Before you do anything else, make a backup. do it now.
don't even read anything else until you've done that.
seriously. stop reading. make a back up. you reading this means you're getting ready to start flashing things when you don't know if it will work.

download

(thanks to ethanmars)
and follow the instructions on the side of the download page
after you follow the instructions regarding cmkeyguard, as written on it's download page from the link i provided,
reboot into recovery
flash the modified script OTA for 38R
at this point, i flashed a superuser zip (i use supersu, but superuser would probably work. i flashed this 'just in case'. i don't know if it works if you do not flash it)
i also flashed the 61 gold AK kernel for the 11S here
AK is a great developer. probably the most responsive one from whom i've heard this dude
anyway, that worked. before trying to flash 38R, i was running 33R with ak, and a modified lockscreen using this method thanks to this guy.
happy hunting.
this worked for me.
this worked after other methods would fail. i had to go through multiple restores.
my problem was that i was running the 'custom' slide screen on stock 11s, but modified as per
this thread
by this guy
i had been getting multiple 'cmlockscreen' failures, preventing it from booting properly.
Damnnnnnn i did not realise your thread.... I did a clean flash of 38R instead..... But still great work for putting this up!
After a half day war with this update yesterday, i've succeded by doing almost the same you say. by the way, thanks for the tips.
after 2 hours try fixing yesterday, I found the solution thanks to Vomer post, flashing throught fastboot the system, boot and twrp img...

Hi there! Today i had the OTA finally on my way but i had the modified lockscreen. I then came across your post and i tried to follow your step but with no luck:
1) the link to the OTA are just member profile but i think i can find the modified ones in the "official" thread in here
2)when i tried to perform the action listed in the page you linked to the CMkeyguard.apk i cannot delete the apk from my phone and i don't know how to do it from the PC. I tried then to flash it with the .zip provided by NunHugger (the creator of the modified lockscreen) but still no luck with the original update.
there is a way to perform the ota directly from the updater on the phone or i have to do it from the TWRP with the modified one only?
Also, reading through the thread of the lockscreen, i've read that i can perform a flash of boot.img... question is where to find it?
EDIT: I found the boot.img into the toolkit, so if i perform a flash it should be all back to normal without loosing any data, am i right?
Thank you!

ah, you're right. i fixed my link to the post with the modified script.
in order to delete the file cmkeyguard.apk, you need a file browswer with root access. i use es file explorer (among others).
So I have SM-A300H and I wanna go back from Lollipop to Kitkat basically.
Why? I need xposed framework, and in order to get xposed framework to work in Lollipop I first need to install TWRP Recovery, and then DEODEX it. But it's impossible to install TWRP on my phone. I've tried two different PC's with Odin to install TWRP Recovery using the file from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sam...overy-twrp-2-8-7-0-samsung-galaxy-a3-t3173382
Odin finds my device, but when I reboot the phone I just get same old recovery as I had before... I'm following the instructions so I have no idea why it doesn't work for me.
So I just wanna go back to Kitkat so I don't need to install stupid TWRP Recovery and do stupid DEODEXing. I´ve been trying for weeks to get this to work.... I wanna go back to Kitkat please. Can I do that with Heimdall on my mac? HOW?
By the way I tried to run Jodin online on my mac from here: https://builds.casual-dev.com/jodin3/ but I only get this stupid freak error that I cannot solve: JavaFX 2.0 is required to view this content but JavaFX is currently unsupported on this platform.
Please consult the JavaFX documentation for list of supported platforms.
I googled the error but nobody else had any problems with this error before.
And I tried to download Jodin from this stupid link that doesn't work : http://goo.gl/vRN7yr so I'm completely stuck. I asked the moron that works in the cell phone repair shop here where I live but the moron didn't even know what Odin was, and didn't know what TWRP was either...
It's out of date.
Follow the instructions EXACTLY in this thread and you will have TWRP.
In particular about booting to recovery immediately after flashing.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3362283
Also you don't need a deodex rom any more for xposed.

OK, thanks. But none of the download links are working in the thread you recommended me, have you got another download link to share?
I've been working on getting xposed framework to work for two months now. All I want is to install xposed framework on my sm-a300h. Can it really be that hard that it should take up all my waking time during two months to install it?????
My system has been deodexed by someone else, so don't ask me how he managed to make that work.
Tried to install TWRP by following instructions here!: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sam...overy-twrp-2-8-7-0-samsung-galaxy-a3-t3173382
Managed to get TWRP to work!
I had already installed XposedInstaller_3.0-alpha4.apk
With TWRP I tried to install this (Xposed framework):
xposed-v84-sdk21-arm.zip from http://dl-xda.xposed.info/framework/sdk21/arm/xposed-v84-sdk21-arm.zip
When I restarted I suppose I got a so called boot loop, I just see the Samsung logo over and over.
So my two questions are,
1. Why didn't it work to install Xposed Framework?
2. How do I get out of the boot loop and get the phone to work again? haven't made any backups.
Has anyone installed xposed framework on this model or should I sell the piece of s*t phone and try with some other phone???? I'm wasting my life trying to get this to work....
My head's just spinning trying to find information in different threads in here, I'm think I'm on the limit to having a nervous breakdown. As far as I can see there's no thread on how to install xposed framework on sm-a300h? Please, help. If I need to buy a new phone, just tell me what phone to buy, and how much it is and ill buy that phone instead...
I guess I have to flash a stock rom in order to get my phone working again?
I downloaded a stock rom from sammobile for my device, A300HXXU1BPA1_A300HUUBBPA1_BVO.zip but the only way I can flash a rom now is through odin, but odin doesn't take .zip files. So how can I restore my phone and flash the zip?
I tried the Wipe function in TWRP, but it doesn't work... Still boot loops.
I guess the mistake I did was flashing the wrong version of xposed framework for my device?
Which version should I use the next time i try?
Does this work for my device? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64900847&postcount=3681

Instead of second guessing then getting frustrated and annoyed when it doesn't work. Why not just spend literally 2 mins and make a proper backup first then if there are any issues just restore it?
Whats the point in having a custom recovery and not using it's main feature?
You've only got yourself to blame for your errors and resultant frustration and anyone else reading this should also take note.
Anyway pet talk over.
You should be good with the link you posted.

Did everything again from the beginning, flashed a ROM from sammobile, flashed TWRP.
Installed XposedInstaller_3.0-alpha4.apk
Then I tried to install this version of xposed framework: http://www.arter97.com/browse/tmp/hsk/xposed/ using TWRP.
Then I got an error while installing xposed framework. The error message says i need to free up more /system space. arter97 recommends in his thread that you "debloat your current ROM installation via root access.", but how do I do that?
And when I tried to start the phone after trying to install xposed framework it went into a boot loop.
So then I tried to restore the backup in TWRP. Restore Failed.
Get this error: Cannot restore system -- mounted read only.
What now?

To restore your backup remove the check in 'SYSTEM partition read only' under MOUNT.
Make sure your rom is deodexed.
Install this via twrp: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3510616&d=1445173483
Install Xposed installer.
Done
if you bothered reading the xposed thread, you would've noticed that Samsung TouchWiz firmwares are not supported from the official xposed from rovo.
use this one from arter97/dkcldark. Keep in mind, this is for sdk21 (5.0), in case we ever get 5.1 (sdk22) or 6.0 (sk23), we wont need this one anymore.
with the dkcldark version you don't even need to debloat anymore;
I also made a tutorial some time ago; should be the same steps for this a3:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/samsung-a-series/general/tuto-xposed-odex-rom-yes-knox-0x0-t3316688/
anyway, you should read a lot first before even thinking about flashing something, and like said above, a backup is a must because even those who (think they) know what they are doing sometimes **** up
I`m using this without any issues.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-xposed-samsung-lollipop-t3180960
SDK22.
SDK22 means Android Lollipop 5.1.x.
SDK23 means Android Marshmallow 6.0.x.
ARM means the devices that are running arm32 operating system.
ARM64 means the devices that are running arm64 operating system.
Try this (at your own risk).
It`s better to flash or restore backup first and then install Xposed Installer App (as normal apk installation) and then flash this from TWRP.

Hello, I managed to get root on the new 7.1.1 firmware for the T377P. I had a problem getting any supersu zip to take and also had no luck with CF Autoroot either. I did however have luck flashing magisk though TWRP. I used the TWRP 2.8.7 modified from this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/recovery-samsung-tab-e-sm-sm-smnu-smp-t3302935 *Dont forget to leave a thanks and feedback as well*
Then after you have TWRP installed flash the magisk files ill put in the drive folder as well. Reboot and install busybox and finished.
For even easier installation I made a TWRP boot and system backup that can be restored from TWRP as well just unzip and place in your TWRP folder with other backups and just restore. Its already rooted with magisk 14.0. I used 7 zip to zip so i would use it to extract it as well. I also have the theme store installed and integrated into the launcher but its not functional until i change a file or 2 I just haven't had the time yet but I will also upload a flashable zip after i finish it. The theme store works but Samsung recognizes its a tablet so it gives you a device not supported screen I just have to change the device model in the system files.
Also I put in the drive folder a stock firmware just unzip and flash through odin 3.10.7. its untouched completely stock.
The stock and rooted are both 7.1.1 SPR_T377PVPU3CQI4 firmware.
STOCK AND ROOTED ROM. MAGISK FILE TO FLASH AS WELL
If i forgot something or posted incorrectly i apologize Im not much of a dev yet just a tinkerer that stumbles onto stuff occasionally so I haven't created many threads I just try to share when i find out something I haven't seen posted. I welcome constructive criticism too lol. Have fun any questions feel free to ask and as always enjoy
If I helped you out feel free to hit thanks
I ALSO PUT IN A FEW OTHER USEFUL FILES IN WITH THE FIRMWARES. FEEL FREE TO DOWNLOAD THERE COMPATIBLE WITH THE T377P. THE UPDATED MAGISK AIO ZIP IS IN THERE AS WELL
Almost complete theme store and UI upgrade
ok I almost have the theme store working. The only issue im having is they fail to install. im thinking its the overlay folder setup incorrectly or its in the floating feature file it does not have the changable UI in it. Another thing i did was modify the Android N UI. It now is the same as the phones so no split screen tab junk. I never liked the split screen.
Anyone with experience feel free to help out I just need the themes to install. it stops at completing download then followed by fail.
As you can see it even gives us the rounded google search bar.
In this folder i put in the updates build prop and theme support. Flash with TWRP both files then reboot. After you boot up it will say Android N is updating then it will modify your tab to a phone look with the round search bar. Still need the themes to finish installing so any help would be wonderful. see pics below
Any devs with theme store experience i have a small but simple problem im sure. Need assistance getting themes to finish installing. Thank you in advance
Please help me, i have a hard bricked SM-T377P, if you have one in hands you can help me to unbrick mine, it will take only 2 minutes! Here is my thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/help-sm-t377p-hard-bricked-debrick-img-t3711889

Yes I have installed this using the TWRP and flashing Magisk method but for some reason, many of my apps now force close or freezes but it is rooted and pass safety net check. Trying to install Xposed also brings up an error but if I read somewhere correctly, there is conflict with Xposed and Nougat. I haven't tried the TWRP backup rooted rom yet.
I installed via twrp backup, and installed the audio mod and downloaded magisk 16,works great, except the audio sounds fast and high pitched, like Alvin & the chipmunks, even with all effects disabled any idea? Also, with magisksu running the show, why is the supersu apk in /system? I can just delete that right? Thanks! =)
Update: I reflashed without wiping data and did not reflash the audio mod and that fixed the problem there! How do you install themes?

I know this is an old thread but has anyone run into the issue of google play services no longer working after flashing the stock ROM? Any idea how I would fix it? I've tried uninstalling all play services and play store updates as well as wiping cache and storage of both. I've also wiped the cache and storage of the google framework.
Do You Have Any Tutorial, Help PLZ...
I know this is a old post but thank you.I have been beating my brains with how to get texting and phone on this tablet.....you have solved that all for me.THANK YOU
i just flashed with twrp and bammm no majisk

I have a Tab E 8 (SM-T377P) and I cannot get any version of TWRP new than 2.8.7.0 to flash, Magisk will not flash, and no custom roms will install.
I've tried both lineage 15.1 and 16, both the standard and GO versions.
It's on stock firmware, 5.1
I rooted with cfautoroot with Odin 3.10.7.
Hopefully someone has an idea on what I need to do.
:edit:
I was able to get magisk installed by rerooting with cfautoroot and then doing a full unroot and restoring bootimage with supersu. Still can't install any roms though
So I was able to update to Nougat using the rom posted in this thread. It was the ONLY place I was able to find the stock firmware. I was hoping that installing 7.1.1 would put me on a new bootloader/kernel that might allow me to install an Oreo rom.
Still, the only TWRP that I can get to boot is the one posted in this thread, which is 2.8.7. The dev posted links to 3.0.2-1 that do not work, but I've tried multiple different versions of TWRP, and they all boot loop and I have to reinstall 2.8.7 via Odin.
All roms say that they are intended for SM-T377P and cancel, although my device is exactly that.
So, after doing a total wipe and flash back to stock 7.1.1 using Odin, I was able to boot back into Download mode and install the latest version of the TWRP posted in this thread - https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...official-lineageos-16-0-galaxy-tab-e-t3847488
Still won't let me install a custom rom though...
Alright got it up and running on Lineage 16.
I bought this off of eBay to use as a dashboard for my smart home. When I opened it and put it into download mode for the first time, I noticed that it said it was running a custom binary even though everything looked bone stock, it wasn't even rooted. I didn't pay it any mind and went about trying to root it and install TWRP as the dew guides stated. Nothing would work, so I decided to upgrade it to stock 7.1 since it was on 5.1. After I did this, I noticed that in download mode it stated that it was on stock binary and I was able to update to the most recent TWRP for this device. Then I was able to install Lineage and all is well now.
This thread doesn't appear to be getting any traction, but I figured I'd update it in case someone searches a similar issue in the future.

Thank you for documenting your progress.
I am in a similar situation.
I am the original owner of my t377p.
I'm going to try your steps to see if it will work for me.
UPDATE:
Flashing back to Stock and starting the process all over again, as you described above--fixed the problem. I am now running LineageOS16.
Thank you!
I'm glad it worked for you!
That's exactly why I updated the thread, I knew I wouldn't be the last one have this odd issue.
Do you have a copy of twrp the servers are down and I've been trying for week to download it
