I have owned many Android devices over the years. Every one except my Nexus 7 would dim a few seconds or so before completely turning off the display. However, my N7 just turns off when the screen timeout timer expires. Every time it turns off, you have to use the power button to turn it on. I much prefer the behavior of my other devices when it comes to the screen timeout. Is there a way to get the N7 to dim for a few seconds before going off completely like my other devices do?

Hi All,
What i want to do is how can i set a timeout for display off. That is to set, say, after 10 second, the display for my machine will turn off. Just like the time out for power off.
I am using WM6 on my Herms200, I know how to turn off the screen without poweroff. I know WM6 already have timeout for backlight and power off. But it seems that there was no timeout setting for display off.
That is a very commond features for nowaday mobile phone.
I hope my question will be a new one.
While on battery -
backlight set to turn off in 30 seconds, and power management set to turn phone off in 1 minute. at 30 seconds, the backlight gets dim, but doesnt actually turn off (weird). At 1 minute it turns the phone off as it should.
So the backlight isnt actually turning off when it should.
next....
While plugged in -
Backlight set to 1 minute turnoff, power set to turn phone off in 2 minutes while on external power. At one minute, the backlight goes dim (not off again), and the phone never actually turns off, just stays on with a dim backlight screen.
Any ideas as to why the backlight wont turn all the way off? This just started when i flashed the GPS ROM.
Hi all
I've installed quite a lot of ROMs and found lots of them have the option to dim the light and then turn the screen off pretty quickly (like 10 sec). I know that going to Power / Advanced I can change those times, but apparently only the dim is changing.
For instance... by default the screen in my current ROM (made by Topix) goes off after 10 sec. So, after 5 sec the light dims and then after 10 sec all goes black. Fine... then I change the "Turn off backlight if device is not used for:" to 30 sec, and what happens is the light doesn't dim, but after 10 sec the screen goes off.
Does anyone how to change this? Is VERY annoying :-(
Thanks
Is there an Xposed module which can eliminate the screen flicker that happens just before the screen is going to turn off? I have my screen set to turn off after 30 seconds of inactivity. About 7 seconds before it turns off, the screen dims. When it dims, it flickers like crazy. I'd rather it just stay at full brightness and then turn off. Can this be accomplished with an Xposed module? If so, which one? (You can find a list of modules by name, but not by function).
My screen always cuts off after being idle for around 10-15 seconds. It doesn't matter what I set the timeout to, it cuts off if I don't touch the screen for 10 seconds, even when I'm moving the phone around! The only fix I found was to enable caffeine, which is annoying when my screen accidentally turns on and never shuts back off unless I manually turn it off (like when my phone is in my pocket or a bag and I don't notice the screen is on). Does anybody know what to do? I already tried resetting and that didn't work.
