after downloading kit Kat, my n10 will no longer see attachments. Had no problems in 4.3. Also cannot set the default on my third party app. Hangout seems to be the default and will not relinquish. I am a newbie!

Hey everyone,
I have the most up to date Google Hangouts (1.2.018) at least it says so by reconciling b/w phone and play store online.
But I can't seem to find the SMS/MMS setting feature? I'm running stock, and i've gone through every option in the settings menu.
Any ideas? I guess I can root, get titanium and delete and reinstall? Or am I just missing something.
EDIT - I'm on TMO

You have to get the hangout apk. That comes with android 4.4. Install as regular app and your good to go.
Sent from my VS980 4G using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I used it, needs more attachment options. When so, it will be my default if it's still as fast.
Just head here to get the .apk with full SMS/MMS functionality. Working on my D800 Beautifully:victory:
I figured as much. Articles kept saying 2.0+
Looking forward to the Kit Kat update (crossing fingers the rumors are true), but until then the apk will have to do. Thanks everyone!
Hello, Im running KitKat 4.4 on my nexus and I can't seem to see any of my emojis. The keyboard is there, and when I insert them, I can't see them but my friends can and I cannot see their emojis either. Another thing thats going wrong is my Google search seems to crash every time I try to access it. Please help with this issue.
Nexus 4, KITKAT 4.4
I hear ya about the GOogle Search Crashing... and Newstand.. and Goggles... and well I think thats actually it for now.
The Kit Kat update was waiting for me yesterday evening, and was installed. This was from Google, not something done before arriving on it's own. So far, the update seems to be more frustrating than welcome.
PC keyboard didn't work, but found an app that is ok.
Main problem at the moment is not being able to follow a link on a web page to a youtube video. I tried with Xscope pro and with Chrome. As I understand, Kit Kat does not support Flash, whereas 4.3 did. Previously, Xscope with a Flash add-on would open the Youtubes in a browser window. Now it tries, but gives a "can't load" message and does naught.
The question; Is there a simple way to have a browser send a link to the Youtube app when a link in a webpage is clicked on? Can the Youtube app be used as an add on?
The N10 is pure stock, and I am a bit reluctant to get into the guts of the Operating system

Bump.
Anybody got anything?
After updating to KitKat, every time I tried to follow links or share something it would default to Twitter and never popped up with that "Launch with" dialog. Per some research, I went to Settings > Apps > Chrome (or browser of choice) and changed the "Launch by Default" setting, but that still didn't clear it up. I ended up having to uninstall Twitter and each of my browsers, and reinstall them to fix it.
It might not be the same thing you're experiencing, but maybe your browser isn't launching the right app and that's why they won't play. This could fix it.

Giraffeteria,
The problem you describe is different. The following fixed/worked around the issue with flash being unavailable in 4.4 for me;

I've got my nexus 7 rooted with Paranoid Android 4.4.4. but the rom doesn't seem to be the problem as it does the same on CM11 also. Ive tried using google dns and resetting my modem which seemed to work for a few minutes but soon went back to the same problem. Does anyone know the solution?
If I open Facebook in chrome it loads just fine. The play store only loads some of the images and usually slowly.
thanks ahead of time for any solutions!
Just wondered if anyone else is experiencing lag on android 5 on the grouper nexus 7? Some apps fine then some apps like google + and Facebook start to load and just force close after a delay.
Is there anything I can do?
Running stock ROM
Thanks in advance
I'm having the same issue as well with some apps and just overall lag. Apps will probably be fixed once developers for the apps update to support Lollipop and work out the bugs.
Thanks TheSocialGuy.
Since back on Kit Kat, I realised Facebook bogged down my tablet.
So, unfortunate as it is, I just don't use Facebook on my Nexus 7 any more.

I also stopped using the Facebook app and switched to a webview app instead. Works pretty smoothly on the N7 http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-facebook-browser-t2864561
I noticed Facebook was the issue as well. I couldn't even use any app that used FB. Even Friendcaster rendered my N7 unusable.
I am also experiencing a lag with almost everything since installing Android 5. Start up is much slower but power down is now very quick.
