[Q] Lock screen not responding to external keyboard - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've got a 2012 Nexus 7. I've used it with a BT keyboard for quite some time. In the past I could press a button on the keyboard and the tablet screen would turn on and the lock screen would appear. I could then type my PIN on the BT keyboard, press enter, and the tablet would be unlocked. After the latest Kit Kat update this function no longer appears to work. I press the button on the BT keyboard and the tablet screen turns on and the lock screen appears, but I can't just type on the keyboard and have it register on the screen. I can press the arrow keys on the keyboard and move the highlight over the numbers, press enter on the highlighted number, then move to the next number, but that is ridiculous.
Also, it appears that this only happens when there are 2 times shown on the lock screen, the current local time and an additional locations time. If that additional location time is removed it works like normal.
Any thoughts or suggestions how to overcome this?

Have you found an answer for this yet?
I'm having the same problem :/

Challange! Lock Device On Power Off/screen Off.

I have been trying to Find a Macro Mapper or some kind of 3rd party ap to lock my device when i press the power button. The only work around at this time is to use Lock Device with 4 number pin and 0min lock setting. however i am tired of constantly pressing digits and would rather use native Lock Function that requires bottom left tap to unlock than middle right side tap to confirm unlock. However, it is only initiated from a Lock on screen tap.
IF anyone knows how to enable this lock by pressing the power button which is in my case on the right side of my mogul(PPC6800) that shuts off the screen and powers down to standby i would greatly appreciate it. this is also a replacement for S2U which has a few bugs with slide out keyboard and memory leaks.

Holding down physical key when writing text message wont input number

Hi guys...
I'm using the T-Mobile MDA Touch Plus and encountered this problem today. When I want to write the body of a new text message in XT9 mode, usually when you hold the slide out keypad's key down say "the 6 key", the number 6 is inserted into the message.
Well today, that stopped and I don't know why. Using the slide out keypad to type alphabets work fine but no matter how long i hold the keys down, the number are no longer inserting.
I also discovered that when I hold the *XT9 key down, the menu which usually appears on the right soft button area no longer appears too.
Any experts care to help me out here?
The soft keyboard on screen works fine though and usualy the slide out keypad to dial numbers to make a phone call works fine too. So i doubt its the hardware at fault...

[Q] Keyboard problem

Ok, so I got a HTC Snap which has installed the 3vo 3.50 OS. It worked fine, until today. After I disabled the silent profile, I went and change a few settings in the Power Managemenet. I changed the screen timeout and those kind of things. After few moments, i tried to write a message and it was like after few letters, or after a word it was automaticaly pressed enter. Also when i press the trackball, i don't need to press it to hard to be recognized, i'm barely touching it, and when i press the soft keys it's registered as a double input. For example, when i go start>message and when i press Menu it automaticaly selects "New". I don't know what to do, please help....
No one can help me?

[Q] Touchscreen not working on lock and reset screens

In the last couple of weeks, when the pattern lock screen is displayed, it intermittently doesn't accept touch input. If I power off and on the screen quickly, it then accepts touch input fine.
Similarly, if I press and hold the power button (with the phone on), it brings up a "Phone Options" screen, with options for Silent, Airplane, Profile, Reboot and Power Off. Touch input does not work at all on this screen. I'm working around this by using the Quick Boot app.
Otherwise, touch input works fine, so I don't think it's a hardware problem.
I've seen something similar when Google Nav gets in front of the lock screen. Touch doesn't work until I power off and on the screen, and enter the lock pattern. Could something invisible be getting in front of the lock and power screens?
Using Pongster's HyperDroid-GBX-v12 (2.3.3).
Hey there,
Maybe the ROM h doesnt function properly on your device. Try shifting to another rom. All are equally amazing. If you do not want to shift, try running task29 and start the process all over again

Have you read the thread about the unresponsive touchscreen, where pressing hard on the end call button fixes the screen touch? I assume your problem is in essence the same; once you press it hard enough to actually unlock the screen the touch works fine.

That probably is what the problem is. Btw to everyone, I haven't noticed a difference in pressing it really hard, I noticed that pressing it a lot of times does the trick

Thanks for the feedback. I don't think it's the ROM, been using GBX-v12 since it was released, and previous versions before that.
The symptoms do seem similar to the other thread, but others report it on many screens. I only get it on the lock and reset/power screen. Otherwise, it works fine. However, those screen are brought up after pressing the power key ...
I suppose if it is hardware, then it's likely that cable issue. If it's software, then a reset should clear it, so I might try an ICS ROM from scratch first.

I guess i shoulda commented that how my digitizer began acting, it only did it while in the power menu but after a couple days it started doing it while just hitting the power button to put it to sleep, so i remapped my green phone key to be the power button

Thanks for the tip. You're right about the symptoms getting worse, it now occasionally stops working on other screen
I'm using any button but power to turn on the phone. To turn it off I've added "Go to sleep" to the notification widget bar, which I assume is the same as pressing power??
Not quite as user friendly and sometimes I forget not to use power off, but it'll do for now!

Yes that will work! I used it cause I got lazy and didn't feel like changing the key file but it's much easier to use the green call key instead of the notification power widget

Try this:
Lock the screen normally, screen turns off.
To turn it on again by pressing any other screen buttons other than the power button.
I found that if I do it this way, the screen runs normal.

issues with wireless mini keyboard and TCL android TV

Hi everyone, I'm using a mini wirless keyboard on a TCL android TV, the keyboard is one of those cheap that seems like a joypad with RGB retroillumination colors, I'm having a strange issue with the OK button, during a normal selection action it works well to give confirm command, but it cannot works as ENTER after texted something, also the ENTER button can't works as Enter command, so I must to keep enabled the virtual keyboard on the bottom of the screen and click on the virtual ENTER button to get the ENTER command... I've seen the same issue on this video at 7:00 minute, same keyboard as me..
is there a way to fix this? maybe it needs a driver? tnx bye
does anyone use anykind of keyboard with his android TV? does the ENTER button work porperly after texting something?
Logitech K400, same issue. Enter key won't act as it does on Windows
I'm going to get one, but still havent decided if I really need it and which one.
Connect your phone to the same Wi-Fi as your Android TV device, open the app, and choose "Accept & Continue." Select your television or set-top box from the list and enter the PIN which appears on your TV. On Android smartphones, whenever you select a text field, the keyboard will automatically appear. If you want to reset the wireless keyboard, follow the below mentioned steps-
Turn off your keyboard.
With the keyboard turned off, hold down the ESC key.
While holding down the ESC key, turn on your keyboard.
After about 5 seconds, release the ESC key. You will see the keyboard lighting flash if the reset is successful.
