Hi
I have a Samsung Galaxy S i9000 running 2.2 and just did a factory reset on the handset as I had an issue with the screen lock.
That has all been fixed with the reset but now everytime i receive an SMS I receive the sms notification in the top bar with another notification saying there is a new msg. This will not go away unless u clear it every time which is quite annoying. Anyone had the same problem and know how to fix it?
Cheers!
May be you've installed more than one messaging apps in your mobile like handcent sms/chop sms. You can disable that notification in the settings of each messaging app installed.

flash your rom back. will solve the problem

Last time I attempted something like this I bricked the phone >,<
Cheers
Before you flash do a factory reset after deleting any SMS apps then reinstall them .

ODIN back to EC05 and update to EL30 via the OTA updates. Also, this is better for the Q&A section.

What is the exact error you are getting? When I tried to update, I had an error 7 because of the system/vendor/bin/gpsd did not have a matching md5. That was because I had applied the GPS_fix.zip which changed the gpsd file. After replacing that file with the original from EI22, was able to reapply the EL30 update via CWM and it worked fine.
I tried to go back to EC05 now is just bricked I could only go on Downloading mode SMH

Get a better cable and try again.

It seems to me I have no luck is there anyway i could grab it and put that installation myself
Were you able to Odin to EC05, after complete run the OTA update? If not, do that first. Or you can try adelmundos solution.
Also what rom were you previously on? Stock?
There are several EL30 packages (ODIN, Heimdall and CWM) in the dev forums for you to choose from.
I already installed the EL30 the only problem i have now is every time someone calls me I get this "The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again " and I can't answer or pick up

A known issue
After having the EL30 update installed my phone is behaving very strangely... Mainly, I can't answer incoming calls! Each time a call comes in my phone rings but an error message immediately pops up saying some application "com.android...?" is being forced to close. What the heck?!

I did it like 5 to 6 times Im tired of it Im just going to stay on EI22 and find me a good rom
Finally found the glitch
The device team and Samsung have identified a scenario with "reject call with message" that will cause this force close issue. If you have more than 5 “reject call with message” messages set up, you may have the force close issue. A “reject call with message” message is the message that you can send via text when you choose to reject an inbound phone call. The default number of messages is 5; if there are more than 5 custom messsages the force close condition will occur.
This issue will be fixed in the next software update. As a temporary fix, delete the messages from the “reject call with message” message list.
To do this, go to Menu > Settings > Call settings > Reject with message. You will see the complete list of available messages and you need to ensure it contains no more than 5 entries. If the list contains more than 5, choose the menu key and select “delete”. You should see a select option box next to each message. Check the box next to the message that should be removed and select 'delete' one last time.
Hi, I realize this issue has been resolved (for you) -- just wanted to post my fix, as I was having the same problem but this wasn't the culprit.
I had frozen 'SNS' in Titanium Backup after reading some freezing posts; unfreezing it solved my force closes!
Hopefully this will help someone who stumbles across this post as I did
I had a similar issue with force closes from com.android.phone when a call came in.
I used Titanium Backup to wipe data from Phone, PhoneCrashNotifier, and PhoneUtil, and then used ROM Manager to do a permissions fix. Cleared it right up.
I flashed a stock rom of sprints kitkat 4.4.2. Updated to lolipop 5.0.1. Rooted my phone and every time i goto Logs, it says "Unfortunately Phone has stopped." I tried to clear cash in ohone app and nothing works. I have 3 Phone apps to begin with in Applications Manager. Please help, i can call and receive calls but i can not goto logs.
I recently switched from AOSPA after not being particularly impressed and went back to oxygen. However, after attempting to send a message I was unable to send one and noticed that I also am unable to receive. Phone calls and cellular data seems to work perfectly. I have flashed the proper firmware and reflashed the OS several times, but for no avail. I've also tried to clear cache l, but still no luck. I haven't been able to test the SIM card on another phone yet, but as the problem started as I switched OS I doubt that the problem lies there.
Some weird things I've noticed:
- Both Facebook and Google Messenger refuse to even attempt at sending a message, whereas textra pretends nothing is wrong
- In gsam battery monitor the phone line is greyed out
- Right after boot a message saying there is no service appears, but disappears fairly quickly.
Thanks in advance!
And this is after clean flash? Also without trying to restore any data using Titanium backup or other?
Clean flash, but I did use titanium backup. Guess that could be the cause. Seems like I'll have to do another clean flash anyway.
Hi guys, I need help with my SM-N910G. Yesterday the SMS suddenly stopped working. I was using the Nemesis Note7 ROM. Whenever I send a text message, com.android.phone crashes and the SMS app crashes. The messages won't go through. Now I am on RR 6.0 but it's the same issue sans com.android.phone crashing. I'm starting to believe this is a hardware failure. Any help is appreciated. By the way, call and data works - only SMS stopped working. On both ROMs the IMEI and baseband are valid and same with the SMS center number.

Try flashing stock using odin
Thanks for the response. I was able to determine the problem. My SMS is blocked by my carrier by unknown reason and the ROM doesn't know how to respond whenever the SMS is rejected thus com.android.phone crashing. The same ROM works with a different SIM as long as the SMS goes through. I'll be changing phone numbers for now. Thanks again.
