if that is possible for me i would not have ask
There are too many choices and most answers are possibly bias.
Read user feedbacks and then decide.

there is no such a thing like the best ROM.
every rom that has removed bloatware and is tweaked to your needs is good. I use dr.ketan's 4.3 rom and I am impressed with overall performance. try few and decide for yourself.
Flashing takes about 5min, so it is not hard to change it
Agree. If u read properly the OP before each flashing, u will face no problems and won't do harms to ur device.

hi, i came from Note. it was a really hard decision to make. but yeah i m here. sold my note for S III. i have not came out of the Note's mesmerizing feel i used to have when holding and using my Note... as far as screen size and the S-Pen is concerned, Yes i miss that! but i am good with S3. i know it would get better with time.
well, i have not touched the software side of my phone. i mean i have not rooted or flashed my phone at all until now. i wanted to know some things from u guys who have already rooted or installed the custom roms on your phones.
like Note had those Hard Brick issues and the memory issues, does S3 also have those issues?
what are the best roms that are really THE BEST in terms of performance. what i mean by perfromance is the the roms with the best benchmark scores. i am a benchmark scores dependent guy. like it or not but benchmark scores do matter a lot to me.
can u people suggest my any good custom roms?
(i loved the Rocket Rom for Note!)
thanks in advance for ur help
i think the omega`s roms are the best till now

Hey guys,
Basically the missus is running the same phone as me, on ICS, she's been running some version of g.lewarnes kernel and ROM about 6 months now, after mass installs of crappy mini game apps and flavour of the week Facebook games, even a champion falls. She sometimes has to clear memory for the thing to load pictures, tried cutting down the garbage on ROM toolbox but it can't be rescued, its ready for a new combo.
Basically, I want something I can stick on there which is super stable, good on battery and mostly stock.
I'm hearing horror stories about the new official JB and although I'm running a really good LSZ leak in the bare bean ROM. It does the odd weird thing now and again which would freak her out.
I would consider introducing her to CM but only if its super stable, battery friendly and buttey smooth. All suggestions welcome!

For CM: Asylum
For TW LSZ: Galactus Mod v. 1 with Speedmod v K5-1
ALL jb tw battery life isn't as good as ICS...and doesn't touch GB..
Just my opinion.
This is a "Which rom is best thread" and is kind of against XDA policy... I won't report it but I wouldn't be surprised if this thread gets closed...further, even if it was to stay open, it really should be in Q&A not general section

Hello everyone, i just bought nexus 4 today came from SGS4 i9500 and been using the phone for the past couple of hours and i'm liking it a lot, very smooth and sexy lol.Anyways, like every android i get i go for custom roms, so as a new nexus member i have no idea what good roms, kernels to flash and would really appreciate it if someone can help me with this and sure any useful info about the phone ( like what the good/bad in nexus) i should know of as a nexus starter just let me know please, Thank you in advance.
Welcome to the family!
Franco kernel is a good choice to go with.
I don't know which ROM is good though since I like stock alot!

Hello dear Sir/Madam,
The decision was right, the Nexus 4 is an awesome device, suk it Samsung!
In my personal experience, best roms are Cyanogenmod nightlies 10.1/10.2 (10.2 if you want 4.3 base) and MIUI V5 (awesome theming capabilities). Best kernel, in terms of battery saving and performance is faux123 kernel. It allows you to enhance screen colors, ram usage and also undervolting control (which saves battery) with very smart cpu governor, enabling the full nexus 4 performance right when you need it! It also gives control over various other functions, such as gpu overclocking, giving even better graphic performance.

I been a samsung customer for so long and cant deny the fact that samsung are so good when it comes to mobiles but the galaxy S4 i9500 variant disappointed me a lot.Anyway i sure will try the kernel and the roms you suggested and see how it will go.(looking at the N4 dev threads , tons of custom roms and kernels which makes it not easy to decide what to flash lol )

It is generally a good advice to check the respective rom threads for the functions you require. Eg if you require a rom with pie control, check the rom thread for pie control on the feature list ( if there is one ). My own experience shows that most functions are not really needed, such as aforementioned pie control, that is just a comfort function, if at all. Most important function is Quiet Hours, which does not work on many roms, for whatever reason. Again, i can recommend MIUI V5 rom. It has awesome themes, you can even make your Nexus 4's OS look like an iPhone with IOS7! MIUI also features animated symbols, like the calendar or clock app. Their symbols change according to time/date. Same applies for the data usage icon. After you have set up your data plan's limit, the icon will update automatically, depending on your data usage.
I can suggest the pacman rom.
It's kinda paranoid android, aokp and cyanogenmod mashed into one

Welcome to the Nexus4 and Happy Flashing!
Thanks guys for all the help . i really appreciate it . I still have one question about the rooting method, i actually saw couple of methods on how to root N4 running android 4.2.2, well now after i upgraded to 4.3 im a bit lost on whats the best method to root N4, just wanna make it right and dont wanna ruin this lovely sweet phone lol.
I have tested just about every rom available to my galaxy note n7000, and come to one conclusion: Carbon rom is a clear weiner for me.
The reasons to which I have concluded this? Well....
Bam is great, but I've found it slowing my device down.
Slim is fantastic, however it lacks quite a few of the pretty making tweaks I have come to covet.
Omni has even less tweaks.
PAC is fantastic too, but due to it having paranoid android, I don't have access to the extra settings I have with xposed app settings.
Paranoid lacks the pezaz a serious greeny such as myself wants. Made by men for men, in my deepest voice.
And all the modded stock roms are great too, but...... nav bar without tablet, I like using my stylus, and don't wish to whip a finger out to do simple tasks.
Yes yes I can hear all the digital intellectuals saying, 'What? Who? When? How?'
But considering even more noobs than ever are judging these masterfully baked Roms, an ignorant judgment has to be considered.
Why carbon? It's pretty, has all the tweaks, plus allows for xposed. Ahhh, I'm in love.

LOL "weiner".

Good for you... Have tried quite a bit myself (you forgot to mention the supernexus like ROMs) and always reverted back to touchwizz stock ROM. Lately a few days back I chose omni with KitKat and I think I might settle for some time on that one. Love its fluidity memory management must be great as now I can open several apps without feeling any lag. That may be placebo but I just think it is way over any other ROM nowadays.

Hello been away from the rooting scene for a while and have just started to get back into things. I have rooted my Samsung s3 and wish to find a decent rom that has no bloatware and is very good with battery life. (Note I do have the zero-lemon 7000mah battery)
I have already rooted and installed cwm touch v6.0.4.4 and here are my other specs:
GT-19300
cwm v6.0.4.4
android 4.1.2
base 19300xxemg4
kernel 3.0.31-1314436
build jz054k.19300xxemg4
So any ideas which roms are very good! also I hear if using jelly bean there are some things you can do to stop the battery from draining?
What rom best rom posts are not allowed and questions go in Q&A

sorry can a mod please move into the relevant sub section thanks
Battery life is highly subjective and I think you know that.. Others may have superb battery life on a rom which you think sucks battery life-wise.
NeatROM is a good option if it's still around.

I have tried many of the ROMS available on this forum and all have their pros and cons. However I always find myself going back to a stock ROM and here is why:
1) With AOSP/CM11 based ROMS camera quality suffers and I hate not being able to use the camera's full capability. With some easy little tweaks you will get the camera to work properly but the quality is not at par with the stock camera! Performance is typically very good with these ROMS.
2) With most of the Samsung based custom ROMS get ready for a FC every now and then, plus other issues with ported apps designed to work on devices with twice the memory of the SIII. Performance varies from one ROM to another but I have found most of them to have high memory usage resulting in lag from time to time.
Installing the latest official firmware (eg. ML4, deodexed and rooted if you wish) and using Titanium Backup to uninstall bloat is probably the best option for both stability and battery performance, at least that's what I've concluded after spending most of the past 30 days swapping from one ROM to another
Disclaimer: This is just my 2c, other people's opinions may vary
That's why I hate rooting/installing custom ROMs. First FC's much, second one has bad camera, third one has bad battery life and etc.
I haven't bought my phone to install a new ROM everyday and just test and test and test. I bought my phone to use it as it is daily without flashing things, testing and etc. And I'm quite happy. Even with bloatware my phone lasts as long as I expected and multitasking is clear with no lags.
if u want the best output from the camera do stick to stock rom
as of speed and smoothness u may try the cyanogenmod 11 ,it is way cool and fast(no fc for me till now)
other reason for rooting and flashing custom roms is that u get control over your device
i waited for 3 months for 4.3 update but didn't get it and now i rooted and flashed cm11 and its way better now(voided my 9 months warranty though )
(note-i usually flash and root my phones so its my personal opinion )

I also had very good performance with the Supernexus rom and did not experience any fc either.
However I had the usual camera quality issue and another issue with slow charging from an outlet or usb. The battery was discharging faster that it was charging when I'm using it during charging. The problem went away as soon as I flashed the ML4 stock ROM and the overall battery has also improved significantly.
