hi,
currently running a 4.4 based purity rom.
while flashing miui v5 and older 4.3 based custom roms, was unable to get wifi, blue tooth and sound working.
understand this is a problem due to the radio/ baseband and i need to have a 4.2/4.3 baseband for this to work without problem.
is it possible to directly flash only the .84 baseband image in 4.4 via twrp?
if suppose i face problems after downgrading the baseband, can i upgrade back to the original radio/baseband by directly flashing only the newer baseband?
or would i need to go all the way back to install 4.3 factory image to get the .84 radio?
thanks in advance for your help.
Flash what you want in recovery and be done. There is no special process to do this.
Yes you can go ahead flash .84 image. If you encounter any problem; flashing back 4.4 baseband will fix the problem. You can flash back and forth with no problem.

What i already tried:

Are you on a 4.2.2 rom or 4.2.1 rom? Because if your bootloader is from 4.2.2 image and your on 4.2.1, then theres your problem. You cant have a 4.2.1 rom with a 4.2.2 bootloader
I haved:
Firmware Version: 4.2.1
Firmware Build: JOP40D
Bootloader Version: MAKOZ10l
Before I was with 4.2.2 with the same issue.
I have the exact same issue, tried flashing radio 48 didnt work. Tried flashed google stock factory, didnt work.
I'm at 4.2.2
baseband 48
bootloader MAKOZ10o
Maybe i should just lock it and return it. Getting sick of this..
Go to the 4.2.2 boot loader. and try the .54 radio. If nothing I guess its rma....

Hello!
I have installed new Radio and Bootloader on my Nexus 4 because I wanted to install PandroidAndroid 3.92.
How can I get my old Radio and Bootloader?
Is this new Radio and Bootloader are from google?
Is it possible to install on this new Radio and Bootloader roms of version 4.2.2 or I have to install 4.3 roms only?
Please help me!
If you want to get the old version just download the 4.2.2 factory image from Google and flash them again...
https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/occam-jdq39-factory-345dc199.tgz
Choose the first one and flash it via recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2147194
Only flash it when you are about to flash a Android 4.2.2 rom.

No its fine working on stock rom but when i flashed PA rom it does not read the baseband version. Maybe soft bricked?
EDIT: Before it happen i dirty flashed my rom via twrp 2.6.1.0 I am on PA 3.98 then the baseband signal still going fine then i dirty flash 3.99 and i got unknown baseband version. Then i reverted back to stock rom (factory reset) everyting seems work fine. But when i flashed again PA 3.99 got unknown baseband again. Maybe TWRP causing the ussue . Do you have flashable 2.6.0.0 zip twrp recovery? thanks sir.
EDIT 2: ok find it here thanks a lot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=3098972

hi all currently running kitkat but have a big problem as flash video is not working with kitkat. i need this as i stream footie via a slimport through my tv. I decided to "downgrade to aokp" when the rom is loaded however there is no wifi or bluetooth functionality. I tried a few versions of aokp and carbon rom all with the same results. i'm thinking something has changed in the 4.4 firmware thats affecting any downgrade. Whats the best option anyone else ran into this. Im thinking the only way to solve this is to flash a 4.2.2 or 4.3 factory image and the go the custom rom route again?
downgrade your radio back to .84 if you upgraded it
Thanks this worked

Hi
I'm planning to install the FoxHound Rom (here), but it requires to flash the new bootloader and modems.
As a newbie in the Android world, and after some searches, i would like to know if it is possible to backup the current bootloader and modems, and will i be able to downgrade ?
Moreover, i've seen that by flashing a new bootloader, it will not be possible to flash some ROM, am i right ?
Thank you
If your on the old bootloader you do not need the new one to flash a custom rom via recovery. It's recommend to install a kit kat modem. I'm on the old bootloader and no issues running the custom roms. There is no way to backup the old bootloader. Once your on the new knox bootloader you can not downgrade no longer.

So, you mean that i can flash the FoxHound Rom by flashing the new modems only ?
Thank you.
Initially it is recommended you flash a kit kat modem. You can change this later. I'm running an old modem on kit kat
