hey
So, i need help!
I have the canadian variant SGH-M919V model.
Currently I am on original stock 4.2.2 (not rooted) rom: M919VVLUAMG1_M919VYVLAMG1_M919VVLUAMG1_HOME.tar.md5
I had flashed the 4.3 modem of my model: M919VVLUEMK5 (modem.bin and NONHLSO.bin) three times via odin 3.07. So the modem did stick.
then through Philz Touch 6 CWM 6.0.4.5 AND Philz Touch 5 AND TWRP 2.6.3.1 i did complete wipe three times in both recoveries and flashed GE v14 and Omega v16 roms.
Then I booted into the system. my phone kept freezing up a lot , especially with phone dailer app, youtube app, and browser. It would FREEZE, and become unresponsive. I had to pull battery out, hard reset. Even then it kept freezing up more.
I did many wipes, and reflashed my model's (SGH-M919V) 4.3 TW modem three times again with odin (modem.bin and NONHLSO.bin) and then full wipe and installed the aforementioned roms again, same issue!
I've used GE v8.0 (4.2.2) perfectly well. No issues, it was the best rom, battery efficient!
Please note, i have the OLD bootloader from my 4.2.2 original stock rom!
What is wrong here? Can anybody help please?
First off you are in the wrong forum. This one is for the 9505 and 9500 versions of the S4 not the 919. There is a 919 forum specifically for the 919 and all its minor variants.
In that forum you will find a modified stock 4.3 ROM that let's you retain your current bootloader, doesn't install Knox, and gives you a full updated phone without all the negatives.

First off, you failed to understand. Lol, but I can see why you seem to have responded the way you did.
Secondly, my phone isn't "919", clearly you don't read well. My phone model doesn't have a forum. And NO, M919 is NOT same as M919V. My phone matches more with I337M and 9505.
M919 modified stock 4.3 ROMS aren't for my phone and services. Doesn't work.
This is a very good advice for you, please improve your reading comprehension skill.
More and more people are losing these basic skills, such a shame.

Hello, I am new to this so forgive any misused jargon. I got an AT&T Galaxy S4 right around Thanksgiving and like a fool I couldn't wait to root it and install ROMs - so I did.
This is the current version of my phone after rooting it. I am on stock-rooted right now.
Model #:SGH-I337
Android Version: 4.2.2 (It was 4.3 straight out of the box, BUT it was NOT the OTA update).
Baseband Version: I337UCUAMF3
Kernel Version: 3.4.0-812098 [email protected] #1
I used this method to root it: (Since I can't post links yet, search"root galaxy s4 at&t mj7" and it should be the first video, uploaded by Tomsgt123)
Shortly after, I installed ROM Manager for CWM and I have CWM 6.0.4.4 but I never used it.
Then I installed Titanium Backup even though I also never used it.
I discovered SafeStrap and installed version 3.65 (TWRP v2.6.3.1) and I was able to successfully create a ROM slot for Hyperdrive, which
installed smoothly for me. However, when I wanted to try out other ROMs (Cyanogenmod, PAC-ROM, OmniROM) they wouldn't work.
After flashing them, my phone would turn off (or the screen stays black) and I would have to hold the power button to reboot it so I can revert to the stock ROM in Safestrap.
I really want to try another custom ROM, because I'm jealous of all the cool themes people have. Am I doing something wrong? Or did I ruin something during the rooting process? Any feedback is appreciated.

First off MF3 is not 4.3 right out of the box. MF3 is exactly as you wrote it, 4.2.2 android firmware. As you have found ONLY safestrap will work on MF3. To flash Roms you can ONLY FLASH 4.2 based Roms. Check out this link to see WHICH ROMS you CAN flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2428254 with safestrap.
You won't be able to flash CM or other asop Roms from my understanding. You can flash the Google Edition ROM 4.2.2. Again check out that link on the first post it shows Roms that can be flashed.
FROM THE POST I LINKED:
Confirmed working ROMs
Google Play Edition 4.2.2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2356276
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341376
Deadly Venom
SHOStock
Darth Stalker
Graviton (Installs fine for some, will not install for others)
Goldeneye (May have issues)
Wicked ROM (T-Mobile) Input correct APN and change network mode to Auto LTE/GSM Will most likely lose root.
All Infamous TW Roms should work
Input correct APN settings for non AT&T ROMs (ie i9505 ROMs) to get LTE
Omega ROM i9505
Echo ROM i9505
Vision X i9505
BoBCaTROM i9505 (May not need to change APN)
Hyperdrive ROM. (May not be able to send SMS while on LTE)
BE SURE TO CHECK OUT THE LINK THOUGH TO KNOW HOW TO FLASH CORRECTLY ANY OF TJESE ROMS

Thanks for the tip! I'm just relieved that I wasn't doing anything overly-horrific to my phone!
Well, friends XDA
I appreciate a lot if you can help me on something I have a huge doubt, many of you know about the topic: CUSTOMS ROMS
A couple of weeks ago i acquired the model of Samsung galaxy s4 version At & T which has android 4.3 Jelly Bean and band based I337UCUEMK2, the problem is this, I currently reside in Paraguay, and so this i can not upgrade my version Android to more recent than to come as (4.4.2) apparently at & t blocks it seems
Then I thought of putting on myself updates or modify the phone with customs roms, here comes the big problem ..... Apparently the current baseband version that is in my phone; has locked the phone in every way since and I read on various forums and I see the same thing: they CAN NOT INSTALL CUSTOM ROMS ANDA RECOVERYS IN ANY WAY
I found some forms of allegedly putting something called safestrap "A CUSTOM RECOVERY" NOT WORKED FOR ME ANYTHING, as all Custom roms downloaded and tried the phone did not work simply not initiated (F### THIS S4) .
THIS IS MY QUESTION
CAN I CHANGE MY BASEBAND VERSION FOR MY OWN?- AND HOW TO DO THAT ? WITH ODIN?
THANKS FOR THE HELP FRIENDS
Look for the nb1 tar file in the general forum. Flash that with Odin.

I'm going looking into flashing a custom ROM on my sister's i337m (on Rogers) . Currently it is on Lollipop OTA update, and she says that ever since the update it has been super slow and laggy. I told her i can flash a custom ROM and it should be much better performance (in my experience good custom roms can provide much better performance than stock firmware in most cases).
I'm not familiar with the S4 specifically but have been using custom ROMs myself on various other phones so i generally familiar with the procedures involved. Just want to ask for advice on a couple points.
1) From what i've read so far i am trying to decide between Goldeneye and Kangapop. both seem to be pretty solid options. I noticed in the install instructions for both it mention that the i337m useres need to have 4.4.2 baseband and bootloader. Is there any specific one that works better than others i see a few different stock versions of 4.4.2 for i337m Rogers on sammobile (MG1, NC1, NE1, NI2) I am currently downloading the most recent NI2. Just not sure if specific versions have any bugs, flaws or advantages/disadvantages to worry about..
2) I figured while i'm going to have to downgrade the firmware to install the custom ROM i might as well try the Root/Unlock procedure from this thread . Is this still working? I think i would need to flash the stock NI2 firmware then follow the procedure in that thread to root and unlock the phone then from there i could install Goldeneye or Kangapop? Has anyone done this or can confirm if it should work this way.
Thanks
Hello. I am attempting to flash new BL and Modems using Odin 3.10.6 on a Windows 7 partition on a Macbook Pro mid-2012 OS 10.10. My phone is a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S4, Baseband number M919UVUAMDL. My current build number on my phone is Omega v7.0 - XXUBMF8. I'm trying to upgrade to Omega v42 - XXUHOF2.
My problem:
Odin recognizes my phone fine but fails the flash very quickly. The fail message Odin gives is "FAIL! (auth)" right after "NAND Write Start!!" and my phone displays the message "Secure Check Fail: aboot". This happens no matter what USB cable I use.
The files I'm trying to flash are:
BL_I9505XXUHOF2_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar
GSM_Modem_I9505XXUHOF2_and_LTE_Modem_I9505XXUHOF2.tar
Any help?
You can't flash an I9505 bootloader or modem on a T-Mobile S4. You can only use a T-Mobile bootloader and modem. So search the T-Mobile S4 forums for the most current bootloader and modem, and flash them through Odin.
Thank you for the help. I am now quite confused and need more help, if it can be spared.
I understand now that I can only use SGH-M919 bootloaders and modems but I can use Omega ROMs, too. I tried my best to find current, and any, bootloaders and modems on the SGH-M919 forum without success. I'm not an idiot but I'm also not experienced with navigating this forum. Can anyone offer more specific direction to SGH-M919 bootloaders and modems?
Some other questions I now have:
- Do I need Lollipop BL/modem in order to flash a Lollipop-based custom ROM or can I use any generation BL/modem?
- Will all Lollipop-based custom ROMs require me to flash new BL/modems? Can I just find a ROM that doesn't require new ones?
If it seems like I'm confused or ignorant of more issues than I've addressed, it probably because I am. Any and all help and education is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
There is a link to the T-Mobile S4 forums in my previous post. Make a thread in their Q&A section and ask where the bootloaders and modems are. If I recall however, the T-Mobile S4 never went past 4.4.4, though I hope I'm wrong. Regardless, while these ROMs all recommend the latest Android 5.x bootloaders and modems, they should still work with whatever you do have available. Performance may however be affected.
hi, im new here. I have a question regarding my galaxy s4 i9505 which is already stated in the title. Im currently using Optimized Cm13 by JDC team which runs in my very old bootloader I9505ZHU and modem. Though i dont have any problems with it, i would still like to update to later version of bootloader like i9505XX that is where the custom rom is based. So is it possible?
Yes.
There is a guide and links to modem files in the S4 General Section.
The guide is by the user Bon_Bon. It's pretty detailed. Though I'm not sure if the modems and bootloaders listed there are the most recent, but they certainly aren't that old either.
Also, you may find that going to the last pages of that thread, users have posted the latest modem/bootloader combo. If not, there's another - older - modem thread that may have them.
Another way to get the latest bootloader and modem on the phone is pretty simple: use TWRP to backup your exiting ROM, flash the latest stock ROM from sammobile.com with Odin, flash TWRP with Odin, and restore backup from TWRP.
