if you're distributing the app in google play.. i dont think you're allowed to install update from outside of google play..
if you're distributing outside of google play.. its simple..
u can use dropbox as a server to distribute the apk..
store the recent version number in a txt file in dropbox..
then in your app.. everytime in starts.. check your app version against the dropbox txt file.. if older then download the apk from dropbox.

Some apps have carrier restrictions. On Android phone, you must have root permission to be able to fake carrier with Market Enabler app to download those apps. But now, Real APK Leecher gives you an option to setup SIM Operator Numberic (SON) to fake carrier. You can get SON by the following formula: SON = MCC + MNC. For example, T-Mobile has MCC 310, MNC 260, so SON is 310260. If you don’t need this feature, just leave SON empty in Option. Here is the list of MCC and MNC.
28/3/2012: v1.1.9
Remove country restrictions (go Option to choose your language/country)
25/3/2012: v1.1.8

Check update for new version.
Key features:
Download apk files from Google Play to desktop.
Check version of your apk local files.
Instruction:
The general info is required. Email and password are belong to a Gmail that is main account on an Android phone. Device Id is the device id of that phone. To get your Device ID, just simply open dial pad, press *#*#8255#*#*. If it opens “GTalk Service Monitor”, find lines that begin with JID and Device ID. Your account is JID, and your device id is a string that after android- prefix.
If you cannot get device id with above method, go market and search for Device ID app. It will get it for you. Other options is optional.
***Attention***
This is a Java application, so you need at least JRE for it to run. If you encounter any problem in starting up Real APK Leecher, get the latest JRE on Oracle site.
Only free apps are available to download. Of course
For your own security and anonymity, if you doubt in giving your info to my tool, do not use your real google account in this app. Create a new anonymous google account, download 1 free app from google play to enable this anonymous play account, and then use this new anonymous google play account inside this app. If your account is like "nothing to loose", it's ok
Do not delete "lib" folder.

Special thanks to Tim Strazzere for his great work on android-market-api.
Any idea to help me improve this tool, please let me know by post it on this thread.
***FAQ***
1. It cannot start and ask me for Java install?
This tool is a Java application, so you need at least JRE for it to run. If you encounter any problem in starting up Real APK Leecher, get the latest JRE on Oracle site.
2. Is this tool safe for me to provide my Gmail account?
Well, tell you the truth that i really didn’t want this tool to ask your account like that, but it must do that. The API acts more like an phone emulator, access Google Play with the same way when you use your phone to do that. So that’s why you need provider your Gmail account. I don’t have anything to do with your account. If not sure, make a junk account to use this tool.
3. Does this tool work with paid apps?
No! Only apps you paid with your account, not any paid apps.
4. The status shows “Login successfully” but “Cannot load the list. Please check your internet connection.”?
First, make sure your device id doesn’t contain any space. Then check your internet connection to see if you have network with private DNS, proxy that block Java Application. Also check your antivirus firewall.
5. Many apps i expected with the search term didn’t show up and download failed due to bad device ID or internet connection?
There are 4 reasons cause this error:
Commonly, it happens if you provide wrong device id. So check your device id carefully.
You provide wrong the path which the tool uses to save the downloaded apks.
The app you’re downloading is a paid app and you didn’t purchased it with your account.
Your internet connection
6. Download is fine but there are some apps i couldn’t find it on search result?
Maybe the apps you want has some restrictions on it. See the changelogs for version 1.2.3
7. Some apps i couldn’t download, download process return negative percent?
This fixed on version 1.3.5
8. Some big apks download reach 100% and keep counting back from start?
Don’t mention it. The download finishes when the Cancel button is disabled. That’s a sign.
Happy Leeching!

Thanks, can you download apk's with no country restrictions? I'd need Japanese ones...
Hmm, handing over username and password to a third party? :/
Are the apk's bound to the Google account somehow? If I leech an apk and share with a friend (paid app), won't they be able to track'em as pirated apk's?

I don't really get what you mean. But what this tool does is just fake a device to access Google Play. It's more like when you use your phone to download apps from Google Play. So email, password and device id are required. I could just hard code an junk account to my tool. But it's not good idea, not flexible.
If you're worry about the safety of your account, just make a junk account on an Android phone.
Aha, I see! I thought the app connected through a third party, so one could easily sniff passwords to our Google accounts. Thanks for the clarification!
Looking great!
Looks great but there is one security flaw here... Your app saves user acount ID and password on hard disk as plain text so someone can get our password and ID...
Thanks for this app
Great job, just another bug report, there are names with backslah also "/" or "\" so it gives an error when downloading, for example https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.toggle3g
So my suggestion is to remove all extra characters from name parsing or take the name from the android manifest or something like that that is how some batch rename tools work.
Also if you can remove the "v" from the version that would be cool and another small request, to have the rename like this "namefilewithnospaceandlowercase_versionwithoutv.apk"
If that can be done, man, It would be really cool, and I thank you in advance for such cool app.
As promised, new version 1.1.9 for removing country restrictions. Now you can download app with japanese, chinese... Just go Option to choose your language/country.

But didn't think there are some app with symbols rather than ":" I will fix that in next version. Also i might encode to secure your info too. About your rename suggestion, ngh55, i'll think about it. Thanks so much.

This is a great app!
I love it...
And it becomes better and better!
I suggest you (the app programmer) always write in your app description how to create a new, anonymous google play account to use in this app. People should not (and do not want to) use this app with their real main google account that is also their gmail, google+ account.
Something like:
"For your own security and anonymity, do not use your real google account in this app. Create a new anonymous google account, download 1 free app from google play to enable this anonymous play account, and then use this new anonymous google play account inside this app."

Hello, hope anyone can help me out.
I created a new Google account, activated that and input user/pass/device id in the app. It works ok but even if I select Japanese market I can't find
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.co.bandainamcogames.www.ar_taiko
and
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.namcobandaigames.NBGI0080
(just a couple of examples). Why is that?
If you search them on Google Play, you'll see that they are incompatible with your device. The problem is you cannot find the apps that are incompatible with your device.

Actually, the problem is the apps not support the device's country. On a rooted phone, you can install "Market Enabler" to fake a Japan carrier to download. I'll see if i can do anything with this problem. Thanks for reporting

Well it's hard. The download link is stored in the apk file. In the pass, for example, Gameloft, they use a static link that links to the data source. But now, they are using a dynamic php link. It's way harder to leech thier data download link.

[Q] Installing downloaded apk's

Hi everyone,
I just got my n4 and love it but would like to be able to download apps/games off the net and install them. What do I need to do? I'm very new to this as I've come from iPhone jailbreaking I know it's different.
Thanks

you cant discuss illegal apk stuff on the forums here. you're on your own.
Understood thanks anyway

You don't need to root. Hypothetically, let's say you didn't have access to the Play Store and wanted to download and install apps. Just find the apk file for it, such as "File Manager APK," transfer to your phone, then click it to install it. It might ask you to go to settings to allow Unknown Downloads, and if it asked, do so. Only use this for free apps =D
Ah okay perfect! What is rooting for then? Also does anyone know a site that specializes in free APS? Not paid necessarily just apks to get
Sent from my Nexus 4
Rooting helps with some apps that require it in particular, such as Titanium Backup. Rooting alone just helps unlock a few features, although it doesn't add anything until you act (unlike Jailbreaking which adds in Cydia and such). Read here
As for the free apps you can't get from Google Play, just searching on Google might bring something up.
I prefer to just install over adb.
Code:
adb install *.apk

Just pay for them. I used to do what you're talking about and its ****, not only was I ripping developers off and stifling their innovation, I was also wasting time looking for new updates and finding fixes
I don't sideload any paid apps now, if I like the app enough to want to look for the apk, I'll buy it ... If I can't afford it, I add it to my wishlist and purchase it when I can
Sent from my Nexus 4
Also, you should remember there is a risk on installing apps from an unknown source.
If you don't want to use the Play Store, you can download some APKs here, on XDA. Those apps are non-commercial versions released by the greatest developers in the world: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1913 , http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=530 .
Awesome cheers for the heads up I think ill pass on getting the paid stuff for free

Okay, I have a question;
There are some free apps that aren't available in some countries. Also, there are some free apps available on specific websites only which aren't on the Play Store (like free apps on XDA, Swype).
I tried emailing a free app to my friend- he has a Nexus 4- but it won't allow him to download the .apk file on his phone and run it. I've also tried to send .apk files to a Galaxy Nexus via Bluetooth but it says that the file isn't supported and fails to be sent on the phone!
Is there a solution to this or is the answer to simply transfer the file via the USB cable?

How are you sending the APK file? Through email? I know some emails block out files that can be 'dangerous'. For example, gmail doesn't let you transfer exe files.
What is the exact error that he's experiencing?

Or he may upload the file to sites such as mediafire. Or change the "Tail" of the file, from exe to anything else, or zip it.

I have the .apk file stored on my memory card of my Galaxy S3. I simply attached it to Gmail and sent it to his email address through my phone. I know for a fact that Gmail does not block .apk files so there's no need to zip them! He said that the phone would not let him install it. I really hope that he has "Unknown Sources" ticked. That would be embarrassing if he hasn't allowed that (he's new to Android and lives far away so it's hard to get a quick reply from him).
But onto my point of sending the .apk file via Bluetooth; it simply would not allow me to send it to a Galaxy Nexus (yes, I know this is a Nexus 4 forum but I feel that I'd experience the same issue on a Nexus 4). The file was not compatible, apparently (although it ran and installed fine on my Galaxy S3).
I simply don't have a Nexus device to test these things with and my friends keep asking me such questions that's why I'm asking around. It'd be great to know the answer so that I can fully recommend Nexus devices to iPhone users.

SCH-i705 & Google Maps

Hello everyone
I am sorry that my first post is a request, but I couldn't find what I need anywhere.
I have a SCH-i705 running Android 4.1.2, it is not mine, but belongs to the company I work for. they have an Admin app installed that blocks google play; they don't want users to install apps that might interfere with their installed app. however, I can install and uninstall apps using adb.
I need to update Google Maps to the latest v7. I searched and downloaded a copy, but it flickers too much, and I read somewhere that I need the version that is specific to this device. I tried with androidvm in virtualbox and downloaded a copy, but the same thing, flickering, maybe I didn't provide the emulator with the correct specifications for this tab. I tried also to modify google play by renaming the package then repackage it using apktools, but I might missed something because the new renamed phonesky package crashes with error Can't find resource for bundle 'org.keyczar.i18n.messages_en_US', key ''
solving this problem for a newbie to android programming might take some time, so for now, I need copy of the Maps app pulled from this device if possible or be pointed to a renamed google play or a replacement for it.
thanks in advance.
Thank you Jxt., I will download it.
on the other hand, someone at another forum told me to use Real APK Leecher which is here at xda. I will give it a try too.

[Extension] APK Downloader for Amazon Appstore

Hi there,
I'm redphx, author of the original APK Downloader for Google Play.
Last year I asked if you guys want a similiar extension but for Amazon Appstore, and seemed like some of you may use it, so I decided to take some time to make it.
Today I released APK Downloader for Amazon Appstore. It's still in beta state, so I need you guys to test it. You can see how to use it by watching this demo video
Some notes:
- Only tested with amazon.com domain, Chrome 43 for Mac.
- Upon logging in, this extension will add a new Android device with Samsung S5's specs into your Appstore account. This means you can't download exclusive apps for Kindle. In later versions I'll add more devices.
- You can't download incompatible apps or paid apps, even you own it, but you still can download FAotD apps.
- All downloaded files will be saved in <DOWNLOAD_FOLDER>/appstore-apk-downloader/ folder.
[to be updated...]
Note: This extension is still in beta state. If it doesn't work for you, please don't leave bad review but contact me instead (since I can't reply to your review). Thanks.
Hope you'll find it useful
Sorry for my English.

i get this error

how to fix this?
I need this to work to get fire tv apps in my nexus player.
Not working. I don't see any «Download APK» button!
would you please add the option to recognize the downloader as kindle fire devide and/or fire TV? cause some app is only available for kindle (like official youtube) and not compatible with '2nd android device', in this case, it can't be downloaded.

any chance to download FireTV only Apps with this extension?
Furthermore, will it get support for german Amazon App Store?

For the German (and French and...) App Store: There is just an error in the manifest.json file.
Just change the URLs in the two "matches" arrays from
Code:
"*://*.amazon.com.de/*",
to
Code:
"*://*.amazon.de/*",
and
Code:
"*://*.amazon.com.de/gp/yourstore/home*",
to
Code:
"*://*.amazon.de/gp/yourstore/home*",
I'm trying to install it manually ("load upacked extension"), like described on the page, but Chrome doesn't allow it.
Error message:
---
Error Loading Extension:
Failed to load extension from: ~\Downloads\a
Appstore APK Downloader (extension ID "aepjngaoljfgobnongiemfiokjfkkblh") is blocked by the administrator.
---
Any hints how to install now?
Will this let you use the apks without having the amazon app store installed and logged in?
Wherever I tried manually backing them up from another phone, and using them with a different phone, they would not start, because it would call back to the store app, and tell me to install it before I could use it.
Solution
If the extension is not working (e.g. incompatible app extension). Use old portable versions of chrome.
Use this one: Google Chrome 43.0.2349.2 Portable
Hope you'll find it useful.

Rooted and experimenting as Playstore updates itself and I am unable to patch it !
Is it OK if I give a non stable release with Playstore not working ??
Please do. Is it a method or full ROM?
As long as the Tv doesn't crash. I'm willing to try it if it really helps. Thanks for all your work.:good:

You can also root it with kingroot.apk Works fine with US version. Sometimes you need to run it couple times.
I did it long ago with my x3-55pro US version. It also works with Indian ROM
English version attached.
@dipcore open your own thread for sharing the custom rom with us please
My tools to pack/unpack mstar bin firmware https://github.com/dipcore/mstar-bin-tool Python 3+ required.

Yes that will allow you to login with youtube app or any other app which uses google services. Basically all google services will work. The only problem is with the play market. It stops working after self-update (which does not affect any other apps, youtube will still work).
As a temporary workaround you can go to android settings -> apps -> all. Find the Play market and press on "Delete Updates". That gives you an option to use play market till next self-update.
I just did the given
While trying to login a message appears that google play services has stopped working
And then play store says unable to login
And my youtube app force closes itself on startup
Please help!

Not sure then. I'm going to make a separate thread tonight with my custom firmware. It has youtube and google services pre-installed (as many other changes) So you will be able download and install it, if you want.
