Hi,
I'm running Jamal2367's 4.4 KitKat v3.0 on my S4.
(i9505, UK LTE variant [3 UK Model] - Baseband I9505XXUBMEA)
When i first boot the ROM, everything is fin apart from the signal, if i go into settings and manually choose (3 UK) as my operator, it connects without issues for around half an hour and then cuts off. Again, I can repeat the manual selection to get it to connect for a while before it cuts out for a second time... This continues in an infinite loop as far as I can tell.
I'm wondering whether flashing a different baseband to my phone will help solve this issue, or whether it's a ROM/Kernel based issue (Running Faux123's kernel (jgedlte-faux123-GE-KK44-014m_r2). It works fine on Jamal2367's 4.3 v2.0 ROM as i was running that previously.
Thanks in advance
Sly.
I'm using this room too... Until now I don't having no problem. Connection stable, no reboots 'till now, good battery. I'm gonna use for more few hours to see if have some bug. I'm using MJ5 modem.

Literally having the exact same issue as you. Only difference is I'm 3 Ireland. And this is the main reason I joined this forum, to be able to pass this feedback on to Jamal.
I was also using his 4.3 roms previously and have never had this issue before.
If flashing a different baseband will work, is that something that needs to be done via Odin or can it done via a custom recovery like Philz Touch recovery?

I've heard flashing modems can result in the internal and external SD being formatted... :/ Is this just from doing it incorrectly or just how it has to work? Don't want to lose my nandroid of 4.3 just incase.
As of about 1 hour ago - Had a random reboot whilst the phone was idling
Edit - 19:52 (UK) Just flashed MJ5 modem and all seems fixed so far 3G is connected straight away at first boot (Just now) so fingers crossed it stays like this Thanks darknes4o! (I saw your post on the ROM forum and followed your lil guide )
Edit - 21:17 (UK) - Flashed a newer baseband (I9505XXUEMKE) and is working wonderfully No reboots yet and data is running perfect at full speeds AndroidAndre, Try this... It works for me!!

Weird... but this issue happened to people with CM9 Alpha 12 as well so I don't think it's the ROM. Try updating your radio to the new one, or downgrade it again to the previous one.
I did them both .
any helps?
Same problem with i9020
I tried these two Roms.
http://android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/google_crespo/ZD3PyN0t.zip
and
http://android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/google_crespo/VQ8PQk_V.zip
still no WiFi !
Try to hard Reset !!
Sent from my Ice cream sandwiched Nexus S using xda premium
Same problem
Device: Nexus S i9023
Carrier: Beeline KG
Country / Language: Kyrgyzstan/English
OS: Android 4.0.3 (I9023XXKI1, 3.0.8-gb55e9ac [email protected] #1, IML74K)
Yesterday I updated my phone (official update "by air"). Everything works fine, except WiFi. It does not work!!!
I tried to hard reset with and without sim card. Without sim card WiFi works fine. But after installation sim card and restart - WiFi does not work again.
i confirm wifi doesn't work with stock 4.0.3 , but without sim wifi works properly !!
that's a comic problem that i had with all other custom ics roms except Kang and NexusVeam ones
EDIT:
for whom dont know what's the problem is , they can see here or follow my latest posts here
Oh god . nobody can help us !
Have you tried flashing a custom kernel?
Might fix the problem. Or flashing a rom like nexus beam 4.0.1, its almost stock, maybe even better. Its worth a try.
yes , it does not reboot .
i send p.m for Mr fransico and MathKid !
Your phones won't reboot?? Strange!!
What custom kernels have you been trying?
Mathkid has a new one out now and its running fine on my phone with nexus beam 4.1.0
Maybe try that combo. Or else maybe your phones are just extremely sensitive to custom voltages. Either way it is an unusual situation.

Hello,
I am new to android and have only had my s4 for about 3 weeks.
I rooted my phone with cf auto root and tried out different roms for the past 2 weeks, i mainly used Omega & echoe rom and i was using Omega at the time i experienced problems, basically my phone freezes when i call people and the screen goes black, the phone lags for a good 5-10 seconds when im unlocking the phone with a swipe & no sound comes out my s4 at all. I have tried to wipe the phone and format everything including my data & i installed Foxhound 3.1 and the problems still exist? if anyone can help me i would really appreciate it.
P.S I heard flashing the stock 4.3 rom might do the trick but i cant download from hotfile for some reason so if anyone has a torrent please link me it! thanks in advance!!

Hi, i have the same problem, so sound at all, and also no signal!
I have baseband MJ5 and Built number MJ9 (using omega v15 now)
I've tried the wifi fix you posted but no luck
Here is a more detailed description of my problem!
I have no sound at all coming from the device, I've read most threads that say no sound on the heading for I9505 and for many people flashing I9505XXUDMH8_I9505OXXDMHA_I9505XXUDMH8_HOME.tar resolved the problem but not in my case.
Last night I tried flashing I9505XXUEMI8_I9505OXAEMI8_I9505XXUEMI8 and after I changed the kernel I got some sound when turning the volume up and down but the phone was running very slow.
Today I tried flashing Omega rom v15 flashing the right modem for the new bootloader before flashing the zip and no sound, I tried changing the kernel, still nothing.
So now I'm in build number XXUEMJ9 and baseband MJ5.
I've also tried flashing stock with a pit file but didn't make a difference!

Hi all. Long time listener..first time caller.
I have an i337m Canadian S4 variant, running AOSB v.1.3.1 (CM11 based), with the latest OTA modem available at the moment to us unfortunate - left holding our jellybeans - Canadians, which is MK6. My issue on this rom has been battery drain, although the rom is quite stable, and I'm wondering if the 4.3 modem could be the culprit (or at least one of them). Battery stats shows Cell Standby is using about 20 percent of battery on LTE, and I never get more than two signal bars with LTE enabled. Anyone else with similar findings? Does this sound like it could be fixed with a modem upgrade once one arrives?

Hey thanks for the quick response. I'll definitely do that when I get home and report back with results. I didn't know that the modem could become corrupted after a rom flash, so I'm hoping this fixes it. Do you happen to know if this is a fairly common problem?

There have been quite a few complaints about data across most 4.4.2 roms, unitl we get the matching modem, MK6 is the best we can do. I know my data did improve flashing MK6 after flashing the rom even though I was already on MK6....
So I flashed the MK6 modem again yesterday - twice, to be sure - and honestly it's about the same. Not seeing any real difference at all, so I'm thinking this is probably as good as it gets until the new OTA gets pushed. Thx Gage for ur help on this
Hi I recently flashed my SM-N9005 to ZHUENB5 (official all-in-one, Odin). There was no signal (GSM or Wi-Fi) after that. I then tried flashing NB5 & NB1 modems but neither worked. After flashing XXUBMI5 (modem only) I was able to get HSPA+ signals & make phone calls. However I still got no Wi-Fi connection even though it says connected & show a Wi-Fi icon in status bar (other phones work), no matter in official ROM or CM11.
Any suggestion? Why the official all-in-one does not work (I checked re-partition while flashing but the pit file is for 16G whereas my phone is 32G)? I guess I should try other modems? It already bothered me for a couple of days so your help is very much appreciated.

To answer my own question, after so many attempts it turns out that only flashing a 4.3 modem over a 4.4 stock ROM solved my problem (even 4.4 stock won't work without flashing another 4.3 modem). That's really weird! Hardware issue?

Not hardware no, HK Firmware issue I guess. HK fw is a strange one with the N3, causes so many issues. - Least you figured it out though :victory:
Ok here is what is been happening so far..
I was on Kitkat 4.4.4 on a i9505 (can't remember the baseband info for that model - never had issues with it). I decided to update. So I downloaded a LP ROM and went ahead and backed up and then installed it. Everything seemed to be working fine except my mobile data connection. It would be stuck on 3G or H+ and when it hit the LTE (4G) it would have one bar. I never had this issue before. I was always on full LTE bars as the tower isn't far from my house.
I followed instructions n how to install new modem with LTE and how to update the bootloader accordingly. I tried more than 15 different modems with no luck.
When that failed, I flashed the stock LP ROM from SamMobile - same issue. So I decided to downgrade again to KitKat and flashed another ROM from SamMobile which is issued by Optus Australia and that failed too.
It's like there is a setting that isn't changing with flashing ROMs and stock ROMS. Basebands get updated and nothing.. I'm barely downloading at 600kbs where I was averaging minimum 1.5mb/s.
I don't know what else I've missed.. surely the stock KK ROM would've fixed the issue.. but nothing, as if I don't have LTE anymore.
You're help is much appreciated.
Over this issue =\ just want it gone.
