[Q] is my nook NST glowlight new? - Nook Touch General

I have ordered NST glowlight on ebay and i am suspicious if it is really new or not.. in wifi settings, i see the access point "B&N Store" saved.... maybe it was used as a demo unit in a store?

I purchased mine at WalMart and it also had a B&N Store in the WIFI settings, as did my non-glowlight Nook Touch purchased from Staples. I believe this is a standard part of the Nook build.

[Q] Kindle 3g Demo Unit

I have recently acquired an Amazon Kindle 3g from a friend. It is a demo unit and stuck on a demo loop. I've tried everything I can think of but my computer doesnt even recognize when I plug it in. There is also no way to access the setting on the kindle, you can just browse the preloaded books. Is there a way to fix this?

Porting Kindle Touch software to NST (with or without Glowlight)

Hi everyone,
I am a Kindle person who is about to own NSTwG. I was wondering if anyone has come across the idea of porting Kindle Touch software to NST (with or without Glowlight). How difficult do you think it would be? Or having an emulator that can emulate such a device.
plan: My intention was, given over time OTG support for USB 3G can be added by hackers here in this forum, one would be able to use their NST as their Kindle Touch 3G without needing to carry around the latter all the time.
Cheers

Although you can get usbhost mode with NST. It won't be able to provide much power I would think. I suspect not enough for a 3g connection I would have thought without a powered hub or battery source providing additional power. Also if it did it would reduce you battery life so much it would not be worth it.
Do you not have a phone? Share your phone data 3g with NST over wifi.
You can run an older version I believe of the kindle software. If you don't get on with the app because its a bit naff you could remove DRM from your kindle books and read no a normal ereader.

Thanks for the reply. I'm more interested in running/emulating the KindleOS (Well... Linux) on NST... Wow, do you mean that's possible? Any pointers please.
I know there is Kindle App on Nook, you mean that or actual KindleOS?

[Q] Transfer "Game Status" files from one N7 to another

My son's N7 has a broken screen. It costs >$100 to have the digitizer replaced, but I can buy a used N7 for about $80. It makes more economic sense to buy a replacement tablet than to fix the existing tablet, but he doesn't to lose his "game status" in various games on his existing N7.
Q. - Is it possible to clone one N7 to another (identical model, OS, kernel, etc.) such that he can pickup where he left off on any games he's played?

[Q] Alternative ways to have always on Assistant?

Hi there!
Like many others, my Shield TV also received the Experience 6.0 update. And, since my device is from the first generation, I was wondering if there would be a way to have always on functionality for the Assistant.
Of course, I know that there is the option to buy a second gen controller but, at 70€, that would be a bit too steep for the added functionality.
So, is there a change to add an always on microphone to the 1st Gen Shield TV? Maybe through an USB sound card? Any other ideas?
Thanks!
You can probably buy a cheap usb microphone from amazon or best buy something like that and plug it in or even use an old webcam that has a mic and plug it in I had an old Logitech one laying around and i used it like that basically the shield just needs a mic , so it would probably work it worked with the google search when i tried it.

Is the Read-In-Store feature still part of the software running on newer B&N tablets?

Is the Read-In-Store feature still part of the software running on newer B&N tablets?
I have an old Nook HD+ and I still use the Read-In-Store feature in my local store. Will anyone confirm whether or not this is still a feature of the newer software running on the newer Nook Tablet 7" (8GB) or the Nook Tablet 7" (16GB)? This feature doesn't show up any longer in any of the sales/advertising for these tablets, but it obviously still works in the stores if you have a tablet capable of it. I'm just trying to confirm weather or not this works with either of these newer tablets.
Thanks.
