Hi, How do I know if zRAM is enabled in the new update from Google for my Nexus 7 (2012) WiFi ?
I tried running ZRAM Status ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=id.co.ptskp.android.zs ) and it fails to open zRAM related files.
Kernel version
Hi
You need a fairly new kernel version (At least 3.7 I think) to have ZRam available for Arm devices, so check you kernel version. I'm pretty sure it's too old for this. I'm currently trying out the exact same feature using linaros android release with the 3.10 kernel and their fast models simulation tool, simply because I haven't found a device with a proper kernel that is stable.

Hi, I have a Nexus 5 running Android 4.4.2 with kernel 3.4 in it. I know that 3.4 is old for zram. I'm trying to compile 3.14 for Nexus 5. But the kernel image of 3.14 can't run properly on my Nexus 5. Do you have any idea? Thank you!
I use z-ram.. should I?
I put slimkat on my n7 2012, then m-kernel a69 on that. Trickster mod has a zram option now. Should I use it? With only a gig of ram not sure I want to lose 10%. Tests with it on or off seem the same.

Hi all,
I'm testing the CM10.2 nighties on my Razr M from two weeks. Everything seems stable but I want to try it with the SmartassV2 governor that the CM kernel is missing. I started searching for alternative kernels (like Aaaagh's one) and I noticed that the actual CM10.2 kernel is v.3.0.96: wasn't Android 4.3 supposed to have the 3.4.62 version instead? If so, why Cyanogemod is stuck with th old 3.0.96 version? I've searched for answers but I've find none...
Is it possible that every CM10.2 build has the old kernel, or is this happening only with the Razr M build?
Maybe I'm just missing somenthing...

3.4 kernel for MSM8960 isn't quite available yet.
Hopefully Moto will update to 3.4 if we ever receive official 4.2 (or 4.3)
You can contribute and follow the progress (dev wise) at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2243410 and http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/t...lopment-0610-android-booting-firmware-issues/
Ok, everything isclear now! Thanks for the quick response!
Basically we've two options:
1) use the 3.0 kernel with backported 3.4 funcions (the one integrated in the CM builds)
2) use a 3.4 kernel (like Aaaargh's or others) non totally adapted to our device
And all this because we're still stuck with Android 4.1.2 thanks to Motorola/Google/Verizon...
At this point, I think te safest thing is to keep using the 3.0 kernel... Apart for the new governors/schedulers, why soul I prefer a 3.4 kernel (maybe this is a silly question too...)? Are they usable/stable even if they're not exactly matching our device?
hi guys
has any of you managed to get their hands on kitkat on our n7, or somehow know is the kernel version still 3.1.10?
thanks, cheers
Kernel is still 3.1.10. (At least in the current non-official build released by PA)
Hello to everybody. First at all sorry but my english is not very good. I have the Nexus 7 (grouper) 2012. I bought it because I saw that it was compatible with nethunter, but, what happend after? The nethunter group discontinuated the support for this table, so I cant install the dependence of some soft like lighttpd for launch LINSET. The summary is the next, is it possible make a 3.4 linux kernel in lollipop android version 5.1.1?. I found a lot of diferent mashmallow version with 3.4 kernel, but I need to a lollipop (the last support by nethunter grouper) with 3.4 linux kernel. Can some expert make that version of lollipop?
Hello to everybody. I need to do a 3.15 linux kernel or 3.2.0 for my grouper Nexus. I was sawing this https://github.com/cyanogenmod/android_kernel_asus_grouper but I dont have the more minimal idea how I have to compile it to do it. Can anybody help me? I dont know if it is possible do a 3.15 or 3.20 version, does it exist?
Unless you seriously know how to tinker with Android device kernels and you have some experience with the N7 2012, don't bother. It took upwards of a year for the 3.4 kernel to be ported and it's only recently become stable(ish)
why 3.15 kernel when we have 3.4 fully functional kernel?
Hi guys I worked and built a AOSP-8 rom for grouper and tilapia.
This is a battery saving keen rom but laggy and bugs.
This ROM is really bad if you just let it go to sleep it would not work.
And you need to do a hard reboot if it goes into sleep.
Do you want this rom guys?
Since original kernel from grouper & tilapia is extremely buggy, it's likely that new ROMs will not work correctly with it.
Latest Android should be able to run on latest mainline kernel with just one patch and Nexus 7 2012 is fully supported.
Kernel sources: kernel.org or latest development code.
