I have a Canadian S4 sgh-i337m phone which has been flashed to Virgin Rom 4.3. It works fine for the most part. I did a clean install of the 4.4 Virgin Rom but am having some issues. First the boot animation is super slow and laggy. Second I get no signal, and can't seem to find the modem that I'm supposed to flash to get it back to working condition. The modem from the thread is a T-Mobile modem and won't install via Odin. Anyone know what modem I need to be installing to get my signal to work again?
I would post this question in that thread, but don't have enough posts to do so yet.

Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: Nevermind, as finally able to find the correct modem. The boot animation is really slow and laggy still.

Hi all! Forgive me first off if anything comes off as a silly question, I'm fairly new to the whole idea of ROMs.
Here's my current situation. I've got an unlocked AT&T Galaxy S4 which had the 4.4.2 NI1 OTA update installed. I've since installed SafeStrap and a 4.4.4 "Pure Nexus" ROM in the stock slot.
With the newest SafeStrap 3.75 beta installed and slot ROM installations working, I'm interested in finding a T-Mobile/MetroPCS ROM (I currently have MetroPCS service) for the WiFi calling feature. I've found a few stock ROMs that will boot in Slot 1, but unfortunately all of them seem to have a modem issue that I can't resolve (unknown baseband version, no wifi/cell). Those ROMs had modems available for download, but only in .tar format, so I can't install them with SafeStrap.
My question is, has anyone been able to pull off running a T-Mobile/MetroPCS ROM on an unlocked AT&T S4 with SafeStrap? Thanks in advance for any help, sorry again for being such a noob. :crying:
EDIT: I see that this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53758259&postcount=2) has some T-Mobile ROMs listed, would installing them in a SS Slot make them behave any differently than normal?

Wow, that actually looks like exactly what I needed! Thanks so much! Guess I should have done a bit more searching, heh...I'll post back here with any updates with a Slot-based installation.
Update: the guide linked did not appear to work on a SS Slot installation, but did work just fine as a stock ROM installation. I'll be trying a few more from that other thread later on and post if any work on a Slot installation.
Hey guys!
I've read everything I could but everything I have found is still a little vague for me since I need a more specific answer.
I have a I337M running CyanogenMod 11 M9 with "I337MUMUAMG1" baseband on Telcel (Mexico). Can I jump from "MG1" to "I337MUMUFNE2", which is the lastest for Telcel (May 16) without having major problems? I dont really want to mess up anything but CM M10 to M12 (and M13 will without a doubt) requieres me to update my baseband since is not connecting to mobile data.
I read that I need to load the latest stock ROM and then re-root, re-custom recovery and then re-flash CM 11 XX. Im also worried about the Knox thing and new bootloaders messing with the sound and WiFi.
Is there a guide I have totally missed to do this?
I found this thread were djdedonrg posted just the modem Im looking for (NE2), Can I just flash it with Odin and be good?

Thanks in advance!
Anyone?
You can try flashing a newer modem, thought i don't think there should be a problem as long as you flash stock firmwares. you can freely Odin things with i337M
Yeah you can Flash only the modem via ODIN, I actually have the I337MUMUFNE2 Modem on my SGH-I337m from Telcel Mexico with a custom ROM
You dont need to flash the entire Stock ROM.
Here´s the file of the TECEL NE2 Modem

Thanks, I updated shortly after posting the second message but the FNE2 is giving me lots of disconnections and slow speeds in the city I just moved. I'm going back to AMG1.
You can change modems however you want no without any troubles, right?
Thanks in advance!
Yes U Can try different modems and choose it the best for you...

I am currently running Cyanogenmod on my Sprint Galaxy S4, and for the most part, I love it, except that I have no data service unless I am connected to wifi. Away from a wifi connection I have no data and no texting ability. So I have atempted several times to return to stock, but every time I try via Odin, it fails. From what I can tell it is because Cyanogenmod is running 4.4.4 and the stock firmware I am trying to install is 4.4.3 (because there is no stock 4.4.4 firmware, at least not that I have seen.) Anyone out there have a solution or alternative for me?
Are you using the Triband model? If so, this is a mirror for the new NG5 firmware. Try to flash with Odin the modem.bin for NG5. Your phone currently had a mismatched modem version and that's why only wifi works. (Probably)

Here is the firmware for both version http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/. This site is slow but it it will download eventually. You can also find what you are looking for in several places in this forum. Google/Search Forums is your friend.
Ok here is what is been happening so far..
I was on Kitkat 4.4.4 on a i9505 (can't remember the baseband info for that model - never had issues with it). I decided to update. So I downloaded a LP ROM and went ahead and backed up and then installed it. Everything seemed to be working fine except my mobile data connection. It would be stuck on 3G or H+ and when it hit the LTE (4G) it would have one bar. I never had this issue before. I was always on full LTE bars as the tower isn't far from my house.
I followed instructions n how to install new modem with LTE and how to update the bootloader accordingly. I tried more than 15 different modems with no luck.
When that failed, I flashed the stock LP ROM from SamMobile - same issue. So I decided to downgrade again to KitKat and flashed another ROM from SamMobile which is issued by Optus Australia and that failed too.
It's like there is a setting that isn't changing with flashing ROMs and stock ROMS. Basebands get updated and nothing.. I'm barely downloading at 600kbs where I was averaging minimum 1.5mb/s.
I don't know what else I've missed.. surely the stock KK ROM would've fixed the issue.. but nothing, as if I don't have LTE anymore.
You're help is much appreciated.
Over this issue =\ just want it gone.

I have flashed anything and everything to fix this issue with no luck.
Hello,
So this I337m S4 wifi stopped working right after when I try to change "SYSTEM language" by installing TELCEL spanish rom from sammobile for the exact same model number i337m and android OS. This telcel trick worked pretty good many times earlier to change all system language in i337m phones to spanish. Anyways, after this when wifi stopped working I tried to put the original ROM from same provider and same version but the wifi wont work. The wifi slides to ON but then goes back to OFF position.
I tried fixing problem from following http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att/help/wifi-properly-nvm-damage-t2841529 thread but the solution didnt work because there IS no file in efs folder, efs folder is empty while at the same time IMEI is there in phone and bluetooth is working fine too, its wifi which stopped working.
-> I have also tried installing custom ROMS but still wifi wont work
-> I have also tried installing android OS from 4.3 to 5.1.1 but still it won't work.
-> I have also tried different modems and roots
Its not a hardware problem as it was working pretty fine before I changed ROM.
Please tell me how to fix it.
I really appreciate your efforts.
THank you

Did you flash the ROM to an i337 or i337m? The i337 is the AT&T version of the s4.

I flashed i337 ROM to an i337m initially to get spanish language
I suggest flashing a stock 337m rom to see if that fixes wifi.

Model number is I337M in download mode also sticket at the back says same i337m, sorry I forgot to write M in first post after i337
Maybe flashing the i337 rom to an i337m did something to the software side of things?
it was happened to me too...i fixed it via flashing another kernel...
or try install a complete stock rom...that has to fix it..
In order to /EFS/ files to show the device must be rooted.
