so it'd be off your device. Just make sure you follow the op and use the recovery the dev recommends. Most all are OK with Philz CWM.
I came from the E4GT forum and once I got this down its even easier than that was.

Flash CF-Autoroot with ODIN... It takes literally 5 seconds and doesn't (potentially) share your device information with China...

Hi mate,
but you want root without tripping knox?
if yes, you can't do it because you are on 4.4.2 know just you said.
but if you don't care about the warranty void and still knox 0x1,
go ahead and follow the advice of @ultramag69.
find CF-Autoroot and flash it with ODIN, it's the fastest and easiest mode to root your device.
and if you want flash custom roms, look for CWM or TWRP compatible recoveries to do that.

software update

I rooted my s5 with towelroot and my knox count is still 0x0
now if I try to check for software update I get this

so rooting is the reason? cz I thought keeping the knox count 0 is what mattered.and how should I solve this keeping the count 0?
Turn device in download mode and check Knox waranty void.
Also Xposed module Wanam can fake system status to official

I'm not sure why you are surprised? it's well known that Samsung doesn't sanction rooting. If they did, we wouldn't need exploits like Towel root to root our phones.
When you check for an update, the update utility has a quick look at your system to see if the system files are as expected and discovers that key files have changed (because you rooted). And insists that you go back to stock before the update proceeds. If you think about it a moment, the message you received makes perfect sense.
It's questionable if you should update at all if you have a rooted system. If you do, then you ought to be doing it manually in a controlled manner. Which is to say that you don't let the system check for updates itself. Instead download the new firmware, then use something like Mobile Odin Pro to write the .tar file, choosing everroot, inject superuser and wipe cache.
.
wildalan, ,aybe stupid question - you received this information before downloading the update or just before installation after downloading the OTA?
You should download samsung kies and then connect your phone .wait a while.then click software update....it will download and install latest update.it may take a while and u will have latest software updated without knox tripping

I meant ND3, just a typo i guess. Anyway, i also included that you check Towelroot's requirements. I won't do that for you. Your phone you decide.

I know well it's my decision but I was reading that there is some fellow's note 3 has tripped knox after rooting with towelroot .. so I wondered is there some programs the knox feel with them and tripped or its just bad luck with them .. anyway I am so so sorry for being annoying but really I just need to understand that's all
Thanks in advance ?

Personally used Towelroot. Did not trip Knox, stayed 0x0. After custom recov was installed then that tripped my knox counter, best decision ever. Now i'm flashing away custom roms. You're lucky having an early KK that could actually use TR. Some people who updated KK have to go through a process just to use TR and not trip knox.

PingPong Root?

Does PingPong Root work on the S5 or is it S6 only?
Mate, you've asked the same question over and over, even PMd me asking, you've been told that CF Auto Root will work, no need to keep asking the same thing
Root with CF Auto Root, job done
Ignore firmware numbers, it works for Lollipop

I know it does mate. It's just that this method sounds easier and doesn't void KNOX as far as I'm aware. I know that cf-auto-root will but if there's an easier method that doesn't void it for all intensive purposes I might as well use it.

There is no root method for Lollipop that does not void warranty, you will always have 0x1 KNOX rooting Lollipop
