i have a droid razr m,I recently got a replacement phone via insurance and i was wondering if based on the information below my phone is rootable and unlockable and if so what process should i use
my phone information is

my build number is

wed may 29,2013

You can root that system version. Look for Motochopper 1.3.

i have completed motochopper 1.3 and it finally stating its complete but root checker is stating no root and i dont see superuser did i do something wrong

I believe that the Motochopper v1.3 no longer exists to download because SamuriHL took it down. You most likely downloaded an earlier version. Try following this instead and use the version of Motochopper from there. This I was told should work for 98.18.78 builds (which is the same as 98.16.3 I believe).

Can someone confirm that 98.18.74 is the same build as 98.16.3? Thanks!

Yes, you are correct, I didn't notice that 1.3 was taken down, but here's the link to the same thread, with the revised method. For some reason, your link just goes to the DR home page.

[Q] towelroot - Phone isn't currently supported

Ok so got a uk SM-N9005 stock 4.4.2 kitkat. Installed towel root but when I hit make it rain I get the message "This phone isn't currently supported". Can't find anything about this anywhere. Have they brought out a recent update to block this or something?

what is your kernel date? is it < 3 Jun 14?
In the website of towelroot, its contain an information that 'should support all phones < jun 3 2014'
Oh it's 25th June. Guess that's the problem. So how does it work then coz say I was already rooted using this then I got an update would I stay rooted or not?

Once you are rooted it will change your System status to Custom, which would block OTA updates from occurring supposedly. (NOT KNOX).
If you somehow use a way to make it say Official again, and you update, it will remove KNOX. Unless you use SuperSU's survival mode or MOP's Everroot option, you can keep root after an update.
As far as I know, it's not the date that matters. What matters, is whether the kernel has the exploit (CVE-2014-3153) or not.
Though the date comes in, that the issue was fixed in main code on 3rd June, if I am not mistaken. All kernels, that are based on Android from before that date, will likely have that exploit, unless fixed by the OEM.
Same Problem
I'm having the same problem but the codes didn't work still tells me this phone isn't currently supported I have at&t us 4.4.2 kernver. 3.4.0-2178781 tues jul 22 2014 any Ideas what else I can Do Or use a different root method.

Nope. You yourself said it was a July 22nd Kernel and the post above you says that you can't use it after Jun 3rd kernels.
So I'm Screwed Till They Come Out With An Update?

Use the other AT&T rooting methods...KNOX is useless to warranty nowadays.
do you know which one cause iv'e been searching and i don't see any thanks in advanced
the way it works for example on my phone (t-mo in US), you update latest firmware, then load older kernel with odin, root with towelroot and reload newest kernel back again. Since both kernels are original from Samsung, Knox won't trip and my status is official, so I went out of my way to disable updates, so I don't get some stupid OTA and loose root. I'm not sure how this would work with locked boot loader ATT has. Don't expect updated towelroot, I think developer works for Google now? I also think ATT owners should go to ATT note 3 forums and find better answers there, since this more for international models.
i had root on my note 3 before an update two weeks ago via towelroot. i had modules installed via xposed installer and now after the update(OTA which is weird) my root is gone but some of the modules still work(lockscreen torch and snapchat colors), others don't. like S5 UI, etc. now if i want to use towelroot it says device not supported
Root Note 3 having Kernel version date greater than 3rd June

I also had a rooted phone that took an OTA update - I didn't think it was possible.
It killed the root - I checked the original receipt - warrant expired so just rooted with CF-Autoroot No problem.
But there are obviously some OTA updates that can install over a root and will erase root.
Unfortunately I have N900P :/

[Q] Stock 4.1.2 JB to KK update and unlock help

Hello all, my Razr M (9.8.1Q-78-1) is still locked and not rooted! I had not been informed of updates on my device (I think) because I have Motorola services disabled. I hope I didn't miss the boat again! I have looked around for up to date news, but I am late and my situation is not common!
The big question: "Is it too late to OTA" through Moto/Verison, and if so, are there any other options? Thanks in advance for any help / pointers!

Thank you for responding, I have read that KK can be rooted and unlocked. What concerns me is that the update might have been patched! I may be a nervous noob, but I am sure they are hard at work to slam the door. It is now 12:26 am July 30, and I am running late to the party, again!
I apologize for the new thread, maybe I should have been more patient. I am anxious, I do not know how much time I have left. I missed the boat last year and have had a lot of time to stew on it! I am just being cautious before taking an OTA as I should be, at least I've learned that much.

Tiny update 9.30.1.en.US?
Can someone please tell me what this OTA is (9.30.1.en.US), it took only seconds to download? Is this the norm?!
Previous system was 98.16.3.XT907.en.US / 4.1.2 / 9.8.1Q-78-1
Any ideas what this update is? Was this pushed before KK?

Thank you, I have been reading about rsd lite (old thread 2013). If I am understanding this right, you can flash stock KK (manually downloaded with PC from the link you posted) with it even though I am unrooted and have a locked bl (because it is an official ROM)? If this is true, I do not need to rush, and do not need to use OTA at all? Downloading latest vers. 5.7 of RSD Lite now. Do I still have to edit xml?
My phone downloaded that update (98.30.1) last night, but I did not install it. If I do a FDR, will it effectively remove the update from whatever semi-hidden cache it downloaded it to? or should I just let it install? If either one is safe, then I can take all the time I want, and take baby steps. I really don't want to brick it, I use it daily for work!

1. Yes, firmware can be flashed on locked bl's. You just can't downgrade.
2. If you want you can install the 98.30.1 OTA or just flash up to 183.46.10, your choice.
3. Don't touch the xml, there's no need. That's only for downgrading or even re-flashing to stock.
4. A FDR will remove any update data on your device, but you will be asked again to download it.
4.5 Again, your choice.

yup

I tried it on mine, no go.
The first time I tried Bruteforcing, it ended up telling me to reboot to finish the root, but after I did, it's still not rooted and SuperSU can't install.
Did I miss something here? I used 1.2.0 of Stump Root.

I had the same issue on first attempt (after ~10mins of bruteforcing). I was almost ready to dismiss StumpRoot but tried again and viola! Working root.
Also managed to get working TWRP following the instruction here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54533937&postcount=2
Just make sure to use the aboot.4.2.2.img file from the link in A) - I was using an older version and was having version or device match problems initially.

Is this the firmware for the Kid's Version only? I bricked the Kid's Version after trying RootJunky's method to root and I assumed the 5.3.1 is the same as the 5.1.4 since both Kindles are identical besides the foam case it comes with. So basically when I get my new Kindle Kid's Edition, how can I root it?

Sorry about cross posting but I wanted a quick answer as I was posting about this on Root Junkys channel and never got a response about this firmware. So how long will it be before 5.3.1 is rootable and who actually will make it happen? I'm new here and new to rooting and following one of the best supposedly I got bricked. I should have come here first to see this warning. Now Im screwed having to send it back to Amazon. Once they find out it's bricked they may still make me pay for it. If that's the case I will be pissed.

Well, who knows?
Apart from the 5.0.1 and 5.1.1 versions, who can be easily rooted because their bugged fastboot implementations allows a custom recovery to be loaded even with the locked bootloader, so far only the 5.1.2 version is rootable and the process is no different compared to what is used to root other devices. In short, you have to find a bug in the software that allows for a privilege escalation, and that's what for example KingRoot does.
So far, no such bugs have been found in 5.1.2.1, 5.1.3, 5.1,4 and 5.3.1 FireOS releases. The first three have many parts in common, therefore they can downgraded to 5.1.2 and subsequently rooted. Nothing can be done for 5.3.1 thus far.

Thanks fmc000, I appreciate the thorough explanation. I think when I first turned in my kindle it updated from 5.1.4 to 5.3.1 before I could do anything to stop it, so there was no way from the get go for me to root my week old Kindle I bought on Amazon's Prime Day. Hopefully this changes going forward. Maybe I'll have to buy a rooted Kindle on eBay...

So far I can't root 5.3.1 regardless of what other threads say - kingroot initially says there is no root available, and tries anyway, no dice.
Ive tried reflashing, resetting, different versions, nothing seems to work.

Have you tried rooting with different versions of Kingroot? Supertool has 4.8.5 if I remember correctly, give the newest one (5.0 I think) a go.
Also try multiple times, in my case it was sometimes the 3rd time that actually worked.

It works. Not reliably, not consistently, not conveniently. But eventually. Many skeptics have preceded down river of denial only to find joy you when root is eventually secured.
Best results have been reported with Kingroot 4.85, 4.92 and 4.96. WiFi must be enabled. There's also a desktop build but the interface is in Chinese.
Avoid 5.x.x builds as removal and migration to SuperSU can be problematic. SuperSU is a FlashFire prerequisite which itself is a prerequisite for flashing custom ROMs on this device.

Avoid KingRoot v5 as removal can be problematic; see previous post. Stick with v4.85-4.96.
