cm11 epi rom - RAZR HD General

I have been running his rom for a while now and i could write to the sd-ext on the 11/17 build after using the sd card fix, but have been unable to on any other build. I am unable to manually change it in the permissions file. Everything is the same on the phone but am using art. Am i missing something. I even deleted and started with a clean flash on 11/29 build. thanks

@djuniah put out another SD fix a week or two ago. It's worked on all recent builds of epinter I've tried so far even the latest 12/2/2013 build. You should give it a try.
Edit: Beware the file name says xt926, I'm unsure if it'll work on on xt925.

Just a heads up, i flashed that same zip today on the 12/2 build, and it's still working just fine. It SHOULD also work on the 925 without issue, although i don't have one to test with, so I can't confirm 100%. If there is an issue, re-flashing the latest nightly will remove anything that my zip had in it.

thats the file i have been using but i still cant write, i just switched back from art and am going to try it again

after switching from art and then reapplying the fix it worked

the right dalingrins kernel for sd card bootable cm7 7.0.3

Using Verygreens size agnostic cm7 sd card bootable.
Installed mobo to watch movies and would like to increase the audio .
Have installed Danlingrins color tweaks and would appreciate the correct dalingrin overclock kernel link please
I would post a link but it looks like they are down. Anyways for cm7.0.3 the latest kernel for that would be the 4242011 sd kernel. Make sure its the sd version.
I did answer this in one of the post, sorry, can't remember the post, left alone the link.
Basically, the latest of Dalingrin work is 063001
Deleted Post--Bad info!
Misinformation
Guys he says he is on cm7.0.3. Dals latest kernels only work on nightlies and cm7.1 when is released that use the new uboot. The latest build that works for 7.0.3 is the 04242011 kernel which is based on the 2.6.29. Dals latest kernels are based on 2.6.32 which needs the new uboot to work. Read his post it says this on op.

You are right sir. I forgot about the new uboot being added for the RC1 and newer nightly's! It's all a blur really........................
Don't worry I forget a lot of things lol just trying to prevent problems for others
Finally found a link
Is this the correct download for the cm7 3.0.1
update-CM7-dalingrin-OC-sd-042411ext4.zip 22-May-2011 19:57 4.3M
But its not suitable for what I want to do I think
I read through the linked post how far away is the stable cm7.1
Also the nook color tweaks state for audio settings you will need a newer 2.6.32 kernel found in cm7 nightly 88+ or my darlingrins6/9/11 overclock kernel for B and N froyo and cm7 from 6/9/11 . So the above 042411 wont do the job ?
Sorry I was focusing on the overclocking and forgot that the audio was your main concern. Anyways then yes you will need newer kernel version I believe to get the results you want. The lastest nightlies have been pretty good lately and have dals kernel preinstalled. There is already a release candidate for 7.1 so it shouldn't be too much longer for a stable release.
So inshort, to achieve your goal you can flash the release candidate for 7.1 or try the latest nightlies. Just make a back up of your current setup and give it a go. If you experience any problems you can always go back.
Thanks I backed up the cm7.03 to my computer, I downloaded the latest cm7.1 and copied to the sd card , I have gone into recovery but the new update hasnt installed. Not sure what I have done wrong . The cm7.0.3 didnt have a multi boot , I dont know whether I read somewhere that I have to upgrade the u boot file first ?
Any help would be appreciated thanks
Hmm idk but if you have a non rooted Nook Color and just run cm7 off the sd card your Nook should already have the new u-boot, assuming your Nook is already on B&N software 1.2. Is it?
"I have gone into recovery but the new update hasnt installed."
Any error message displayed?
This is the file I downloaded update-cm-7.1.0-RCO-encore-2.6.32beta3.1zip
however on some thread searchs this file comes up update-cm-7.1.0-encore-signed.zip
perhaps I have the wrong file ?
A link to the correct file would be appreciated .
When I go into menu amd down to tablet it sayes that it is version 7.0.3 on my nook .
The only error message I got was on the home screen above my icons and it had problem loading widget .
Yes I have got stock on the internal, it is only runnning off sd card . I only purchased the nook a month ago so I am assuming it is the latest B&N os
Thank you for any help it is appreciated I apologise in advance for the late replies ( Its 1 am here in Australia and I have too get the kids off to school in the morning so I probably wont reply for another 8 hours . )
Make sure to really read verygreens post. He has an updated installer for the newer versions(I think 1.3 is correct)

Yes you will need both files. Verygreen says that you can place both the updated image and the cm7 files in your boot partition and it will update your image and cyanogenmod together. You have to boot into recovery with the hard buttons though cuz the reboot into recovery option isn't supported.
Thank you dabiddabird I will try now.

[Q] MIUI 1.8.5 vs 1.9.2

I'm currently running MIUI 1.8.5 installed on the Nook itself. It runs so well that I'm hesitant to try 1.9.2 because I've uninstalled and reinstalled ROMs before and had them act completely different. The only issue I have right now is with playing videos so I'm very happy with what I have. But does anyone know what changes were made in the new version that might make it worth trying?
The only difference that I saw was that the update seemed to run a lot 'snappier' for me. But after a couple of days use with 1.9.2, it started freezing up on me. Over and over and over. I tried re-installing it a couple of times, but in the end finally gave up. Back to 1.8.5 which still freezes on me occasionally.
I know people have varied results with each rom. If it hadn't done the freezing thing, I would have loved the update and stuck with it.
1.9.2 is running great for me o emmc but if ur running on sd card i think a bunch of ppl are having problems with any miui on the sd card
Thanks guys!

I was running this on emmc.
I'm not too worried about it if there aren't any significant changes. I have 1.8.5 running on emmc, and it's running so well that I probably won't mess with it unless at some point there is a fix to improve the video playback.
Hi,
I am running a somewhat older version of MIUI on my NC. I run it off the emmc and it seems to work quite well. I got a friend at work interested, and he installed a newer version of MIUI, probably 1.916 or something like that (its the current release this week.) I also bought a nook color to haque for my mother to use.
Here is my question: I would like for both of mine to use the same ROM, but I have already laoded a bunch of games and other apps on mine. If I re-flash the ROM with the newer MIUI, I imagine that it wipes out everything. So...., is there a way to update the ROM and keep the programs and settings for wifi and the like ? I bet it requires renaming the file somehow, but I do not find any specific instructions for the MIUI roms.
Yea just minimally wipe your cache not factory reset then flash the ROM all your apps setting ect. Will be there

It is also a good idea to use the MIUI built-in Backup app to save all your settings and apps (just don't include contacts in the settings section as it seems to duplicate all of your contacts). This way, if you need to do a clean install, you can easily restore all of your stuff.
O.K., I took another microsd card and backed it up using the backup portion of CWM. No I am ready to install the newer miui. Question is...
I am sitting at the CWM prompt and I am thinking that I should somehow rename the MIUI.us-encore_1.9.16_eng_Deo_zipA_Signed_andmer.zip file into something like update.zip ??? Or, do I more siply pick that file name from the SD card and apply it as a zip ? on top of the MIUI 8.05 or whatever it was I already have ?

You can simply pick the filename from the SD card, no need to rename the file. Have you followed the directions for formatting, etc as well? What is on your Nook now?

[Q] Amatuer Noob needs help

I just got my NC and decided to give this a try instead of buying a N2A card.
Android Version 2.3.7
Kernel version 2.6.32.9
Mod Version CyanogenMod-7.1.0-encore
build Number GWK74
ClockworkMod 3.2.0.1
When I initially booted off the memory card everything was smooth until gapp. It loaded but when it came to selecting the apps when I clicked on one it flashed and just continued to set up. It didn't let me select any. No big deal because it worked fine.
I had force close issues so I ran Fix Permissions through ROM Manager and this seemed to help except for a few apps.
I used LCDDensity and changed that to 161 with Kill All which cleared up my force close issues on Words With Friends and Tweetcaster.
I get on today and notice videos are now missing from the market main screen and apps that I had yet to install are now no longer compatible with my device. They were last night but I was picking and choosing what I wanted on here. Why the sudden change? I rebooted the device just a few minutes ago and now the sudden change.
I also read about clearing davlik cache but how do you do this? I am not a programmer or developer so I have no clue. I have spent hours reading here everyday since Christmas and my mind is melting. I tried rebooting into recovery but I do not get the option to do anything. The penguin appears and a few things scroll down the screen and it reboots. I tried using the emulator and that won't work either unless I am typing something in wrong.
Are there any other tweaks or things I need to do to keep things stable and running smoothly? Are their certain things I need to clear regularly i.e. davlik cache, application cache or data?
I appreciate all the hard work and the time everyone puts into this. Please help. Like I said I need kindergarten instructions. Thank you.
First off, I've never had much success running from uSD. Even as far back as NookieFroyo. Once I made the move to running from eMMC most of my issues disappeared.
Davlik can be wiped from the Advanced selection when you boot to CWM as can Fix Permissions.
If you are going to run from SD then it is highly advisable to use a Sandisk Class 2 or 4 card. The brand does make a difference and others have found that other makes lead to slow downs and instabilities.
I would also recommend starting again following the veryGreen SD install method
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000957
and using the MiRaGe KANG ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1344873
This is CM7 but with the latest improvements including kernel adding to stability and performance.
Also, never use Windows to format your uSD. The format utility in Windows can (and does) screw up the format. Use this freebie. Has always worked well for me. You would be surprised how many problems that involve uSDs are traced back to a bad format.
I used LCDDensity and changed that to 161

Setting to 161, you are asking for more issue.
Suggestion: set it back to 160.

I read that this was recommended and when I do it my apps that have issues work and they work well. No more force close issues.
Thanks for the advice guys. Like I said I have no experience with any of this. I am learning though and love to tinker with things and figure out how they work.

To update the ROM on an SD card install power down, remove card then you put the card back onto the PC and copy the new ROM zip onto it but named as update-cm-*.zip. Put the card back in the Nook and power up with N button pressed until you see the screen flash. Choose reboot recovery and the new zip will be installed.
However, if you are doing a major ROM switch and haven't invested too much time installing apps etc yet then I would recommend just doing the VeryGreen install from the beginning to get a clean install.
I did a clean install and so far things are working well. Base off of the veryGreen install are there any "must have" settings or tweaks I need to do to keep things smooth? Any nook or CM7 apps you guys would recommend. I know it has been answered 50,000 times but I am losing sleep reading the forums here.
Thanks again for the help and your patience.
There are so many of apps that suitable for each individual personality, for me:
+ news: usatoday, bbc
+ sport: Y!spectacular, mobile sport
+ movie: flixter, moviefone
+ picture viewing: quickpic (must have)
+ time: clocksync (must have)
+ file navigate: file expert (must have), astro file manager
+ player: rockplayer
+ ebook: Mantano (recommended)
+ weather: fancy widget
+ web browser: Opera (like better), dophin HD
+ calculator: TI-83/86 emulators, also mortgage cal. and real science cal.
+ game: none
+ sex pos.: forget the name
+ few others that occasionally use.
Every one gets their own favorite apps to suit their interests. I personally go for ES file explorer for general file navigation and accessing my computers' shares wirelessly, Dolphin HD browser for the gesture navigation, moboplayer for playing media, and QuickPic for photo viewing.
But don't forget Nook Tweaks. This allows you to tweak the kernel and benefit from some of the good things in there that distinguish the Dalingrin CM7 kernel. Like overclocking to get a really good boost in performance (most people go for 1200MHz max for stability), undervolting to stretch the battery a bit, audio settings to make the stock feeble audio considerably louder (set DAC boost about 50%), and USB hosting if you want to connect USB peripherals.

Really? You are sure it's CWM 3.2.0.1? When you boot to recovery you don't get a Menu? If not, methinks your CWM is hosed. Have to say I do not ever recall not getting a CWM Menu. Nor can I call up seeing a "penguin"?
Have to say also ROM Manager is quirky at best. Used it a long time ago and found that it whacked my NC. Uninstalled and never used again. Found it was incompatible with other devices.
You might consider a new uSD install.

I'm not using SD CM7 currently myself but my recollection when I did is that the recovery is not a full clockwork but a stripped down one just designed to install update zips. As such you don't get the full menu and operation from ROM manager isn't going to work properly.

So I have done a clean install of veryGreen exactly as posted except that I have the latest stable instead of a nightly. So do I simply download that ROM file and do as you stated for MiRaGe Kang? Just asking because on that link there is a bunch of different things listed and I get kind of lost. All I need is the ROM file and follow what you said quoted above?
Thanks again.
I tried renaming the file but it says the name cannot contain * so what am I doing wrong. Searched the forums and can't find the answer.

The * is just shorthand for any name. You can't include * in the actual name as it is a wildcard character that matches any part of a name. The important part is that the new name starts with update-cm- so you can just put that on the front of the MiRaGe zip (which is all you need).
Thank you. I figured it out kind of. I downloaded that ROM and followed the instructions and rooted my nook which I did not want to do. I wanted to dual boot off the memory card. It is all a learning experience.
I did a factory restore and all was good again. Started fresh and was going for a new verygreen install and my memory card slot no longer locks the card in. I am so thankful I had completed the factory reinstall. My wife went to B&N today and exchanged it for me with no issue.
So for now I think I will stick to the verygreen install and tweak it to my liking until something stable for ICS comes about.
Thanks for your patience and help. Some really good people here helping out.

I will help.
Ace,
I can help a little. I will load this up and try a couple of modems, etc today but the majority of testing will have to wait until tomorrow. Let me know if that is too late. Thanks for the new toy.:victory:
Update:
Got it to boot easily with standard clears and wipes.
Had to revert back to Lanight 8.5 DD to load a GAPPS package and some modems on my SD card, USB doesn't work for me. It comes up and says "Connected as installer" which my PC doesn't recognize. So, I loaded several modems, a couple of GAPPS packages and reflashed. (BTW, if I select MTP in the USB select option, the PC sees the I897 but can't read the memory)
No advanced recovery options, have to power down and 3 button to recovery (Boo!)
KDH_Next_Gen_GAPPS kills the setup wizard.
gapps-jb-20121117-JOP40C-dmd151 loads OK with a couple of force closes, those can be worked through.
No modems install or are recognized.
Manual APNs do not save.
Lockscreen is a little skewed with the clock being partially obscured on wake.
Checking for storage from settings kills settings.apk
More later.. Thanks Ace, most fun I have had all day.
Play around with it that's why I posted here. Try new things and see if you can get it working. And share the findings here.
I will upload test2 today, hopefully the data, phone and storage issue is fixed.
I tried jl3, jk4 and kg3 modems, but none of them worked. This still is a great start. I see great potential with this one. I'll keep trying and reporting.

Downloading the latest CM10 now. I'll replace the .xml and report back.
Test2 is up Let the testing begin! Changelog for Test2 is huge so I prefer full wipe even if coming from test1.
Many things has been fixed from build.prop to storage and ril related framework issues. I hope the changes will take affect with the boot.
Test2 Changelog:
- Huge fix in build.prop
- Almost Everything ril/storage related in Framework has been hacked to work
- Added init.d fixes
- apns-config.xml has been edited
- Changed the modem
- vold.fstab hacked
- using the ril drivers from pawtip source code
- A lot more things has been changed that I don't remember
- Some drivers were edited to put on forced mode to work with the device
On a side note: I saw pawtip and CM10 jumped in to help bring 4.2 AOSP for I9000 and this is something I appreciate with all my heart's content. I don't have the time to test his build but i'm sure he did a decent job and the word is out he fixed many issues. I will look into his build whenever I get more time. You can flash his build after a minor edit in updater-script then flash the appropriate cappy kernel to make things work if you do decide to try it. Enjoy!

Hey Ace, which kernel did you include in your build? I am running aosp with devil and the storage issues are mostly all I'm facing. I think with the correct kernel this issue would be fixed. If you are using stock kernel I will give it a shot.

I'm using Devil3_1.9.1_KLP_cappy_CFS_BLN_CMC_20121119.zip from HERE in test1 and test2 which is the latest for our cappy.
Derteufel said he fixed the mounting points(to make storage work) in his recent release of I9000 1.9.2 but that shouldn't be a problem since I updated Test1 AND Test2 with updated mount points so I don't see the need for 1.9.2 in my build. Everyone still has storage problems with 1.9.2, i'm more interested in pawtip's kernel if he does release it for our devices or I may have to find a way to compile it.
EDIT: Are you saying the data and phone is working for you? If that is the case, can you share how you got it to work?

I am using 1.9.1 as well. I know that pawitp fixed mount points in his kernel so I may have to compile it since he has the source up. I am downloading your build now. Thanks Ace

No problem. I am getting file for repo now. I will let you know how it goes.
Edit: Just saw your edit. I am using a modified version of pawitp's build. It is the ril changes that he made to get data and phone to work.

oh ok, the only place left untouched is service.jar under framework lol I messed around with pretty much everything I known existed or has to do with ril.
Someone in pawtip thread said he changed his dpi to 210 and the storage worked? Did you try it? Does it work on pawtip release? I'm just curious if dpi has anything to do with it... hmmm..

I just tried and as I suspected dpi didn't make any difference. He has storage working out of the box with his kernel so I think that is where the issue lies.

lol THANK YOU! I thought I wasn't bright enough for such an original and creative idea haha
Lost Root
Ace,
I lost root when I installed test2. Alot of other things are definitely fixed though. I will play around a bit and see if I can get root back and do some further testing. Great job again.
Looks like a good start, will try when there are less things that don't work. GL.
Devil 1.9.4 released for I9000, flash it and see if the storage issue is resolved.

[Q] No phone line in latests Quark's ROMs

Hi. As Quark's KitKat nightlies advanced a lot since the last time I've installed them, I decided to try the 10-02 ROM.
I installed the new bootstraper, then, after rebooting, resized the NAND. Afterwards, installed the ROM, booted it, and then rebooted to install the recommended GApps. Everything went just fine so far.
I allowed Google to restore some programs and configurations, and when it finished,
I switched the base band to be able to use the phone line.
I use America » Argentina » 6.14.7, which always worked well for me. But now, it may connect for a few seconds, and then, it won't connect for hours. It's not the phone company ("Personal"), 'cause everybody around me is using it without a problem.
I just installed the 10-03 ROM and it has the same issue for me.
The last ROM I've installed is from June or July. I can't remember.
Did something change in the way ROMs are flashed in this time I haven't read the thread so much?? New TWRP, or something??
I have read through the pages, but I wasn't able to find anything.
Prior flashing, I was making and receiving calls and SMSs normally.
I'll appreciate any kind of help.
Thanks in advance.

NVM, it began to work by its own... =/
I recommend you to use Claro baseband instead of 6.14.7 and try the metod of copy the baseband in /etc/motorola/basebands/ to sdcard with es file explorer or any of that kind, and then replace every file in /etc/motorola/bp_nvm_default everytime you switch ROMs
that works perfect for me
