Do you use Xposed? I know that only works with Dalvik at the moment and actively resets that setting to Dalvik.

Yeah i use that module just to extent my greenify features. Is there any way to use exposed and make ART work at the same time?
Quote from rovo89: "After installing Xposed, the runtime gets reset from ART to Dalvik. Can you stop it please?
You can be glad that I implemented this, otherwise you would be in a bootloop know. Xposed isn't compatible with ART (yet). It's a completely different architecture with pretty much no documentation. I hope that I can rewrite Xposed for the ART runtime, but don't expect it in the near future. It requires understanding the concept, the code structure and many details to know how it works. Afterwards, I have to think about ways to hijack it and this needs to be implemented, tested and improved again and again. So please don't ask when it will be available - you will surely know when it is ready." it has been answered already, the op is just dumb enough to not read the sec post of xposed thread, witch says that it sets back to dalvik, so your answer is wrong, and you also are dumb enough to not read all posts//or u just wanna win more posts.
Is it that I will have to remove all the apps which does not support ART?I have greenify as well as titanium backup and removing xposed also did not help. What should I do?
I'm guessing you just uninstalled xposed without removing the framework... Sigh

Do you by chance have Xposed framework with a multiwindow module? Try disabling the module.
I do not. All I have done is root the phone. The program was working after rooting was done however after a reboot maybe a couple hours later it started the force close.

Not sure then. Only time I've seen issues is when multiwindow Xposed hack was used.
You haven't frozen any apps/bloat in TiBu have you?
I'm rooted and mine works just fine. I use it everyday.
Started Over
I finally just used Odin and all is good:good:. Thanks everybody for trying to help.
I am having the same issue. I have Xposed installed with the Xposed Wallet hack, but not the multi- window hack. I used "Multi Window Manager" from the play store to manage my MW, so I uninstalled that to see if that was causing the problem. No luck.
Running Nottach's P-Rom, Xposed framework, Xposed Wallet Hack, the CASUAL Root-Recovery.
i have rooted, debloated, done Xposed multi window hack (not enabled) and TiBU frozen apps; S Health crashes every time. so i froze it; didnt use/need/want it before.
oddly it reminded me of the 'health' functions on a watchphone i had from 2008; it had a period/ovulation calculator. wtf.

I edited my build.prop following these instructions I found online, everything now works wonderfully!
Make sure the Xposed isn’t installed.
We need to change build.prop file inside the system partition, you can also get it done manually by using a file manager app or get a build prop editor on play store.
Once you find the build.prop file, look for the “ro.securestorage.support=true” line.
Now change the line to “ro.securestorage.support=false”.
Install the Xposed framework again.
The final step is wiping S Health app data, head to System -> App Manager -> ALL -> S Health then wipes the data. Now your Galaxy S5 should be able to runs Xposed framework and S Health simultaneously without any problems.

Tested by the rest of the xda:
(found here: http://www.xda-developers.com/xposed-modules-to-install-right-now-on-lollipop )
App Settings [Lollipop Alternative by rovo89] [1]:
This was by far one of my favorite Xposed modules back when I wasn’t running Lollipop, and certainly the one I missed the most. With this baby you can change DPI per app (which allows you to keep whatever DPI you want on the rest of the SystemUI), as well as the application’s font scale, immersive mode, RAM pinning, and insistent notifications for those that don’t want to miss their valentine’s texts (and lose their heads over it).
Xposed GEL Settings [1][2]:
For those fans of the “pure Google experience”, this module can let you further customize your Google Launcher by letting you hide the search bar or individual applications, change grid, icon and text sizes, remove labels and more. It doesn’t make it quite as flexible as Nova, but it’s definitely a good module to have for those that love the Google integration of their launcher, and the cleanness and optimization of it.
RootCloak [1]:
Some apps detect root and either prevent access or limit your features as a preemptive method for security. While it is understandable some might want to further fortify their application, us XDA tinkerers can be left out of services due to this. This module hides root for the apps you choose, simple as that. We can’t specifically tell you what to use this module for, but if you’ve had problems like this before, look no further.
Advanced Power Menu+ [1]: This module lets you customize the power menu of your phone to add or remove items in any order you want. There are extra reboot options (soft boot, recovery boot, bootloader), a screenshot option, a quick-dial to call whoever, some connection toggles and a handy flashlight. I always have advanced power menus on my phones, and an Xposed module alternative is much easier than flashing additional zip’s. If this doesn’t work for you, the new Lollipop Power Menu module might.
XToast [1]:
This was one of my favorites back then, as it lets you add the Toast notification’s app origin into the message box by adding the corresponding app’s icon. That in itself makes it useful, but you can also customize said icon and add the name, or change the toast style back to older versions. The duration, transparency and where it appears also can be chosen. Basically, toasts are at your control to make them more informative and personal. You won’t know how awesome it is until you try it!
Lollipop Notification Ticker [1]:
This one was meant to restore the ticker on the status bar that informed you of the contents of your latest notifications. It was made before Xposed for Lollipop came out, which was a daring move that worked… partially. According to reports, it breaks heads-up notifications alongside fixing the ticker. If you dislike those in the first place, though, you might want to give it a try.
Native Clip board [1]:
Copying and pasting on smartphones was never the most fluid thing, nor the most consistent. This module adds clip-board management straight to the text-selection menu, and it allows you to theme the new menu, black-list apps and further customize it. If you happen to be working on your phone because there’s a document you might need to edit on the bus, this will prove useful.
BootManager :
A must-have to those that want their device to be slim and efficient on boot. This module allows you to select which applications run when you power up your device, and those that don’t get allowed to do so usually stay dormant until you fire them up. If you’ve got a good amount of things that you don’t need right away but are hesitant to greenify, this can alleviate the dilemma of your user experience.

I followed all steps correctly. I have a Moto E XT1022 running Android 5.0.2. I first installed apk and then went to twrp to falsh the zip file. It flashed without any problem. Then I wiped the Cache and Dalvik-Cache. Then I rebooted my phone to system but it didn't. It was stuck at the bootloader unlocked warning. I am able to go to bootloader and to the recovery but I am unable to boot into the system. Please help.

I forgot to do a backup, yes, i'm stupid...
Have you got a system backup for lollipop? Brazilian if its possible!
Is it possible to make a flashable zip that can take a lollipop Rom and take all of the files and make them dalvik so theirs no compatability issues?
I don think there would be a way to., especially since Lollipop runs ART. But we will never know, unless someone tries to do this, but they would most likely have to change code around.
Sorry i'm not much help.
Dalvik and ART are two completely different things. Not only would the files need to be replaced, but the way apps run and the way the system calls on processes would have to be changed. Honestly, the system would never work if Dalvik ran on Lollipop. It would probably be easier to bring Lollipop features to KitKat lol.

Why? The only negative impact I heard about from the transition from dalvik to art is that some old apps won't run, but I have lots of apps and have had not found any that won't work. What am I missing?
I installed Slimkat 4.4.4 on a aging Nexus 7 2012, but Mobdro will not work. I have uninstalled Mobdro, went into recovery and cleared cache, and Dalvik cache, did a SD Maid cleaning, and then downloaded Mobdro (latest version), re-installed, but I still get the same useless error message, "Unfortunately, Mobdro has stopped". This app did work before on a stock non-rooted Lollipop install.
I checked to see if any of the other apps were preventing Mobdro from working, I thought it was MinMinGuard so I disabled it, and rebooted, but it was not the problem. I could not see any other possible app conflicts or problems.
I am beginning to think that it is a conflict with Slimkat and Mobdro, or perhaps a setting in Slimkat that has created a conflict, I pretty much left all the settings in Slimkat at default. Any help would be appreciated. :good:

I was unaware that Slimkat did this. I installed this ROM for someone else, so I am not familiar with the settings, where is this setting , and will I need to look up the DPI for the N7, or will the settings set it to the correct stock DPI? Thanks for replying.
There should be a setting some where in slim settings. I have not used slim in a long time so I'm not sure where it is.

Mobdro no longer works because access to the streams has been eliminated due to legal proceedings for infringement of protected content. Mobdro was a masterpiece, and we all hope that maybe one day it will pop back up again. Until then here https://bestdroidplayer.com/streaming-apps/mobdro-not-working-best-apks-replace-mobdro/ are some alternatives of Mobdro and fixes that you can check out.
Same thing with me. Mobdro is not working. It's stuck on the purple/pink home screen.
As the title suggests, I'm looking for information on what is necessary to root Alien Dalvik (4.4) on the Jolla C (hwadaption is based on 5.1 API lvl 22 but Alien Dalvik is not, it's based on 4.4 apparently)
On Jolla Phone, we had one superuser binary that we linked to in the directories opt/alien/system/bin and xbin and in /system/bin and xbin named su
The same procedure seemingly does not work. I've tried putting one of the many available su binaries in the respective places without success.
Sadly I have no clue where to look next. Does Android 4.4 need more than just the su binary for root access? On Jolla Phone Android 4.1.2 it was enough.
Thanks for any help in advance!

Actually, it seems semi rooted, I thought it was due to the fact that I earlier renamed the su files to be able to play pokemon on my phone. Now that I checked with root check it said that its not rooted, SuperSu seems to start tho, which it doesn't if it's not. So not properly rooted. My bad!

NECRO REPLY INBOUND!!!
why do/did you need this? Usually people need root to interact and modify critical (or not so critical) components of android, and last I checked, Sailfish only uses the android base for Hardware support, nothing else, and I don't think SetCPU or similar will have much effect because if I remember correctly, SFOS uses it's own kernel.

Modifying critical files of the Alien Dalvik runtime such as e.g. build.prop etc. is possible through SailfishOS side with root rights.
However some apps that manage system notifications on the android runtime require root permissions to modify what is shown and what is not. That's just one example of many. Another would be backup solutions that want to write apps data aside from only installing the APKs
I find it ridiculous that Jolla didn't order a rootet or rootable Alien Dalvik from Myriad. I'm basically god on the SFOS side but the damn sandboxed Alien Dalvik is a world on its own? Nope that's not acceptable.
I hope you see where I'm going with this. By the way I have given up on figuring out a way since this time with Android 4.4 as Alien Dalvik base there seems to be another system security in place that requires to modify more than just one file. I'm clueless
Cheers

Ah, I see. I was wondering, then again I have never gotten alien dalvik set up on either of my sailfish devices (Nexus 7 2013 flo, and Droid RAZR M xt907), so I wouldn't know. Also where can I buy an Jolla Tablet and Jolla C? I Would sell all my devices in a a heartbeat and just use Jolla devices if I could find them. I live in Australia if that matters.
