I've been using a n9005 bought unlocked in europe (Romainia) in Asia. I had my local service provide me with a new 4g sim. And they helped me connect to 4g using a 3rd party app from appstore to toggle 4g. (Viaero 4G Toggle)
Since the latest Samsung update i am unable to use the app -- and have no way to toggle the same. How can i enable 4g? shall i flash a different region rom? Of shall i change CSC? (tried once it never worked!) I am on XXUMDJ7.
If i should try a different rom or CSC which one?
Any help is appreciated (googled but couldn't find much useful.)
Not clear what you are reporting/asking.
It seems that you did have an N9005 (region-locked for EU but not carrier-locked) and you were using it somewhere in Asia (where?) with a local SIM that was working. Now you had the MJ7 update and the local SIM is no longer working - at all or just the LTE part? Do you still have the original SIM that you first used when you started your N9005 (or any SIM from EU)? Does that one work? (but be careful with mobile data since roaming costs on that can be ugly).
I also assume you are not rooted and never had RegionLockAway.
Just the LTE part. It was never on tbe connection options menu. I used d toggle app to enable it. New updates killed the app .
I dont mind rooting. Dont care abt d warrenty. No. Never needed unlock away..

What do you have listed under Acess Point Names (APNs)? (you might need to manually add a custom entry there, you don't need root for that on unlocked phones but you need a lot of settings from your local carrier).
Also around the same menu there is a setting where you can select LTE(4G)/WCDMA(3G)/GSM(2G) modes (4G can be kind of a battery killer, with 3G sometimes close second battery killer).
I don't have that option on settings. The app i used was a work arround.
I'm wondering which rom / csc will enable it?

Or is it the modem/radio?

Hi, I feel your pain and know exactly what you are talking about.
Samsung have a special file where they define which carrier codes are allowed to have LTE.
You need root and you have to add your carrier to the following file "lteon_netlist.xml" that is located in /system/csc/common/etc.
Study that file, make a backup and add your carrier there, reboot and the LTE option will show together with 2G and 3G
Enjoy!

Thank you. You are a genius! I had to do a CSC change to make that show up after changing the file. (It didn't get picked up on reboot.)
Before your reply, I'd looked over the CSC folder through XMLs -- but focused on the individual CSCs! wasted a good few hours digging up online and playing with Odin too.
Thanks again -- I am sure many will have this issue when they travel. Or, like me they would want to pick a European phone coz Samsung in some Asian markets don't offer LTE models (even though in Colombo and in this country, there is LTE all major urban/suburban areas!)
If someone else is looking this is what they need to modify. (on lteon_netlist.xml"located in /system/csc/common/etc)... create a new entry/ies - you need to put your network numeric code -- which an online search will get you, and the name and the country. like what i did, below!
<whiteLists numeric="41301" ltestate="PS/CSFB" operator="Mobitel" country="Sri Lanka" defaultMode="GWL"/>
<whiteLists numeric="41302" ltestate="PS/CSFB" operator="DIALOG" country="Sri Lanka" defaultMode="GWL"/>
And i can't believe that samsung cant just add all LTE enabled networks by default. They make top of the class HW, but the decision making is abysmal! Can't wait to get my hands on Cyanogen!

How did you do a CSC change? I have similar issues(bought HK 9005 and using in new zealand) and changing the common/etc/lte_netlist.xml does not work for me. I even tried to flash a local CSC which made the phone look like a branded phone but still no lte option by default.
My alternative solution is to modify the /data/propert/persist.radio.lteon file after rooting.
i did this but it not working my phone also i dont know why my phone is note 3 sm-n9005 can u explain to me how to do it

It didn't work for me either, until i changed the CSC code for the phone -- apply any available - I am on BTU. The settings get applied once you do that only. Try CSC changer app by Manniakk from google play!
Of course that resets your phone -- so you might wanna back up your data!
Have you tried dialing *#2263#?
If yours is sm-n9005, you should be able to choose lte/wcdma/gsm band manually.

Same Issue with LTE in Colombo
Without altering the CSC and rooting is there a way to enable LTE by flashing a supporting ROM from a supporting region.
Mine was purchased in Malaysia (n9005) and already tried BTU but nothing.
AP is changed to N9005XXUDMK2
CP is the same which is N9005XXUDMJ7
CSC is changed to N9005OXADMK2
When i go to Settings - About Phone
Baseband is still N9005XXUDMJ7 and not changed.
Have i done anything wrong here. And the weird issue is i have nothing, Not even the standard 3G or HSPA+ service. NO DATA at all.
Please guys need help as im a noob
Hi. im using a N9005 with HK TGY firmware and couldnt get the LTE option available. Anyone know how to activate the Service Mode menu via the dialer app? i tried *#2263# and it didnt work.

By modifying the "\system\csc\common\system\etc\lteon_netlist.xml" file, you should also modify the file "\system\csc\BTU\system\csc\contents.db" to reflect the change of the size of the the file lteon_netlist.xml.
To do that, open contents.db file by using Hex Editor, search for "lteon_netlist.xml", you will see this string will follow by 2 bytes, e.g 34 85. This is the size of the file lteon_netlist.xml (in HexaDecimal. In Decimal it will be 13,445). Now see what is the size of your new lteon_netlist.xml file, convert it to HexaDecimal, and then put it in the place right after "lteon_netlist.xml" string.
For example, if your new lteon_netlist.xml file has a new size 14,525 (in bytes). This value will be 38 BD in HexaDecimal. Then put this value in the contents.db file, right after "lteon_netlist.xml" string.
Sorry for my poor english
Ok now I know you can edit the LTE file but this doesn't resolve the basebands the N9005 reads right?

Dial *#1234# in telephone stock dialer then check wikipedia for country codes.
Edit: Sorry - wrong about that! That dial code just gives the name of the CSC file, but if you make an xda search on that file name, you may find someone has already generated the blocked country list from that file. I think someone also might be preparing a guide on how to find the CSC file and extract the list from it.

Hello guys,
Does anyone work on unlocking the new Region Lock for i9500 ?
I know some work being done for note3, but what about s4 ?
I'm stuck with a US locked i9500 (outside of US). The "activation" with US sim did not work (it worked in US but once i'm abroad it is locked, but even here works with american sim). I can test things on my phone / provide logs if needed.
thanks,
Im actually also having the same problem. I even tried unlocking through code and using apps,didnt work for me
maybe this works
I haven't tried but you can check these methods.
1. I heard that root is needed together with the app like region lock away.apk by chainfire
2. Further, it seems that purchasing a SIM unlock code not only unlocks the device’s SIM, but also its region.
3. With root explorer navigate to system/csc/customer.xml*file (if you can)
It will contain list of Network Lock fields including one for your country MCC for e.g for Thiland it's MCC is (520) and China MCC (460).You can find your country mcc by googling.
Thailand NetworkLock field in CSC file might look like:*<NetworkLock>520BB</NetworkLock>.
China NetworkLock field in CSC file might look like:*<NetworkLock>460BB</NetworkLock>.
This would help understand what might be the reason for the change in lock state whether it is a change in the regional NetworkLock list in the CSC .
Find your country in which you are in respective mcc code and search in the xml file if you find it delete that mcc code line and save it. But please don't forget to make backup in case if it doesn't work
Tell me if it works otherwise some other person will surely help you guys.

1. Tried the RegionAway app v1.3 by chainfire. it was sucessfull but nothing changed. it is still locked. ( the app is designed for note3 as far as i understand)
2. i've heard about many who tried their luck with purchasing codes - it does not work. Also confirmed with unlocksamsungonline.com it wont help
3. my customer.xml does not contain the string "lock". This is probably because i've downloaded and flashed an official version of my local firmware. (thought maybe it will unlock) - it didnt. Also tried to flash older modems - or it does not work completely or still locked.
Also got a comment from unlocksamsungonline.com that "I9500 is Andriod1 model with new EFSv2 security" and is a problem ....

my CSC is : N9005OXXENB1 , AP N9005XXUENB4 and CP N9005XXUENB1
I have rooted my device as i heard that might help? but havent changed any settings?
I am kind of a noob in all of this ?
would really appreciate your help ..

It does not matter. First at all you have to see it in options and set it on. Second is if your provider enabled it to use. Make sure that you have USIM instead regular SIM card fitted to proper size.

I Had The Same.Do This:
using root explorer go to:
system/data/property
using its text editor open the file:
persist.radio.lteon
change from false to true
REBOOT
IT COMES UP AFTER 3 REBOOTS FOR ME
Sorry For The Quote
This is something I deal with about 18 times a day these days... The joys of a provider launching LTE...
What happens is that each csc version has its own file with in it a list of all providercodes followed by a 1 or 0. If set to 0, the LTE option doesn't appear in the interface.
The sneaky buggers disabled the dialer code for manually enabling network mode on the Note 3. So ODIN is the best option.
What you have there is XEF, France. Since Three doesn't appear to use branded firmware, you need to flash BTU over it. (this wont trigger knox if you use the official firmware)

I have my S7 Edge for a month now , everything used to work fine (located in Pakistan)
Two days back I flashed a new Stock Rom from UK to check country restricted apps (there were not much though) and I noticed on that ROM USSD codes were not working and neither do my sensors.
Now I reverted back to stock rom of my region, now the sensors are fine, but USSD codes are still not working. I tried the 2 ROM available for my region thrice, but still the same issue.
Please suggest what should I do?
Note: I didn't root my phone (because don't want to void my warranty since I paid extra $150 for that) nor do there's any network restriction on USSD.

You need to change your CSC to any other region or country.
The UK CSC no longer allows using the USSD codes.
I had the same problem using USSD so I just changed to a different CSC.
Once I changed to a different CSC the USSD codes worked perfectly.
Go to this link to download twrp flashable CSC's for your phone.
You will see a large selection to choose from:

The root method does NOT trip knox! Stop spreading your nonsense lol! It is done with the Samsung official engineering bootloader. Again, WARRANTY VOID: 0x0 :good::good:
I have been flashing/testing different carrier's firmware and have rooted the phone pictured below 3 or 4 times now and, as you can see, it's golden. Currently it is G935U but originally it was from Sprint.
hi,
i have the same problem on my galaxy s7 SM-G930 F
NONE of the ussd/mmi codes work!
when i type the code nothing happens
i instaled the PhoneINFO app and in the CSC Code card the Original CSC Code field is empty
but all other fields are filled:
Product code:
sm2g930fzsadhr
original csc code:
firmwares csc code:
DHR
Active csc code:
DHR
Availabile csc codes:
CRO, DHR
CSC Country:
Croatia / HR
Mobile Operator:
HT HR / 21901
how can i fix my s7 so CSC Codes can work again!
How to fix invalid MMI code on samsung galaxy s7
I have the same problem on my galaxy s7 SM-G930F.
When I check Divert if Unavailable (62) using *#62# I get the error
"Connection problem or invalid MMI code."...
It turns out that the G930F (BNIB sealed) I bought was a grey import and even though the hardware G930F is international, the firmware loaded is for the UK and the Phone INFO app shows the CSC to be "BTU" (see CSC codes) . And so even though the phone is unlocked, it does not function 100% in the Australian mobile network.
To fix this I had to flash the AU firmware for the CSC code XSA found at
SM-G930F — Galaxy S7 firmware
using ODIN.
After this the CSC is updated to XSA and all USSD codes work perfectly!
No rooting required!
A bonus for having the correct CSC/firmware for my S7 is that VoLTE now works with the carrier!
am using Sprint version note 3. the N900P, i installed Darklord it worked great tho no network signal (can't make calls) then tried AryaMod also great ROM very smooth and work perfectly tho the LTE/4g or any network data is not working (Can make calls but no internet if no wifi ) then tried Phronesis again work great no LTE/4g then again tried the NX MAX or something like that then Remix restriction i think the name of it. AND AGAIN work great smooth but the LTE/4g or 3g won't work. you end up with a device that has no internet out of your home XD I mean i don't know what to say to thanks the devs for giving this for free like really wow its amazing work and its all there to download with one click really thank you... although i don't get why the sprint version is even there as one of the supported version if its not really working... anyway this is not my point i just wanna ask if someone tried ANY ROM on SPRINT N900P Sprint USA version and it actually worked (worked as just worked) am not looking for perfection when am downloading something to modified my device i understand its stupid to ask for that. want perfection go spend 800$ and buy new) am just asking for a phone that make call text and have internet lol
TL,DR Is anyone Live in the USA and with Sprint version have the galaxy note 3 N900P version that tried any Marshamallow or nougat rom and it actually worked pls ? thanks in advance
Problem is this is not the Sprint forum and Devs do not have a Sprint to work on .

Make sure after installation that the right APN is checked in the mobile network settings.

It also requires some changes in the build.prop file to prefer cdma and network settings associated with cdma which I don't remember right now. Even then, depending on the rom, none of that will change a thing. I learned a hard lesson to never get a cdma phone again, since my n900p is now on gsm, has no issues with roms anymore.

i totally agree, for an S7E port for example, which i think better than Note7 ports, here what is exactly needed :
1- choose SPR as csc code in aroma installer (original Darklord S7E port have this choice, AryaMod don't)
2- Check if these strings exist in build.prop or manually add them
Code:
ro.build.flavor=hero2ltespr-user
ro.product.name=hero2ltespr
ro.product.device=hero2ltespr
ro.build.product=hero2ltespr
telephony.lteOnCdmaDevice=1
ro.config.multimode_cdma=1
ro.use_data_netmgrd=false
persist.data.netmgrd.qos.enable=false
ro.config.combined_signal=true
ro.telephony.default_network=10
ro.cdma.default_numeric=310000
ro.cdma.default_alpha=Chameleon
3- unzip then put the attached library to "system/lib/" (set permission to 0644)
4- Finally, check the correct apn in settings.
I think that's all it takes.
Thank you for your answer. appreciate the help and info. but it actually work now been 2 days after updating and it work like EVERYTHING sms,mms,calls, LTE, 3g everything is actually working thanks to this thread

read it all and this is what i did. flashed Aryamod. (am sure any other good ROM will also work) then flashed the file in the 5th or 6th page the fixed file the dude links the NVMO i think the name of the file that choose the network for you NOT THE ORIGINAL one download the one that the dude linked in the 5th or 6th page he said its the fixed one... then after flashing the rom open the phone then finish the installation then switch off the phone and flash the network file and choose Sprint i didn't have any need to do the APN (actually the APN was and still grayed out for me i can't change anything i even bought a pro version of APN manager and didn't have any use for it cause the phone is actualy working...
in case this didn't work flash the network file first then the ROM file and open the phone finish installation then close and flash the network file again... hope this will help.
the only reason i went for Aryamod cause i like it this method MAY (not sure) work on any other ROM darklord or whatever you like you can try its fun lol
this is the file you need to flash after flashing the ROM and open your phone and finish installation flash this file. in case the link didn't work for any reason get it from this page
