Does everyone understand ?
LMT Launcher is an awesome tool for sure!

Yup
I understand. But the questions still remains, What does the fox say?

Or use xposed + gravitybox and have both
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

XDA is a sad state of affairs these days
LMT is much smoother than Pie Control that Gravity uses, which is basically the PA/CM version.
This is for people who are looking for a simple solution without the bells and whistles of Xposed mods like Gravity.
People using the ROMs mentioned by users in this thread obviously don't need this. But those on stock or CM11 can benefit from it.

Well seriously... when I was on KRT16M stock I decided to not apply this method because if LMT stops we can't browse any longer. (there isn't any real reason why LMT should stop but I think it's always better to have 2 options to do one thing).
IMO it's not handy to have Back & Home buttons in a hidden menu but this solution should serve to other people.

Edit:- I'm a douche

wizz bar doesn't work on ICS now. ....

I always use Wizz Bar, but now it won't work once I updated to ICS. Now I'm sad I updated. Anyone know how to get it working?
could not find it on play
https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=SnowBEE
is the developer probably ask them if they are working on a android 4 version?
they are also on here SnowBEE
re: wizzbar
That was one of my biggest disappointments with ICS on the a500 but after discovering Nova Launcher where I can customize launch icons on the bottom... it's similar without being able to hide the icons but I find it to be a great substitute. Might give it a whirl. works great on my tab running flexreaper
Unfortunately, the ICS is currently common, application compatibility is not due to different OS. I agree, sad as the refusal of applications for Android 4.0.3.
Has anyone come across an alternative to Wizz Bar?
I do miss this App on my Tablet.
GMD gesture control.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.goodmooddroid.gesturecontrol&hl=en
it has a "launchpad" feature which does exactly what you're asking for. you can assign whatever gesture you want to bring it up.
Unfortunately it requires root, sadly which my work would not allow to happen.

I'm a huge fan of GMD Gesture Control but App Clip and ReLaunch can replace Gesture Control's LaunchPad feature really well. I don't think they require root but I'm not 100% sure..
It really sucks that Wizz Bar isn't going to be updated for ICS, but I'm running the TegraOwners ROM and can 'pin' apps to the combined bar anyway, which I think is a great approach to this problem and something I hoped would be possible while I was still watching YouTube videos trying to decide on a tablet to buy.. Hopefully one of these guys over on xda can get the same feature working eventually

Wave launcher is somewhat similwr. Not exact, but it's really good. Even better on phones than tablets.

UNROOTED Nexus 4 Tips??

Hey guys!
So I was just wondering what tips users have to make the most out of an unrooted Nexus 4. Anything from must-have apps/widgets, theming/customization tidbits to getting optimal battery life. I realize there must be threads all over the place talking about these individually
but I'd really appreciate it if everyone could simply link it all here. I want a place in the forum where users can give tips for optimizing/customizing the pure stock experience without root-requiring mods. If such a place already exists, I apologize for the ignorance. Please redirect me there. If not,
thanks to everyone in advance!!

What all things we can try on unrooted nexus 4. ? Pl help. I was about to create a thread for the same. Pl help on this.
To increase volume of the speaker and (bluetooth) headsets i use Volume+ from Google Play and that works very good for me in terms of loudness. For restoring apps and data i use Helium (Premium) and Appmonster Pro.
Check these apps (Non-Root)
Launchers
Nova,Apex or Action Launcher
Widgets
Battery Widget,Minimalist text
Apps...
Editors section from play store is helpful
Advanced apps
Tasker,Locale
hi, i'm using non rooted nexus 4.. i have nova launcher (prime) just because i like having option to change scroll effects, app icons, customize dock, set transparency etc. for widgets, i would recomend battery widget reborn, it has so many features other than just showing you battery life.. dash clock, which replaces stock lock screen adding more informations of your choice (unread sms, missed calls etc). also i would suggest lightflow, for LED and notification control, its super great. next, good file manager (im using ASTRO) and even better keyboard than the stock one, swiftkey keyboard, i'm thrilled with it.
Uccw is great for theming once you figure it out. Nova and Apex are both good for launchers. 1 weather is a nice widget along with battery widget reborn. Lightflow is great for LED customization. When it comes to theming almost anything can be done with UCCW along with nova or apex
You have a Nexus, Live a little install cm10.1 be happy

[Q] Why use CM 10.1 on Nexus 4 over stock rom?

I have stock, up-to-date Android 4.2.2.
I am trying to figure out why use CM10.1 or any other custom ROM over up-to-date stock Android Rom.
Well, for me I use stock and faux kernel @1.9ghz and I'm fine with it
Custom Roms add more features thou, I used to run aokp on my n7 but I prefer stock
Sent from my Nexus 4 @1.944 GHz on Stock 4.2.2
Mainly for the customization, and certain features not found in stock roms.
It's an user preference really.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium HD app
thank you for the responses.
Like the idea of faux kernel with Stock rom.
Also for some more optimization, and little fixes of things that Google f**ked up in their stock Android

Here are the main features that are interesting to me:
- Built-in notification light control
- SMS bonus features (quick reply, original timestamps, etc)
- Volume rocker wake
- Navring (2 other shortcuts besides google now)
- Their cLock widget is nice
- Editable toggles / quick settings + quick pulldown (pulldown from right goes directly into toggles) LOVE IT
- Torch built in..
Downsides:
- The slide up animation of google now is not as smooth and sexy
- Old calendar app (WHY U NO REMOVE IT, it's on the play store!!) though it's practically the same

The source for the Play version isn't open though, so they build from the source that is available (i.e. the current CM calendar) and I their ultimate goal is to include what you need to operate a smart phone without absolutely requiring the addition of Gapps; although 99.999% of people ultimately do.

Yea probably the same reason why there is the "stock/modded" ICS browser (I know some people prefer it). They don't want preinstalled store apps in the rom, and such things as browser and calendar are basic features expected cooked in a ROM. PA does that though and it works well I think with no legal issue.
After trying several roms,I can say the top feature of nexus is the stock android and being uptodate instantaneous ,
So why you install a custom rom ? Sure it will not be stable as stock.
Customization can be dne through apk,I use
Exdialer.
Nova launcher
Sliding messages.
Tasker
Active screen lock , sometimes
Proximity screen off
Power toggle

Any way to customize the cover screen?

So I have a flip case for the S4, and it has this little cut out of glass that gives me a black screen with some basic information in it.
I have no idea what to call that screen but is there a way to say change the black to an image, and maybe change the color of the text ?
Think it's not allowed because of the hit in battery. It's black and has limited info because of the oled screen. But there may be a way to customize.
The s view is what it is called. It can be changed with 3minit on sacs ROM.

Thanks, I have not got around to flashing a custom ROM after I rooted it. but I will check out that ROM or see if there is a way I can flash the 3minit framework to the stock rom.
It helps knowing what I am wanting to change. I was searching things like "close cover screen" and got nothing.

I do have xposed installed , and that has made it so I dont feel the need to flash a custom ROM so far. The only real things I want to change is the s-view and remove a TON of bloat from the phone.
Here is a link to the 3minit framework if anyone else sees this and wants to try.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2276611
I am going to read more about it latter on, and see if it will work with a Stock ROM - Even if not, I guess its time to flash a custom ROM anyway.

I recommend Sacs Custom Rom, Its constantly being updated fast and good battery life, all bloatware has been removed and its 3Minit certified. Check it out.
Just make sure when you modify the S-View settings you don't pick anything to bright. The phones that utilize the s-view case usually suffer from severe screen burn in after awhile.

Finding the right ROM for me

so what i really like in my stock 4.4.2 is the knock on /off and I tried CM 10.2 but sadly I noticed I dont have knock off...
I want a simple rom...I like how nexus clean version of android looks and feels..I want a minimalistic rom...
I really liked the option in the oneplus one to drow a pattern when the screen is of and activate a certian app if theres a rom wich include it ill like to hear(I guess maybe CM 11 but I havent tried it yet becuse its still in nightly version)
I have a VS980, and I have flashed most of the ROMs available in the dev section for it. I don't believe that any AOSP-based ROM is going to have knock-off, so you would have to use one of the stock based (such as Malladus or XDABBEB). These in general aren't going to have minimalist look of AOSP based ROMs though.
Your other choice is to run an AOSP ROM with Xposed. I know that the Xposed GEL Settings module has an option to set double-tap to an action, though that may be a premium feature you have to donate to receive (which I recommend anyway, as it is an amazing module).

Paranoid Android has knock on + knock off (you have to use the notification bar; doesn't work anywhere else as far as I know).

yeah but i dont want to reach every time...and it wont be comftrable while driving for example
Another option, if you're OK with using a launcher other than the GEL, is to install the Apex launcher. I believe it gives you desktop knock off in its free version.
Using this launcher, you can use any ROM you'd like, as long as it provides knock on. I think most ROMs for the G2 provide that.

I think you should search for voice controlled apps and such. I don't know if Google Voice can help you.
