I got this note 3 from Hong Kong and I'm trying to use it with Wind Mobile sim card but it gives me "not registered on the network" when i try to make a call. I read about region lock and not sure if this is the case. If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know.

Looks like a region lock issue, you should have used it once in HK, on a HK simcard

If the Note3 was bought from a carrier it might be carrier-locked and you will need to buy an unlock code.

It cannot be carrier locked as HK law does not allows selling carrier locked handsets

I think I had this issue once when my carrier mistakenly locked my sim. Did you activate the sim card? As long as it's not activated here in my place (like when you buy a prepaid card at a supermarket and haven't registered your name via internet), it will not connect to the network.
ya tried another sim. found out that the phone does not support aws band which my carrier is on. now i need to find how to unlock aws band. anyone can help?

Don't buy the Note 3 if you plan to travel outside your country. It is as simple as that. Even the so called activation does not work. Look for another manufacturer.

There have been some reports that this isn't always the case, although there are more reports confirming this is correct, I myself am lead to believe it is. I'll know soon enough... MIddle eastern Holiday coming up.

Ok So I have the SM-N9005 unbranded running BTU firmware.
In January my mobile network (Three (3) UK) are going 4G here free for existing customers. -- Now they have said they will send a software update to the phone to make it compatible for their network.
Now my question is --- Will I have to install the H3G firmware on my device.... or... will their network somehow know that cause I am running a 4G capable device will the update roll out to me?
I think I will probably have to put the carrier firmware (H3G) on my note correct?
Tried contacting Three about this... but they never reply to the simplest of questions.
(PS they are piggybacking on EE UK's network band if that makes any difference)
Just use btu, it will also get an up, because otherwise all 3 users that buy an unbranded phone wouldnt get LTE just chill and wait for the LTE to come 2 u

Well hopefully it'll auto roll,Three aren't that great though! so may be network specific since the phone wasn't bought directly from them - UK netowrks encourage you to get the phone from them-- I only use them cause of unlimited internet for next to nothing financially lol
I was in GB for 3 weeks and i was happy with vodafone for 1 month, and its all so much cheaper than in germany (mobile-releated)
As btu is a multi csc it will set it to h3g if u go to recovery and look at the lines in the bottom left corner, thts wht happens all day when u use it
Also 3 could send u configuration sms for the APNs like in good old nokia xPress Music times, when u used the phone the 1st time and the internet was confugured by this... good old cscless times

You will get the update when they send it. Pretty sure you won't need to change to their firmware. The sim will get the update once it's available.

You can just get an APN update via servive SMS

Anyone here successfully unlocked their note 3 with an unlock code? Where did you get and how much it cost you? Thanks, I'm on a search for those codes, I just need it region unlocked for my Asian trip. EUROPEAN NOTE 3 REGION LOCK.

The same problem but locked on middle east
i called Samsung service center in KSA , they told me i should take my n9005 to them to unlock it
and the cost will be 200SR
but i didn't go till now.
I wouldn't bother paying, I just want this unlocked really, I'll try to contact Samsung UK, hope I get the same reply from yours.
Can someone tell me do I lose waranty if I unlock my Note 3 with code? Also does this method keep KNOX Counter to 0x0?

With a code it won't lose warranty no.
Depends on the method used to achieve the Unlock as to whether you trip KNOX - Samsung does it for you = safe
Region Away by CF = Potentially trips? (not read up on this app so not sure)
I received my unlock code along with the phone i purchased on ebay. Everything is working smoothly no region lock problems

Did you flash unbranded onto it? Because to my knowledge tmo only gives out branded devices except for the first batch....

Where can I get the LTE MODEL (N9005) completely unlocked including regional unlocked.
Looking for a shop where I can pick it up and check it out before I leave.
I may have a connection in London too.
Any ideas where I can find this device at those two destinations ?

In London Phones4U normally have them in stock Sim-free. Not cheap though - £620. http://www.phones4u.co.uk/shop/shop_justphones_details.asp?Itemkey=714026 probably cheaper in US, if you can get the 9005 there.
Alternatively, you may find a boxed one on Gumtree in the UK but it'll be a private sale, cash only and riskier.

What do you mean by "region unlock it from ebay" ?
What i constantly see is N9005 mentioned as SIM Free but many are Region locked to EU.
i dont want to patch the device or hack it.

Just an FYI - the N9005 isn't compatible with US LTE bands (T-Mo *may* work) so you'd only get 3G/H+ only. -- assuming you are US Based obviously.

I am American but live in The Netherlands where I bought my Note 3 from Vodafone and wil be going to see my family in the states for two months and want to be able use a AT&T sim. surposelly once you actiate your region sim and make a few calls where you bought it it should be unlocked, right?
Hearing all kind of stories that only region lock will be unlocked and I will have to use my vodapone simm will work?
Just seems very unclear and wondering if there is new news to this?
Using your regions simple will unlock region lock. If your phone is locked to your network, you will either need to root and use the CF region unlock app or get it unlocked from your carrier or buy a unlock code..

You need to use a sim from the EU to clear the region lock. The specifics on how are a bit vague, some managed it with a single short call, others had to use the internet as well.
There is no provider-lock or network-lock on the phone. The EU has a law against that. (the firmware is branded Vodafone, but that's just a sticker with the logo and a few apps, really.)

did you do it while on the kitkat rom? they say it's not working now for 4.4.2?

Well I am i the states and its still locked and could not use a AT&T sim. now after being on with Samsung I had to e-mail info and they said it will take up to a week for the paperwork to go through, not holding my breath and I dont want to root this phone.
