Just a quick, stupid question about messages on the lock screen - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Wife just upgraded to an AT&T S4. I have a modded S3 so its a new phone to me.
She asked me earlier why she can't see text messages on the lock screen. If I send her a message, there is a "Message" window that pops up on the lock screen that says "Messaging" with the time, and below it says "New Message"
When you click on it, it fades the screen except for a large white square section that is totally blank. I'm assuming where the message should show. Is there a way to view the contents of the message on the lock screen? Feeling pretty dumb, I'm not a phone n00b at all...but I'm stumped.
Screen shots:
Once message is received, this shows on lock screen:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

Go into the settings for the messaging app and enable "preview message". That will fix your problem. As for the box, it's the box in which you must swipe to unlock. When you press the message, the box will pop up, swipe on the box, and then continue to the message. Hope it helped!

(REQ) Delivery information SMS showing as popup window and deleting then?

Hi,
is it SOMEHOW possible to improve the sms delivery notification? I had that activated on all my previous phones, but its bugging me that it comes simply as a new sms in your inbox, not like the message sent-information that pops up as a small window.
So is it possible to, like, recognize the sender of the delivery notification as it may be the same everytime and show a little popup windows when this sms arrives saying "message delivered" and then disappearing and deleting that sms from my inbox?
Hm... want to push this.
To clarify, I am thinking about something like this, just like the Message Sent Notification but for Message Delivery.

have a look here...

same app here
http://www.jgui.net/smsreportseraser/index.html
was easy to find with the search
Yeah but this only erases reports as I notice. But it would be neat to have it also show a little message like the one I created and maybe even delete when I press OK

Yeah, I noticed that too... First time I installed it now...
I will keep an eye out for another app...
It would be nice to have a small visual notification also...
please let me know if u find anything else
I mean this program you showed me is exactly what I need, and I mean if it recognizes notifications in the inbox, it can't be that hard to create a little pop up everytime a notification comes in. click it away, delete the notification, bam that rocks
Hi,
thats the programm to do this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=258130
The report pops up and you can delete it with one click.
Additionaly you can configure an own ringtone or only vibrate for it.
oh well thats exactly what I want. Works only for WM5 it says, well let's try that on the Diamond.
works perfect on diamond

doesn't work on mine
Guess it's back to 'sms reports eraser' for me ...
yeah doesnt work for me also.
Well I can live with that sms eraser here, gave it a try. It's okay - my notification is an sms sound and then it erases after a minute.
Do you guys get a delivery receipt per popupbubble
AND
a sms report (real sms)??
Is there a way to only have the popup bubble?

[Request] Titanium SMS viewer tab

Would it be possible to have a text tab to read all your SMS's?
Something close to the M2D/M3D SMS tab:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The CHome and CText tabs already do something very close to that when you receive a new message:
It -should- be as simple as re-using that, but I cant find any clue of how that is displayed...
OR if we could use flash inside the Titanium tabs (sigh) it would just take message2reg.exe to display them... :/
i would like to see this
I need to bump this. Hopefully someone capable will see this
ill bump for this one too.. would be greatly appreciated.. also for email
this needs a bump..swiping to view next message would be cool
There is a limit to number of pages a plugin can display, so showing all the messages is definitely out but you should be able to show something like "Most Recent n unread Messages" (~n<20). Would require hooking into State & Notification Broker to get notified for new messages as they arrive.

even last 10 would do t for me and if there are more maybe it could display "tap for more"
i would bump for this too.. something missing out of current titanium..
Any progress on this. I too would love to see it.
Would be great if it was expanded view like in the WM7 theme so you can read more of the message, and simply flicking left or right goes to previous/next message. Then the soft keys are compose new and view all messages. Clicking on that particular message takes you to that message thread.
i have this under testing
Looks promising!

Wicked! let me know if you need testers
i would love to be able to swipe through different users in the order of the last message received, per thread, with a pic of the person above it.
oh hot damn!! that'll rock!

Is there a way to make a shortcut or some button that will take me straight to the sms screen that i get when i press the "all messages" button, and the "inbox" one for email. The preview thing that you can flip through is neat and all, but not the best way to shoot off a quick sms. Running touch x-treme rom btw

Yes, in your start menu, there's icons for "messages" (not "messaging", that's different), and "e-mail"...you should be able to create shortlinks for those just like any other link that's in your start menu. I just tested it on mine and it worked fine. If you have multiple e-mail inboxes setup, clicking that link will first ask you which inbox you want it to take you to...but otherwise those both will bypass the pretty-but-useless Sense interface for those
Thanks for that, I got the email one, but for the life of me cant find the messages icon you mention, there is no mention of it in the start menu. I was gonna flash roms again tonight so i wont worry too much about it untill i find the one i like.
i was looking for this too, thanks!

Hmm, I'm guessing the ROM you are/were on just had a different msg client on it that didn't put that link in the start menu. I notice on my TP2 the icon with the same function is called "texts", so look for that maybe...?
If you look in the /windows folder on your phone, you'll probably find either "messages.lnk" or "texts.lnk" in there, copying whichever one you find to /windows/start menu will make it possible for you to then create a quicklink to it.

You do realize that when you are at the messaging screen that shows the fancy animation you can hit the button in the upper right to make a new message, without having to drill down into all messages and find the person
I like it when it shows me the different threads i have with different people, like it did on my g1, and i only have a few people at a time that im messaging so its not very hard to find the name i want.

[q] sms in lock screen...bug ?

hi,
got my s4 yesterday.
just a quick question:
when i get a sms in lock screen, i click on it..a translucent white window appears below it without the message contents.
i guess the message contents should be visible in it.
please refer the image attached.

anyway to fix it.
i am on stock-unrooted-untouched rom.
please help!!!!!!
thanks.
anyone??
someone??
I don't have the s4 yet, but I know on my Nexus with the jellybean update usually what happens is you click on something and that box shows up, and then if you unlock from there it will go straight to that option selected. On my Nexus though the lock slider thing is in the box.
In my pic I selected the clock, and if I unlock it will bring me to the clock options.

Just remembered that the s4 doesn't have the lock icon but you touch the screen and slide your finger or whatever. Did that work?
Not a bug. Just a 4.2.2 feature!
It is prompting you to slide your finger in that box to unlock so that it can take you to messages!

i have the exact same question and i also thought it is a bug. However some people report that they touch the message notification on the lockscreen and it takes them straight to the messages.

How can I fix persistent sms notifications?

Ok when I say persistent I dont mean that they will not go away I mean that I have to physically aoPEN the actual text for the sms notification to go away.
Example.
Got a message from t mobile about jump somethong or other. I looked at my lock screen and saw the text. I then put my phone back in my pocket since I am not allowed to have it out at work and later I open my phone and slide down the notification menu and see it there as well so I slide it off. Later I open my lock screen and its tgere still.. I open my messaging and hover my thumb over the message revealing the entire message to me and yet this still does not clear off the notification.. I have already read the message in 3 different locations at this point and I now have to physically open the message tonkeep it from showing up bothbin the lock screen and on my notification area.
This is super anoying. I would like to be able to have my phone realize that I have read the message by swiping it off the lock screen or at a minimum slidint off my notifications window. Having to physically open a text message that says "ok" is drastically annoying. Any help would be great.

I agree. That's why I use 8sms, I can set it to show in my lockscreen or notification drawer and when I'm done reading it I'll just click "read".
