[Q] Strange Undervolt on Nexus 7 - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I have old Nexus 7 32 GB WIFI, with Tegra 3 CPU.
Here are the condition :
- JB 4.2.2
- rooted
- Stock ROM
- Franco Kernel 3.1
- Stock Recovery
There are two strange thing, I found :
1) It seems that my Nexus 7 don't have all CPU freq, for example, there is no 1200MHz freq
2) How low can it be under volt? take a look at the attachment, I UV -400mV, it is stable, but can it UV really low?

Flash latest kernel and cehck the kernel thread for possible problems/solutions.
Franco kernel have different cpu frequencies then other kernels.

It doesn't make sense to have every frequency increment. UV has been broken in Franco kernel for some time now.
Also, you didn't specify which version you are on.

Thanks for all your reply guys,
I think it is a kernel problem that doesn't work with UV, forgot the version, cause now hase changed to MKernel, seem UV working correctly.

[mini Guide]How to easily overclock Cpu and Gpu on XXLSA and XXLSC :)

Thanks to tegrak now we can easily overclock our note.
Lets Start...
1)First download Tegrak Overclock from playstore.
2)Open the app and in the main window press "Load Overclocking Module"
3)You are ready!!!!
You can easily go: (this are max frequencies, non recomended and stable)
CPU @ 1,6Ghz
Gpu @400Mhz
Lock your gpu @267Mhz
Change Governors an Io schedulers.
Undervolt
Undervolting and Gpu Oc is available only on paid version
Ps:Many thanks to altae for posting this in another thread
Great and use. Nofriils for boot at startup thank

Anyone tried? Does it work??

I try it just for game, and work fine sure
Tegrak NOT works with some kernels. For example, it doesn't works with CM kernel or any STOCK kernel. I'm using it, and I'm using HydraCore kernel. Be careful when you Overclock/Undervolt your CPU or GPU. If you reduce the voltages too much, the note will freeze.
Just to warn....
edit: i just saw the title is "on xxlsa and xxlsc". I didn't know it works with stock (or Philz) JB kernels. Could someone confirm that? Thanks
Overclocking-Undervolting is to do with care. I knew Tegrak 1 year ago... I've uninstalled it, because of easy unstability if not the correct values applied. We must read something about this before apply any value!
The best way, INMHO, to overclock, is to flash a Notecore or Hydracore OC Kernel, whose values has been adapted by developer to our Notes. And use CPU Master or SetCpu to create profiles.
To play with "volting" is an adventure...
Tegrak works on stock (philz) JB kernels. Stock vídeo player dont work if you use Tegrak. Its the only issue i have found.

You need the paid Version to clock the GPU to 400 MHz...

Notecore or hydracore dont work on TW JB roms.

Undervolt also? And oc/uv for gpu? Is it works also? It would be perfect!

I thought it was stable on jb, but it is far from it. Mine crashed and boot looped. Had to restore.

I don't know the reason for your crash, but maybe you undervolted too much (or your cpu simply doesn't support the OC until 1.6).
I can give you the oc/uv values i'm using everyday (all perfect, no freezes or anything else). You can try these:
(my note has cpu group B and i'm using the hydracore 7.5 maxfu, but i guess those values are okay for almost every note with cpu group b and them don't depend from the kernel you're using)
[CPU]
1400 = 1225mV
1200 = 1150mV
1000 = 1050mV
800 = 1000mV
500 = 925mV
200 = 900mV
100 = 900mV
[GPU]
400 = 1000mV (i'm using this gpu overclock since few days, but it seems to be stable enough)
267 = 900mV
160 = 850mV
[SCHEDULER]
cfq (it was "noop", but i wanted to try this "cfq")
[GOVERNOR]
pegasusq
Everything with "set on boot" ON
Temperatures are ok, even with OC on cpu and gpu. (I remember you i'm using asylumPhoenix rom)
Maybe it will not solve your issue, but you can try
We cant download from playstore in our country
Any chance to have mirror link for download tegrak app?

guys be patient, dont judge JB from their leaks
stock JB will be a better experience
once the sources are released there will be more kernels to choose from......

I could give you a link to download it, but you couldn't use it because you need to buy the full version. The free version is needed ony to know if your kernel is compatible with the tegrak app

You can overclock THE Cpu with the free one, too. But GPU OC is not possible, nor undervolting is...

Franco kernel max cpu doesn't stick?

So I purchased the Franco Kernel Updater and am setting the max cpu frequency to 1000 Mhz (and setting it to save on boot) but it just won't stick, always reverting back to 1300 Mhz once stressed. Tried switching governor from interactive to ondemand, and deadline to noop but to no avail.
I've also tried Trickster mod but it's still not saving the max frequency either Strangely, setting minimum frequencies (other than 100 Mhz) seem to stick...anyone know why?
I'm running a N7 3G 4.2.1, with Franco kernel r38 and Paranoid 2.99 beta 9.5 rom
Grab the powerhal fix from here, that will sort your CPU issues

Thanks, I'll give it a shot
EDIT: After flashing, rebooted but did not seem to work. Still reverts to 1300 mhz. Tried rebooting a few more times, tried a different powerhal fix (by motley), updated busybox and superSU, reinstalled Franco Kernel Updater even. Any other options?
Just tried it here and restarted. Franco's app and tricksterMOD are both showing 1000 max. (Trickster showed the cpu cycled to 1200 for a sec when it opened but then it went back to 1000).
You said you tried reinstalling the apps but did you try reflashing the kernel? IDK.
ETA: in Franco's app it shows max CPU @ 1300 but when you click on it to set it 1000 is still selected.
I had that problem with changing GPU speed.
Try cleaning data of that app or reflashing kernel, it seems to be r38 bug
I tried what you guys suggested, clearing the data off the app, and also reflashing the kernel but it's still not sticking.
I rolled back to franco's kernel r37, to see if it was just an issue with the latest version but same story. I'm completely stumped
Could it be the Paranoid rom interfering with the kernel? Or is the kernel's latest version r38 not compatible with the Powerhal fix (since it was originally meant for lean kernel?)
The powerhal fix is not kernel based, rather it is os based so you shouldn't have any issues there with compatibility as such.
I have not used Franco kernel or the updater for a bit, so all I can suggest is setting the frequencies in trickster then going to settings and enabling 'set on boot' option to see if that works.

Yea I did try Trickster mod but it's the same. So I guess Ive thrown in the towel and will just have to stick to the full frequency range and undervolt across the board. Thanks anyway for the help guys.

Best settings for Franco Kernel

hi guys I'm new at kernel section. I flashed Franco Kernel over PA rom. Can someone suggest me some CPU GPU (and if there's a more section that we can change for better battery life and performance) settings ?
There's no need to double post this again.
Leave the settings at default and give it a couple of days.

[Q] New perseus kernel update. Worth overclocking ?

I just updated my S4 i9500 kernel to the latest 'Perseus-alpha 1'. I got the STweaks app i got on my old S3.
My question is , with this new kernel update , we can overclock the big cores from 1.6 up the way to 2.0.
It already heats pretty much with 1.6 clock speed. Is it worth overclocking to say 1.8 or 1.9 ?
If yes , what are the recommended voltages ?

It has OC / UC feature it depends whether u want it or not
Some use for high score some for fun exploring more option on a device
I personally would say use it till 1.6 or little lower which keeps ur device more safe battery friendly out of danger which Overclocking myte cause pursues kernal are best as it's without any modification by us

Well, Bricked have a beta version for it.And faux, ak kernel.
Franco also released a 4.4.3 compatible kernel a few days ago, check out his g+ profile for a link to it.
