Hey there,
i have a problem with my front-facing-camera on my i9505. The quality is set to the max, but the images are very poor and there is a constant layer of grain on top of every image. Even when I shift the phone around, the graindots stay exactly the same. I already cleaned the lense several times, and it didn't change anything.
Ive been on MIUI, CM10, CM11 and V4 Google Experience. Ive used different camera apps, but the quality is still the same.
Any ideas?
Thanks and kind regards!

Hi,
The day when I got my HD2, the camera hasnt been that good.
Sometimes it takex excellent pictures, but many a times it doesnt.
I upgraded to the stock ROM 2.XX and now running the latest Elegancia ROM.
Sometimes the camera just tries to focus and then just takes what is possible.
But yesterday i compared mine with another HD2 (also with the stock ROM) and the other phone takes amazing pictures.
Could it be a Hardware problem?
One more thing that I have noticed.
usually i do not like to set the Image preview on. But many at times, I hear the click and as I decide that the image is taken, the picture appears to be stuck and later refreshes. Turning the Image Preview On resolves this problem.
Its like as if the camera has become faster and more responsive.
Any clues for the image quality? or the Auto Focus ?
I havent tried the registry tweaks etc,
I tried setting ISO to 100 ,
Flicker to Auto,
Image quality to Normal.
Elgancia rom has camera issues I had a problem where they came out really blurry or the flash and the camera would make everything white. If I was you I would flash it back to t-mobile stock rom and check if it makes a difference if not maybe its your phone.
You more than likely have original release HD2 hardware. What color is your reset button? If it's red then you do indeed have first revision hardware, and the camera not working properly is a known hardware fault, and most of the time T-Mobile will replace your device free of charge because it's a known problem.

You think thats what it is ? I got mine the first day it launch and works fine and then flash it to elegancia rom and came out crappy. I will look for some samples photos of stock and the custom. The reception issue I still have it as well my battery last around 8 hr annoying.
Reply and analysis.
Thank you everyone

Aahh now there is a catch. I am in india, my brother bought this for me from ebay USA. So i guess i will have to live with it. Thank you for this clarification.
Others, please check your phone camera quality. as the other HD2 I have checked has good quality. Otherwise its an amazing phone. It has been the best buy so far.

I dont know that, But I dont think either. My camera issue has been from day one. Elegantia ROM has made my phone faster and more elegant I would say.
But I assure you, I would check back the Stock ROM later and let you know
Meanshile, i would also ask steve about the same.
Or.
Maybe if someone else had this issue and got it fixed ?
Wonder if there is any fix that i can try.
http://cgi.ebay.com/OEM-HTC-HD2-T85...273194?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item255d9bac2a you can replace the camera if you wanna get down and dirty.
Hi there,
I recently bought an used milestone 2. I discoverd that the camera is taking blurry pictures. It seems like that the auto focus is waaay out of focus. I read blogs and solutions for a while now before posting this tread, but without succes. When I bought the phone there was miui installed on it. I figured out that it could be an bug, so I flashed to the stock rom, however, the camera still takes blurry pictures. I have tried almost every possible settings in the camera, downloaded various camera apps, flashed it to the stock rom, but the camera still takes blurry pictures.
Anyone any idea how to fix this ? I have gone through the forum, without any success.
Has anyone got any idea?

No, I dont think so. The handset is in good condition and everything works just fine. The camera is just way out of focus!

If you got stock firmware and did a full wipe data/cache with factory reset, I'd say it's not a software problem, but I'm no expert, let's hope someone comes up with a solution!
I do have the same problem.. Someone told me MS2 users are used to that kind of Problem and it is a hardware bug that happens a lot. You need to get the device repaired to have the camera working again..
(Sorry for bad english)

Hey gang, every since I rooted my EVO 4G with Digital Karma V.6, the camera has been less than stellar! It takes horrible photos, and they are overexposed, under exposed, washed out, etc, and I have tried every setting, changing ISO, light sources in different rooms, different settings outside, and nothing helps as far as uniformity! It used to take great pics, but now, not so much! Anyone else have this issue, or is there a fix possibly for this such as the original app for the stock rom? I have also tried using different apps to no avail!
Other than that the Rom is great and I am not interested in changing/upgrading right now!

Yep. Back up everything.
I've recently switched from an AOSP rom to DK 7.77 do to camera issues (everything with a flash came out waaaaay to bright), all the ICS roms I have tried seem to be too dark and dull. While its not perfect I would suggest trying the jackpot edition with the latest underworld kernel, seem to give the best quality, not perfect but better

Hey hope you got things figured out for your camera problems! Some great suggestions have already been made.
I have a request if its not too much trouble. Anyway you could change the title of your thread? It could give the wrong impression to someone new, and leaves the impression there is something wrong with that ROM, which is not very fair to the dev or others.
Thanks

Hey guys, recently just picked up an S4 from a friend after my HTC One battery kicked it. I have a random problem with the phone that I'm hoping someone here can help with.
When using a stock or TouchWiz ROM, I have zero problems with both the top and bottom microphones. I can speak to people in calls or record voice using apps and it's loud and clear. When I install a Cyanogenmod of any version (I have tried 10, 11, 12, 12.1, and 13) the bottom mic drops it and becomes very muffled to the point where you can't hear anything on the other end or in a recording. Speaking in to the top mic works perfectly though. Bluetooth works fine too and I have no issue speaking to or using A2DP with it.
Has anyone seen this before, and if so, has anyone fixed this? I'd much rather use a Cyanogenmod ROM instead of TouchWiz but at the moment it seems I have no choice ...
Try other roms. CM based or AOSP roms.

I've tried a few other CM roms, I'll find an AOSP rom and give it a go now!
EDIT: Just tried two AOSP roms, same deal. Top mic is loud, bottom mic is quiet ... No good!
I'm running CM13 without issues.

Try this one and see if the issue exists.

Try a rom that has alucard kernel (either flash optimized cm12.1 or jdc team aosp) and go into stweaks and in the sound tab change the microphone gain sliders.

Tried CM13, same issue carries on.
I now have CM12.1 with Alucard kernel and STweaks. I've turned the Camera Mic Gain up to 60 and people can hear me now, but they say it sounds slightly quiet still. Is there anyway to go past the max setting in the STweaks?
Not that I know of.

Are you sure you don't got dust in the two holes? Sound to me you have to clean the two holes.
Nope, I had the phone apart and cleaned both holes, no difference.
The confusing part is that on a TouchWiz ROM the microphones work as they should. It's not until I'm running CM or AOSP that I get this problem.
It's almost as if the microphones have been switched and the top becomes the voice mic and the bottom becomes the noise cancelling one.

I've lost count of how many times I've pointed out this problem. No, changing gain value will not solve the problem. This has been a truly dealbreaker for me, as this affects every cm based rom. @AntaresOne said that this problem comes from using caf drivers and I think it cannot be fixed unless Samsung releases its own source codes.

It's not that hard to believe, seeing as there are over 40 different S4 models. You just can't make a rom to work perfectly on all.
I never had any major problems with any of the roms I flashed, yet other people seemed to have serious issues with the same rom.
I don't know why Samsung can't make just one model. It splits the user base, it gives them more headaches because of updates and such.

Yes, I agree on that. It's crazy to make that many models. I made the assumption that he has an i9505 but maybe he has a different model.
Try to record a voice message with Whatsapp using TW/GE rom and then with CM/AOSP rom, you will clearly hear the difference. jfltexx here.

Yes, I've tried AOSP roms but no differences. AOSP based roms for S4 share some sources with CM.

Bootloader/baseband is I9505XXUGNG2
Going to try updating to the latest baseband soon and see if that has any effect.

Hello friends!
I'm experiencing metalic distortions (like robotic metalic sound when in call) and general bad call quality in miui v7 (4.4.2)
I flashed over stock lollipop i9500 5.0.1 which has i9500xxuhpc1 baseband...
I have searched for answer but no luck
I have also tried to flash different modems from the modem thread both from odin and recovery, but all of them result in no reception..
I live in Israel and my carrier is cellcom...
Really would appreciate help as I love this rom a lot!

Hi unfortunately the problem only occurs with miui rom and not on neither cyanogen or stock..
Thank you for replying
Then it's definitely something on the ROM side. Did you look through the ROM thread to see if there is any fix?

Similar responses were in the thread, most were said to be fixed by replacing modem, which i tried to do with many different ones including ripping from modems of local stock roms from sammobile
But all result in either no bars or same bad call quality

I believe it has some sort of sound mod ( atleast it enables you to choose custom preset for like viper4android ) but other person in call is also hearing the metalic distortions so i assume it affects the microphone and not just the audio, so i dont think its the sound mod.
