[Q] "Your device has been modified. Software updates not available" Unrooted
Hi,
I rooted my device with Odin/CF autoroot (still on stock rom)
I now want to get the official update. I've unrooted by using the 'Permanently Unroot' within Super SU. I've cleared the cache partition in recovery. I do not have an SD card.
It still says modified and won't update. Can anyone offer assistance?

Did you delete busybox from /system/app?

I did not. Where can I find this? Under 'My Files' I can't see system. Also, is this safe?

The problem is going to be you have to be rooted to delete it. It is safe and should have been removed before you unrooted.

Rerooted in the same way. Ensured I am rooted (even downloaded Root checker). Navigated to system/app but there is no busybox there :/

Sorry for being such a pain in the ass but under system/xbin I only have
daemonsu
daemonsu-old
dexdump
su
Nothing busybox related.
I've done a full search using ES File Explorer of my local files - 0 results found for busybox.

This may or may not have anything to do with the update issue but it's worth a try. Sometimes the damensu-old file will remain in xbin after unroot. Next time before unrooting uninstall any play store update to the supersu app then unroot from settings in supersu. After you unroot use es file explorer to confirm that the only file left in xbin is dexdump. Then try the ota update.

Completed all of these steps. Still saying 'Custom' :/

Sounds like you need to reroot then use triangle away, then use those steps.

Thanks. Reading that thread it seems it may not even help. I may just flash back to stock if possible..
I bought the I9505 from Amazon.co.uk - can you please point me in the right direction to what firmware I need?

Google, my friend.

[Q] Need help deleting APKs PERMANENTLY

Im looking for ways to do it directly from the phone. Ive tried apps from the market(these only temporarily uninstall until next reboot). Ive tried Root Explorer and deleting from the system apps file(says read only file can't be deleted).
i need help. im hoping a custom ROM wont have to be cooked, i would really like to do it from the phone. Because straight up, i dont know how to do it. If someone out there does, im definitley willing to pay all i want is my stock glacier rom minus these apps:
amazonmp3.apk
AppPack.apk
Asphalt5.apk
com.htc.StockWidget.apk
DockPanel.apk
HTCSetupWizard.apk (not sure if safe)
Monopoly_Classic.apk
rockband.apk
SelfHelp.apk
Stock.apk
TMOUS_myTouchdemo.apk
Yahoo_im.apk
Yahoo_imvideo.apk
yahoo_mail.apk
and also if someone knows the file name for the NEWS and NEWS WIDGET, im unsure of the .apk name
I use SU file explorer as my root explorer app. if you press menu, there will usually be an option that says "mount system as r/w", that will give you the ability to delete from the system/app folder.

sounds like he's not rooted fellas
Please post questions in Q&A section.
Install titanium for root the free version. Click problems, download the busy box update (itz necessary) go to the app you don't want and just click uninstall. Will delete permanently if you are perm rooted. To get perm root, type in visionary apk r14 in google search bar, go to the 2nd link and download visionary, then click temp root, and after that is done click on perm root. Finished if you are not rooted, download visionary first, when you open up titanium backup, it will say asking for superuser permission click on allow

just tried it. rebooted, came right back.
I removed my unwanted apps using adb after trying Root Explorer and not being able to mount system/app as R/W. Way easy.

Chainfire 3D On A500

Hei!
I've just installed Chainfire 3D on my Iconia last night and when I try to install the driver, it show me this error:
CF3D driver
ERROR
Could not write to /system
I'm on root and I don't have any recovery installed
Thanks
Did it ask you to allow root access to the app? Sounds like it did not get proper root access. When all else fails, reinstall.

A lesson. Root and /System RW are not the same thing.
You need to open your file manager, (ESFile Explorer, Root Explorer, etc), and set your /System to RW
Then install the app again.

[Solved] Replacing supersu with superuser from Google Play as system app?

Was just wondering what the negative ramifications would be if I were to delete the supersu app that I used to root my device in the system apps, and replace it with the new one that Koush released through the play store? Thx in advance for the help!

Re: [Q] Replacing supersu with superuser from Google Play as system app?
There's an option in SuperSU's settings to uninstall & cleanup the app in readiness for replacing with another superuser application.
I did this then installed Clockworkmod Superuser from Play store, no issues as yet on my N7.

Re: [Q] Replacing supersu with superuser from Google Play as system app?
Install it. Open it and give it Superuser permissions. Open a root app and make sure Koush's app is asking for root. If so, delete superuser from /system/app.
I do it all the time.
Where you can get into trouble is if you don't open the new Superuser app and root app before deleting the old Superuser. But fixing it is easy, just flash a superuser zip in recovery.

delete any one of them

i am not sure but i think that when u root your phone it installs a version of busybox in system partition maybe that is causing the problem

ROOTED can't delete files off sd-ext

Was hoping someone could shine some light on my situation
Rooted using the towel root app
Verified root through a play store root checker
Superuser works fine
I use xplore file manager changed settings in the file manager for a rooted device, so i dont think it's the file manager.
so i'm wondering do i need to set permissions somewhere I haven't already
Or does this have to do with the locked bootloader?
Fyi: if i connect my phone to my computer I can delete the files through the computer but it doesn't allow me to directly on my phone.
Search "sdfix kitkat" on the play store. Try that and reboot
