Moved from a MT3G to the Nexus One, and I've been very disappointed by the Bluetooth.
The phone pairs fine with my Bluetooth devices, but it rarely transfers the audio. I've tested it on several devices:
Chrysler MyGig: pairs, but doesn't transfer audio. Carkit DOES show incoming and outgoing calls, but audio stays on the phone. Pressing "Bluetooth" in call doesn't do anything.
Garmin Nuvi 855T - pairs and calls work, but it regularly pops up with "phone connection error"
Spracht Bluetooth carkit - pairs, but same audio transfer issues as on the MyGig unit.
These three products worked perfectly with the MT3G, so I'm curious what Google broke and whether any of the other non-stock roms out there can make Bluetooth work correctly.
having issues myself with streaming A2DP in a 2010 VW. Phone works great but music clips almost like it's buffering. Issue doesn't exist with other phones.
My issue with bluetooth is I cant send files to my laptop anything works fine...
Don't know about your issue, but my N1 hasn't had any major BT problems. Occasionally it drops out while running with my Plantronics with A2DP, but that happened with my G1 too. File transfers are no problem for me either, and I never get disconnect problems. Stock rom was fine too with BT before I installed CM5. Maybe you have some app that's interfering with it? Try killing everything.
I have an aftermarket parrot bluetooth car kit and its worked perfectly with every phone ive ever had: sidekick 3, tmobile dash, bb curve, g1, bb 8900, mytouch. and now with the nexus it says it pairs but wont connect. so its completely useless. and i live in california so i have to have handsfree. bummer.
What annoys me most is a) how this wasn't picked up during testing by Google and b) how they managed to break something that worked perfectly on the G1 and MT3G.
It has been submitted as a bug in Google Code, but that doesn't mean they'll fix it. Sad that I have to use an iPhone just to make calls in my car when I paid $563 for the N1
my jawbone prime works great..
sometimes i have to send a file twice to my mac, but it does send, and i can send from mac back to the phone
Really? My first, and ongoing, impression of the N1's blue tooth is that it's really slick.
It pairs with my in dash NAV on my '09 Jetta TDI before I pull out of the driveway, every time. Phone calls always work and the A2DP streaming is flawless, this is the first device I've seen it actually work and play well with -- consistently .
The sound quality is BETTER than my iphone through the apple A/V cable; with the iphone I had to put an audio filter inline behind the dash to suppress engine noise caused by a ground loop. I'm considering removing it now since blue tooth A2DP streaming would obviously be immune to this problem.
I couldn't be happier, personally. I can control playlists from the stereo head unit or the steering wheel while the N1 is in my pocket. It's been very reliable and has performed beyond my expectations... not to mention the "wow factor" when somebody realizes where the tunes in the car are coming from.
For me, the blue tooth performance has been an unexpected bonus... It wasn't a consideration when purchasing the phone but now I feel it's become a "must have" feature.
- Honda Car Kit
- Philips SHB7100
- Gear4 BlackBox
- two Desktop Docks
are working fine.
"Audio Link" sometimes has "clipping".
Pairs fine with my Garmin Nuvi 265WT, however ALWAYS drops a call around the 5 min mark. My G1 did the same thing with my Garmin Nuvi 680.
My N1 won't work with my 08 Nissan Xterra. Pairs just fine but won't transfer audio. This worked fine with my Samsung Blast, G1 and Cliq.
There is a thread about this on the google nexus one help forum but unfortunately I'm not allowed to post external links. I'd recommend voicing your problem over there to let google know this is a widespread issue.
I have problems with my BMW Bluetooth car kit. It connects, phonebook transfers, try and make a phone call and I get no sound. Receivers phone rings but no sound in the car. Once the phone call is cut the Bluetooth disconnect and won't connect until the car Bluetooth is turn off and on.
The Bluetooth on my old iPhone worked perfect every time. I thought Bluetooth had standards and should work with any device if it supports the profile.
How hard is it, especially for a company like Google to get it to work.
My Lexus bluetooth pairs perfectly every time, and usually the call will last a couple minutes before I suddenly get no audio going to the car, or the car may say "check handset". At that point, I have to click the Bluetooth button on the phone to switch to the handset. If I restart the phone it usually works fine for a while, then this happens again. I never had a problem with 3 other phones in this car.

I've got a BMW with a bluetooth kit and have similar issues.
The way I've overcome it is to always keep the bluetooth in the car "on" and on the Nexus "off".
When I get in my car with the key fob in the ignition, enable the nexus one bluetooth and it works.
It's a pain to enable/disable the bluetooth on the handset but it works until there's a proper fix for it.
Also i recently got Modaco's Desire Rom on the handset and found the above procedure works without fail.
One other thing I noticed since having the Modaco Desire ROM is that when you're in a bluetooth call all phone audio comes from the car speakers.
Never used to happen with the stock nexus rom or my previous Touch HD.
It's cool but would be great if there was a way to enable the bluetooth audio so phone sounds came through the car speakers without making a call.

I have a very similar issues with my Nexus One and my Lexus IS350. It pairs OK. But if I make a call, the cars display flashes "check handset" and then puts the call through. I can hear the other end, but they can't hear me.
This is a "deal breaker". Guess I'll be sending my Nexus One back for a refund.
I have been unable to use bluetooth to transfer files OR to tether.
I paired it with my MotoRokr speakerphone, and it paired fine, but I didn't use it to see if it actually works.
Regardless, there are obvious issues with the BT that need straightened out.

My Nexus one will pair with my computer, but it won't send or receive a file. It won't even go to the trouble of discovering my jawbone earpiece. I'm really disappointed since this should be the simplest of tasks that such a wonderful phone should accomplish. I thought it was just my phone, but seeing this thread makes me sad that that nothing has been done and hopeful that it's more than just my phone and, therefore, there's the possibility it will be addressed in one form or another.
Ok, I played around some more tonight with bluetooth.
It works with my Motorokr speakerphone great. I can talk, make calls, etc... works well.
I got the bluetooth tether working too.
I still have not been able to get file transfers working though. They look like they send, the phone thinks it sent successfully, but the computer says the transfer was interrupted. I'm not as concerned about the file transfer as I was about getting the tether working.
paired the nexus one to my '09 Nissan GTR ... works perfectly fine ... everything works as it should, calls come in perfectly each and everytime ... i do however, leave my BT running 24/7 on both the car and phone
Hi!
I have not been able to successfully use the bluetooth on my or my mom's Moto Xs with my Mom's car's bluetooth. She has an older Lexus (2005) and it pairs/works fine with her iPhone 5 and her iPhone 4s. The car's bluetooth requires a passcode, which I know and typed in during the pairing process (not sure if this is relevant or not).
I got her a Moto X motomaker (running 4.4 out of the box) and it was difficult to get it to pair with the Lexus, but it finally did (took many tries before her Moto X could see her car's bluetooth). When I turn on the car, it says bluetooth connection successful and the phone shows as connected to the car through bluetooth but calls are not routed through the car's speakers - they are routed through the phone's external speaker. During a call when I manually try to route the call through the bluetooth connection, the display indicates that the call is being routed through the bluetooth connection but the sound does not come through the car's speaker.
On the Moto X, the car's bluetooth profile says phone audio but no option for media audio is present (not sure if this is relevant).
I can pair my Motorola Boom, Buds, Whisper and Plantronics bluetooth headset just fine with her Moto X. I did a factory reset of her Moto X and paired/unpaired the phone with the car numerous times. Same issue when I pair my Dev Ed Moto X (locked and unrooted), so this seems to be an Android problem to me since both iPhones pair with her Lexus fine and have no issue in routing calls through the car's speaker.
We are on Verizon and her phone has no apps installed on it other than what came on the phone out of the box.
Any thoughts? Is it just that the Kitkat bluetooth has bugs? I had a GNex before getting my Moto X and the last update before Google end of lifed the GNex royally screwed the bluetooth. I had hoped the Android bluetooth issues would be fixed by now, but it doesn't look like it.
I am soooo disappointed as this is a dealbreaker for her and she won't be switching to Android unless I can get the bluetooth to work for her in her car.
My one idea, put a different deck in the car or keep on iOS.

Try flashing back to 4.2.2 I'm also having issues with bluetooth on 4.4 . Or you can always install a new radio on the car.
Install an app called Bluetooth File Transfer...it is a workaround that should work

I think at this point I am going to return the my mom's Moto X. I also am going to report the problem to the Moto X team in the hopes that it can be fixed in the future. It really is ridiculous that a core function of a phone - bluetooth - is not reliable.
I believe this is an Android problem, not a Moto X problem. I had a host of bluetooth issues on my GNex after the final OS update.

I came to Android with the intro of Jelly Bean, and since then bluetooth has been borked in one way or another on every device I have had whereas iOS works flawlessly.
Don't get me wrong, I like Android... but qc is not its strong suit.
Its probably no consolation to you, but my Verizon X (dev edition) connected and worked just fine with JB 4.2.2 (pre and post camera updates) in my 2011 Saab 9-4x. Bluetooth HandsFree/Headset profiles and Phone Book Access Profile connected 99.9% of the time and worked great.
With the Kit Kat update, HandsFree/Headset still works fine with the car, but Phone Book Access has some issues. While the option is often not available on the car's screen to call up the X's phone book, scroll through it, and select a person to call, it does show the X's incoming/outgoing calls list with names rather than just numbers. And about 30-50% of the time when I look, I do have the option to view the X's phone book on the car's screen. For trouble shooting I did similar steps. Wiped, repaired, (made sure to allow phone book access), etc. which didn't fix.
70% of the time I have had a bluetooth fail, I've hit the "call hangup button" on the device (not the Moto X) and it re-pairs and is successful 100% of the time.
This is from a range of phones around the razr and note2, s4, razr hd, and even the x.
Now it's just habit to hit that button to get the device to sync/operate properly.
Welcome to bluetooth on KitKat! I'm running audio over my Aux cable until they fix this crap. FWIW, I have the same issues on my Moto X with 4.4 as I do with my Nexus 7 on 4.4.2, so don't hold your breath waiting for a fix.

Yes... but once the phone reports connected, going into Bluetooth settings and clicking settings icon to the right of the device will indicate what profiles you are actually connected to.
First delete the phone Bluetooth profile from the car. Then delete the car profile from the phone. Next change the Bluetooth name in the phone. Reboot phone and try to pair again with car. After pairing keep phone screen on and wait for a prompt asking for access to phone book etc and approve. After this it should work properly.

Exact same problem
I have a 2006 GX470. I had the exact same issue. I have had one or two calls connect through the car - these are calls that I initiated. It is intermittent.
Talked to "level3" support today. Basically they stated that the bluetooth is working fine and that I should contact Lexus since the problem seems to be on their end. The suggestion was that I go upgrade my bluetooth. I told him that I was disappointed with the product since previous iphones worked fine despite the car predating the existence of iphone. No resolution to the problem.
Will try the app mentioned and see if that helps.

I have the same problem with my 06 Lexus RX400, and my Moto X. The car shows a connection, signal and battery strength, but calls are received through the phone. It must be a Lexus issue because it works correctly with my wife's Nissan rouge.

I've had issues with stereo muting after the KitKat update. Before KitKat, my phone used to mute whatever I had playing on my stereo (radio, ipod, etc) whenever my phone played audio through Moto Assist or Google Now. Since the update, I don't hear anything when connected via bluetooth UNLESS I'm switched to the BT media option in my car.
Example:
Before, I'd receive a text and the current car audio would mute, then my phone would read the text through the car audio.
Now, I receive a text and hear nothing, and my current car audio stays at the current level and I don't even hear audio through my phone. Almost like it's playing audio through BT, but no sound is coming out.
I've paired and repaired my phone, and even checked the mute audio settings in my car. Still no luck.
Sign me up on the audio problems with BT as well. 2012 Scion xB Pioneer head unit. Pairs just fine, audio plays just fine... but when a call comes in, or is placed.. the audio is all garbled.
At first I assumed the problem was just a bad signal strength (as I first noticed it when I was sitting at low bars), but discovered soon thereafter, the problem goes away, immediately, if you simply switch to speakerphone (non-BT) mode.
Just a rather annoying problem, and only happens in my Scion (other cars work fine)... starting to wonder if it's a Toyota issue (Toyota, Lexus, Scion).
When I'm in my car and my phone is connected to my car's bluetooth, it occasionally disconnects for no reason. It happens sometimes when I'm not on a call and has also happened twice in the last two days when on a call (not very cool).
I've had my car for 5 years and gone through several phones without an issue so I can only assume it's the phone not the car.
Anyone else having this issue?

I've seen it happen once in a while w/ my Huawei Watch. I've noticed that the BT icon completely disappears from the status bar when it happens despite Quick Settings showing it as on. Tends to resolve itself after a few seconds, so I'm not sure what's going on.
If you're running Marshmallow, that could be the issue. I have connection issues with my car since upgrading to Marshmallow on my Moto X Pure. I had to:
- delete the all phones from the car.
- reset my Bluetooth on the phone (delete all connected devices)
- reboot the phone
- reconnect phone to car
It seems to work.
I had an issue where iHeart and Pandora would disconnect and connect off and on until it completely disconnect streaming to my Kenwood headunit. I would get a looking for connection message. What was going on was that my Edge was connected via wifi at my house. It was picking up xfinity wifi hotspots off and on until there were no more in range. For some reason it wouldn't switch to mobile data. So now I turn off wifi before I leave the house and the problem is gone.

I think I found a solution, go to app manager -> click more (upper right) -> click reset app preferences. Didn't have any problem in last 2 days.
not sure how will this help...but i had the "1.FM Radio" app on my phone for internet radio...and ive noticed that once i removed it bluetooth stopped dropping and connection was stable...for some reason i believe this app was the culprit.
Bluetooth is working fine now both streaming and calls...no drops ! Yaaaaay !
Try it guys...if you have this app...remove it !
I have had nothing but problems with the bluetooth on my G7 edge and my wife G6. It randomly disconnects from my cars bluetooth and disconnects from my Gear S2 watch every 10-15 minutes. It's annoying with the watch because I keep thinking I have a message but it's just vibrating to let me know it disconnected. I had a Nexus 6 for four months and never had a single problem with the bluetooth. It sucks because I really like the camera on this phone. What a POS.

You call it a POS, while saying there are some things (camera) you like. Obviously it's not a POS if you like it.
I've not had issues with my bluetooth, it does disconnect from my car once in a while, but only when I'm not actually playing anything through bluetooth. My Gear s2 stays connected as for my bluetooth headphones.

It's not just this phone, I have a 2015 Subaru WRX STI and sometimes it will be fine for days but other times it can happen a couple times on an hour drive, where music will just stop playing, my head unit locks up until I toggle bluetooth on my phone. This happened with my S7 Edge, Note 5, HTC 10, Nexus 6P, and more though.
Hey guys,
I was just wondering if anyone who has the LG V20 in their hands is also experiencing any Bluetooth Audio (A2DP) audio stuttering or skipping?
I have the AT&T version that I got early through preorder and when I am listening to music on my Ford Sync 3 in my car it is skipping and stuttering like crazy. It doesn't always do it but when it does, it is nonstop.
Not sure if anyone has suggested fixes... It does it both screen on and screen off. I don't think it's sleep related.

Could be on to something... Both Ford Sync 3 and UConnect are both made using BlackBerry owned QNX software. I wonder if something isn't jiving right between the two.
Because I have Plantronics BackBeat Sense and LG Tone Platinum headphones and neither have any issues with Spotify. Only has an issue in my car.
I even went as far as to master reset my car stereo to see if that helped. Could have something to do with the Spotify AppLink app that runs when in the car but not on a regular headset.
Try closing some apps. Also does Spotify have a cache or buffer option you can make bigger? Other than those two problems it could be signal from cellular or Bluetooth interference.
I have closed apps but have not messed with cache or buffer. I also see that track time doesnt count on screen with uconnect via Bluetooth some of the time. Truck is less than a month old and updated. Worked with my iPhone 6 plus, with the exception of album art and not being able to choose USB vs Bluetooth if both were connected. The LG isn't even detected via USB (most likely a USB C issue). I am in an airport right now and hopefully my rental will have Bluetooth to test out another connection.
I am having an issue controlling spotify when using Bluetooth in my Jetta. I can't skip tracks or control at all from my cars touch screen or controls on the steering wheel. Never had this issue with other android devices. Not sure what to do to fix but very frustrating! I have tried uninstalling spotify, wiping and repairing the phone with the car....not sure what else to do. The controls worked only the first day I had the phone. I have smart settings turned off as I thought that may have been interfering.
This is going to sound crazy, but...
I'm having the skipping/stuttering issue in my Lincoln MKC with Sync 3, but ONLY when stopped at a red light or stop sign. When driving above 20 MPH it works perfectly. This is happening in Spotify and my podcast app, and all files are stored on the phone, so it's not a slow cell connection. I just replaced my Note 7 with the V20 and the Note never had any bluetooth issues, so I'm assuming it's an LG issue that hopefully can be fixed with a firmware update.

You are not crazy. I thought I was because I have this exact same problem. I use Google Play Music, but when I am stopped (or going under about 5mph) the Bluetooth stutters. Over 5mph and its flawless. I have version 2.2 of the Sync 3 software. I am using the LG V20 and that is the only device I have tried.
Have you been able to find a solution? This is the weirdest thing I've ever experienced.

I have an LG bluetooth headset that it doesn't skip with. I paired my husband's Beats and it doesn't skip there either--ONLY in the car. I just read about someone having issues at a lower speed--I haven't been on the freeway yet, so I cannot attest to low speeds, but it's interesting. I'm a computer geek and I'm stumped! I paired it to a Sony soundbar in Best Buy today and it didn't skip AT ALL! Grrrrr!

I was running errands in Houston, close to the house, so no chance for a freeway trip yet to see if it mirrors your 20mph issue. Please reply to this forum if you end up finding a fix!
I've removed numerous apps, I've disabled sleep mode on all things Bluetooth as well as downgraded Google Music too. Uggghhh!
Try turning the vehicles wifi off using the sync 3 settings menu

I discovered it was something to do with the QNX WiFi used on Ford/Lincoln Sync 3 and UConnect in some Jeeps and such.... try turning the WiFi off in the settings menu and see if you still have the issue.

You were right! It didn't skip once when the wifi was off! Thank you so very much! :good:

It's not necessarily the phone or car, Spotify has some terrible programmers. In Oct there was a bug that stopped Bluetooth buttons from working and it took 3 releases to fix it.

I also have the att version of LG V20. Skipping does not seem to be related to my speed or anything else. I drive an Audi A4. I have this problem with both Spotify and Youtube, but not with my phone calls. So annoying!
Stuttering on Bluedio T3 Turbine Headphones
I already tried all the possible solutions from the internet. Below is the summary:
Safe Mode - still stutter
Battery Optimization OFF for Bluetooth and Music App - still stutter
Wifi OFF - still stutter
Clear data of Bluetooth and T3 Headphones - still stutter
All other bluetooth earphone or speaker - no stutter
This is weird, since the Bluedio T3 I had works fine from my old HTC 10 phone. I switched to V20 since I had charging issues with my HTC 10.
I chose V20 since it has lots of PROS and I'm a music lover.
Please help.. thanks.
I've been using the LG G6 for nearly a week now, and everything worked well. I have 4 different Bluetooth devices paired with the phone, a couple headphones, a UE Speaker, my Moto 360. When I paired the phone with my 2016 Acura RDX, the bluetooth app crashes on the phone, and the phone then goes into a bluetooth crashing loop. So every few seconds after the phone restarts the BT, it crashes again and again. I have had no such issues with any other Android phone (Pixel XL, S6, Nexus, Note 7). I tried unpairing the phone with the car and pairing again. I removed all other phones from my cars BT device list. I tried clearing the BT App cache. Rebooting the phone. Nothing worked so far. What is even stranger about it, is that when I go to the G6 settings, and turn off "Media Audio" and use just the "Call Audio", it works just phone. As soon as I turn back on "Media Audio", it immediately crashes and starts the cycle again. I use Google Music for my service. Not sure what I can do to fix this issue.
I have the same problem but only in youtube..when i watch something and then dissmis it blutooth crashes and then it reconects again but no force closes after that..until next video and so on..even when i hear music and stop it crashes for one time and thats it..really strange i hope lg will fix that soon
Could be something going on with the hardware. I'd exchange the phone.
Having the same issue with a 2015 MDX. Haven't found a solution yet.
When playing music to a BT speaker, it seems to require a skip of tracks before the music starts playing. After that, it see fine. The MDX, though, it all cuts out - both phone and music.

Very odd. I've streamed for over 5 hours on two different days to a UE Boom and Oontz Angle and haven't experienced any issue. I know this is drastic, but have you tried a factory reset?

Yes, as well as deleting the connections and repairing them. The G6 seems to have evened out with other BT speakers - works without issue it seems - but continues to struggle with the Acura system.

I drove a 2013 Civic for awhile and had issues with the blue tooth in that car. I wonder if it's a Honda thing. Volkswagon's blue tooth sucks as well, that and their overhead dome light assemblies squeak and rattle - that drove me nuts. Toyota's blue tooth just works.

Tested the G6's bluetooth on a 2015 Acura TLX and it has the same issue as the OP. Shows BT connected, turn on Google Music, start a song and Bluetooth crashes. Bluetooth eventually restarts and song plays for a second and crashes again. No solution found.
There was another user on Reddit that stated he had the same issue and restarted his phone a bunch of times and it fixed the issue. This however did not work for me.
For reference, I have a 2014 Chevy Malibu, and while I haven't experienced the same issue with bluetooth crashing, I do not get a steady stream through the car's audio. It seems to be isolated to LG; I had the exact same issue with my G5, and it's been no different with the G6. I also have a Samsung GS7 and it streams through bluetooth just fine. Based on what I've seen here and in other threads, I believe this is a software issue that LG can fix.

I've not had this issue with my Bluetooth on my mazda cx5. Or my audio receiver at home. Interesting. Mayne update your cars infotainment system to the latest version?
I've used mine with 2014 eXcelon and 2006 Alpine with kca-100BT adapter and neither has had issues.
Bluetooth is a highly inconsistent technology. Even when devices supposedly support the same profiles, sometimes their Bluetooth stacks or hardware just don't work well together.
Hopefully future updates will fix this issue for you, or, as lg3FTW mentioned, maybe there's a firmware update for your stereo.

I think it is. I just got the LG G6 and I'm having the same issues. I did some research and it seems the problem is mostly occurring on the Honda/Acura cars.
This is incredibly frustrating. Hoping someone found a fix or an update comes soon to solve the problem. Not being able to use the hands free bluetooth is a dealbreaker for me.
I got the new update today (H87310d) and it did not fix the issue. In the meantime I have signed up for Spotify as I cannot use the Google music app in my car.
I have found one odd way to get to it work. If I leave the phone far away from the car where it is still able to connect. The connection will be fuzzy but I found the app will not crash.
I think it's most likely an issue of BT4.2 trying to connect with older BT versions... Honda probably uses the old 3 or 2 even on their devices.
I've had similar issues with other phones and with other stereos as well, my old S4 had this issue with a 2009 JVC head unit with BT2.0, streaming would just not work properly, if I switched to my other car with a 2014 Kenwood HU with BT 3.0 I had no issues.
Having same issue with my Pioneer head unit. I have two of them in 2 different vehicles and the same issue happens. For some reason with Google music it's worse than others. I can play music fine but if I switch to another station of track the BT crashes and reconnects than keeps playing again. Same happened with Spotify but less frequently. I called LG and they were no help. With my Lgg4 I had some BT issues in the past with some firmware Versions but not this bad. With the latest version it was working fine With these head units. I really like LG phones but hate the bugs they sometimes have. Hopefully they will fix soon. Wish they could just get a log and figure out the issue.

Or, I dunno, let us unlock the bootloader and the community here could fix it once we had root
Isn't there a way to contact LG regarding this? This IS a defect. Surely there has to be a way to record/log this for them to fix.
I just recently purchased a LG G6 and I am also having connection problems with Bluetooth. I drive a 13 Honda Accord and while playing music the app shuts off then back on and repeats this process.
FYI I was having the same crashing problem streaming via Play Music with my G6 to my 2105 TLX. However if I stream using DoubleTwist bluetooth works great. So my problem seems to be isolated to the Google Play app. Odd.

My bluetooth crashes with all my devices (omaker speaker / LG headphones / FM adapter in the truck)
any app will do it Audible amazon music the default music app Play music all of them crash the bluetooth
if you ignore the notace it will continue to play for a bit but it eventually disconnects and reconnects
like someone said above if I skip to the next song sometimes the music comes back .. very annoying indeed.
O and my phones less than a week old
