[Q] Direct dial shortcut and speaker on? - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know if there's a way to create a direct dial homescreen shortcut that has the speaker on as default?? Yeah I know it's only one more tap, but I'm just being lazy lol.
TIA!

You can easily do that with an app called AutomateIt, I use AutomateIt Pro for a lot of similar things.

why cant i just diall the name of the person i want to call

On the mytouchslide I can just dial the name of the person I want to speak with on the g2 I cannot anyway to change this?
That is sense feature. I will miss it when I ditch my EVO and goto the G2. I am not sure if other Dialers will do the same thing.....
There are a few apps for this. I personally like "Star Contacts." I believe another one was "Dialer One."

I use Star Contacts as well.
Ah yes, one of many features that I miss from my slide. That and the full weather animation.

Do any of these programs change the way the dialer looks. I don't want a change in the look just the feature
My suggestion would be to just tap the search button, type the name in there, and click the dial icon.

No. Here's Star Contacts. Once you get the contact on screen, you click the contact. From there you can call, text or email the contact.
It also provides some enhancements of the call log that I prefer to the standard call log. You get the exact time of the call, not "3 days ago" and you also get the duration of the call in hours, minutes and seconds.
why not use the search button? no really on the phone. you tap the button then type the name and it will look for it in your contacts and you click to dial.
You can get weather animation with beautiful widgets.

lets say you just called them an hour ago, and want to dial them back again
isntead of hitting a total of 2 buttons to call them again, in order to type in their name, you're going to have to do at least 3, and more depending on how long your contact list is, to an average of about, lets say 5.
that would mean a 150% increase in keystrokes...
If you just called them an hour ago (not sure how often *you* make phone calls) they should be near the top of your recent calls...
i use Dialer One, which is similar to the HTC Dialer and has swiping from page-to-page for recents/favs/contacts.
Also, getting a shortcut to the program where you can get to it quickly might help too. If you haven't checked out replacement launchers/homes in the market, I'd suggest it.

What nolsen311 said... Your situation is solved by stock software. I don't think the issue is recent calls, but simply searching for peeps. The stock search button works well.
cant you just flash it and install Desire Z rom?
Can't you just... open the keyboard, type the name, tap the profile image, tap the phone icon (first one)? It's not so complicated.
Works perfect for me!
to the OP... i'm hooked on the HTC Sense way of searching/dialing (T9 "spelling" out a contact's name)
i really like Dialer One - its *very* similar to the Sense interface, if that's what you're coming from
also, a couple times i had an idea for an improvement so i emailed the guy and he fixed it right away - pretty cool!
(ps... that star contacts looks pretty slick - i might just give that a try too!)

For the weather animation and Sense style weather clock widget, check out "Weather and Toggle Widget" by Android Apps in the market. It costs a couple of bucks, but works great. A true Sense style clock and weather widget with full screen animations on stock Android.
If you get it, to get the Sense style to it, download the H7C Clock and H7C Weather themes for it, and the Weather Widget Forecast Addon by Android Apps for the animations.

[Q] Shortcut to Recent Call Log?

I'm trying to create a shortcut to open up the Recent Call Log versus opening up the dialer. I'm using Apex Launcher and searched through activities, but can't seem to find the one that leads to the Recent Call Log. Any suggestions?

I was looking more for a shortcut to the stock recent call log and use that to dial people by swiping to the right. The Widgets sound like they would merely show the call log but I would be unable to call from it.

Was looking for a direct shortcut to the tab of the dialer shown in the screenshot.
It worked on the S3, but I can't find the same activity on the S5.

I never actually tried that method. I did write a script for my S3 to make it work, but without root on my S5 I'm not able to do the same.
I think it may be not works in s5. Not sure..

[Q] how to remove the "slide up function short cut function"?

Hi
I would like to use LMT Launcher and remove the soft key buttons. I have managed to do so, but the "slide up" function at the desktop (the one where you can choose between google and quickmemo) are stille there. This function overrules LMT Launcher at the bottom and I can only use LMT launcher at the sides. Is it possible to make this "slide up function" disappear?
ROM: Pardus HD RoM Classic 7.0
Only way to remove that is with g2 tweaksbox

After unlocking how do I get it to go immediately to my home screen?

After unlocking my phone with my password, it goes immediately to my phone keypad. How do I change it to go immediately to my home screen instead? I've searched through my settings multiple times and in the user guide and have searched online and I can't find anything. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks in advance!!

Sorry to sound dumb, but ... I have no clue. How can I find out?
When swiping the lockscreen do it in the center, if you swipe close to the left it will trigger the phone shortcut and it will launch the phone app

Menu?

How to set to get to the menu using gestures? Is there any apk that supports this without root
I use nova launcher and this let me set up double tap to open settings. Hope that helps. [emoji6]
Ok, I also have Nova, and can be set at a single click, or in gestes?

Nova settings - gestures & inputs - select gesture then select app settings.
I think we're talking about another menu. I mean, it's marked on the photo
Sorry I can't read that.
He's talking about this menu button here http://androidapphut.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/action-bar-1-680x322.jpg
I use LMT to add it back to my phone since Google has seemed to remove it from Android
This apk. Work in one plus 6t?

Yes, that is what my screenshot is from. You can check out the thread for LMT here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150
I think some of the features work even without root.
The idea is very good but no root is not useful. In addition, there is no desired menu. It's on your photo, but I've installed apps and it's not there!

You need to configure the buttons you want. It is all done from within the app. Please don't claim something does not work if you never even looked at the settings.
