I installed froyo on my nexus yesterday. I had some issues with the install, mainly with my SD card not being recognized, and instead of just pulling it and reinstalling, I reverted to my nandroid backup. Anyway, to make a long story short, I wiped and installed 2.2.
First thing I did after that was try to download flash. Market wouldn't allow the download, saying "not enough space". I then proceeded to restore my backup from titanium, which oddly enough worked fine. There were a couple of apps I didn't back up, hancent being one, and I went to market to install, and got the same message. I cleared the market's app data, but no change in result. I then deleted some apps, but this also didn't help.
Where am I going wrong?
On a side note, I figured installing to SD would fix this, but can't find the option!
Its in application manger

I see in manage applications a heading to see what's on the SD, but nothing is on it, and I font see where there's a way to set that.
The space thing is frustrating me though...there's plenty of space!
hey guys. i was using the phone, browsing xda. saw on another board about neocore so went to download it from the market. while it downloaded i also downloaded nenamark and got it installed and ran it while neocore still said "installing"
i tried to stop the download but on market it said "installing" in grey and couldn't cancel. then went to applications manager to force close market and clear data/cache, and all the apps were showing as "computing" and never computed. i couldn't clear the data/cache from market, it said recalculating and stayed there.
i tried updating some other apps through market and all of them stayed on installing.
so i went back to a backup i had made earlier today. wiped data/cache/dalvik twice, nand restore.
same issue. everything stuck on computing. none of my sd apps are showing in LPP's drawer. nothing opens from the homescreens either. in sd card storage the card shows as mounted but when i try to unmount it force closes.
can't access the memory card through the phone but can through Amon_RA's MS Toggle function.
any clues what happened?!
i'm going to try reformatting the card, but this is a new 16gb that i've had for about a month or so only.
any ideas are great!
EDIT: moved everything out of the sd card. reformatted. put the files back. same issue. now i wiped cache and dalvik again and reinstalled netarchy's kernel. booting up now...
ANYONE?!
BUMP...
PLEASE GUYS NEED HELP HERE.
i've wiped and flashed, reformatted the memory card. reinstalled the kernel. same result.
what is missing?!
the memory card is working fine other than within the phone. works in amon-ra ms-toggle and on my computer.
HELP!!!
BUMP.
57 views and no answers? come on i know someone here must know what's going on.
I tried flashing my rom against over this one without wiping data (hoping not to lose my apps) and the apps stayed there. but after a reboot the same situation happened.
i wiped and restored my nand backup again. same thing. the phone "sees" the sd card but wont read from it. twice yesterday night after a long time (maybe 1-2 hours) it would suddenly see all the apps and everything would work. then i rebooted, and back to the same issue. then it picked up the apps again. i unmounted the sd card and remounted, and again the same issue.
it's all connected to the phone not accessing anything that's on the SD card, yet not giving any errors when it's "Preparing SD card..." or when I go in to see the storage information.
the memory card is accessible through amon_ra and when I take it out of the phone. reads/writes/formats just fine. so the memory card is fine.
i'm 100% sure it's a software issue. something is messing up and I can't pinpoint it. is there a file/process responsible for loading apps/dependencies from the sd card?
i can make phone calls, texts, etc. everything that's on the phone's memory works. so i'm being patient trying to find a solution to the problem (i.e. keep using my current rom and data) without starting all over.
let's work this out.
I'll buy a beer to whoever can help me fix this
Have u tried deleting the backups from a aosp rom? Try it to see if it works. Sign into ur google account. Go into the privacy setting and Deselect automatic restore and uncheck the other option.

Some how you screwed your symlinks.
Put a good nandroid on your old sdcard. Restore your from it. Down load Titanium back up from market, DO NOT MOVE IT TO THE SDCARD. Test it. Unmount the old sdcard. Shutdown, swap sdcards, reboot, run market doctor from Titanium Backup. You will then have to reload all your apps from market.
You could do the same from a complete cold reinitialization of the phone. Just skip the restore and replace it with a complete wipe, without the 16gb, but with the original sdcard. Proceed from there with the Loading of Tibackup from market...

If nothing else works I'll try your idea but it defeats the purpose of my post. I have over 200 apps, a good portion of which are not from the market...
I need to fix the problem from within my current rom...

Market Doctor found no recoverable links.
when I load Titanium Backup it says it's finding 310 user apps but only 61 are showing under backup/restore. all my non-working apps are showing there greyed out with a line through them. so titanium is acknowledging they're not installed...how do i install them?!
EDIT: this didnt add any new links to Market. but even trying to install the links that were already there (for paid apps), everything still gets stuck on installing. with the other sd card i was able to install titanium backup and root explorer. before i changed the cards...any new ideas?

The gray, lined out apps just mean that the apps are not installed.click on menu then on batch then screen down to restore all installed apps and data. If an app will not install, it Is stuck without a market link. Look in your download folder on your sd card. Use astro file explorer. You will see several files called download, download1, download2, etc. these are all of the files you downloaded that did not install. Quick click on the files and the manager option will pop up.select it and your file will install. Delete these files after you are done. Use market doctor to fix your links. HTH.

i had already tried that. under batch all the restore options have a 0 next to them and when i run them they say batch completed but nothing changed. there is no .apk files in my downloads folder because these arent files that i downloaded but didnt install. these are 200+ apps that i've had for days, weeks, some even months, that now aren't seen by the phone.
anyone else?

EDIT: fixed my issue. it looks like it came down to a bad file on the sd card. reformatted the sd card again, put back my data files, music, etc, but no android files. then wiped and restored the same backup that wasn't working. worked. reloaded apps from market, reloaded the ones that weren't from market that I had saved on my computer. and since the nandroid worked I have the folder links to all other apps i'm missing so i can download them as i need them.
I'm buying myself a beer!
ive been trying to figure this out since yesterday but i am completely lost and really need help..
this started yesterday. i had my phone connected with adb and pulled some files (LatinIME.apk, framework-res.apk). i did not push or delete any. around the same time i download fx camera. all the work i did was actually just on the computer. the only thing i did on the phone around that time was use root explorer to check the name of the .apk for fx camera.
im not sure if any of that could possibly mean anything but i thought maybe it was worth mentioning.
here are the symptoms. right after i was done the phone was acting sluggish and crappy (it always does when i disconnect from usb since i switched to froshedyo v10) so i rebooted. upon booting up, 90% of apps were missing. i didnt feel like using titanium backup to manually "ok" each install, so i opted for a fairly recent NAND backup to restore to. i did but upon booting up, the same apps were missing.. very weird right? i know they were there when i made the backup.. so now i decided i had to use titanium. but when i began i noticed that it wouldnt install any app. it would hang on the "installing" screen forever. i rebooted and this time tried an app from the market, only to have the same results.
i did try wiping everything and starting fresh (with froshedyo v10). a strange thing happened. after logging in and setting up the basics i left it alone to restore the apps. when i checked later i had the notification, "applications partially restored". i never had that before.. it seemed like maybe a few more apps were there, but not much. i was mostly in the same boat. and again, titanium backup and market would not install any apps..
please help.. whats going on??
---------latest info--------
i wiped everything and tried to start fresh with a brand new copy of nonsensikal 16.1. no apps were restored, and i am unable to install or uninstall any app on the phone. it will just hang on the installing/uninstalling screen.
i have done multiple wipes and flashes, testing each time to see if anything is working, but it has not worked once. i can not install or uninstall any apps.
Were you using Apps2sd? I wonder if it could be something with that. Especially if your rom seems to be fine. Is everything else showing up on your sd card?
the file manager on the phone shows all my sd card contents just fine.
i believe when i first installed this rom about a week ago i did find an option somewhere in settings that said "choose location to install apps" (i chose external) and "allow moving of apps to external" (i chose yes).

oooh, i would love to download that app from the market if it might fix my inability to download and install apps. if only i was able to download and install apps..

I don't think you have a market problem...it sounds like an sd card issue which would explain alot of the symptoms including issues when unmounting from pc. If all your apps are installed on the sd and the card doesn't mount right they will "dissapear" as you have described. Try changing the setting to install apps back to internal and then apps should install. If apps install after you do that it probably means the sdcard is corrupted so you will need to back up the files on your sd and then reformat the card. PLEASE remember to back up the sd card before reformatting since it has your nand backups on it. The market fix is only a fix for apps not showing in the market not on the phone.
lol its ok rhamej.
i think i should clarify though that i do have a market. it may be worth noting that i used to have a blue themed market, which during this problem seems to have reverted to the stock green market. but i do have a market.
when i try to install from the market, it just kind of stalls when i accept the terms and permissions needed by the app. like, when i click the final "ok" which should then lead to the app actually beginning to download, it just stops. doesnt freeze the market or FC, its almost like the button is unresponsive.
when i try to install an app via file manager from sd card, it hangs on the "installing" screen. same with titanium backup.
----------developments------------
i couldnt stand not having my apps so i did a NAND back to nonsensikal. my apps were all restored this time but im still having problems installing.
from the sd card: hangs on install.
from the market: now will download, but hangs on install.

we must have been posting at the same time but these all still sound like what i mentioned in my above post. Your apps are back with nonsensikal because they probably weren't installed on sd when you made the nand for that rom.

lol posting at same time again...you are probably typing right now...try rebooting the phone also after the setting has been changed....for some reason froyo depends too much in my opinion on the sd card and really can cause issues with it.
quick question. what format should my micro sd card be in? i know i formatted it right around the time i got it, to FAT32. im assuming thats correct but i would like to double check. google isnt answering my question fast enough..
still no progress.
i wiped everything, flashed a new nonsensikal 16.1. apps didnt automatically come back. i can not install or uninstall apps on the phone. they all hang on the installing/uninstalling screen.
how could this have happened? how can i fix it? i will gladly do a more thorough wipe. i wiped data and davlick. what else could i do to completely reset my phone to fix this problem? that is assuming that there is no other ideas of options.. i hope there is!
edit: in regards to previous ideas, i reformatted my sd card (FAT32) and replaced all the files.

You could try the flashback 21 file here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=792026
That should take you back to stock and replace your custom recovery with the default one. You could then re-root. I don't know if that's what you want, but that would be about as complete of a reset as you could get as far as I know.
Does anyone else know if this is the best option? I would hate to mislead...
I had a problem similar to this after I dropped my phone. I could not install any apps (market or .apk) and reading of my SD card was spotty at best. What fixed it for me was first deleting the .android-secure folder on the sd card. [NOTE!: this may delete some/all apps/app data you have so I hope you have a backup]. I have no idea why but the .android-secure was not happy at all ;] I believe you have to delete it on a computer because android file managers just can't do it.

Did you put all your files back on your sd card after reformatting it? I would try reformatting the card and then see if it works before you put your files back on. Like the previous poster said the android_secure folder could be messed up and if your copying it back could still cause issues.

There is a link talking about doing this on the op of my floyo rom thread
well that android_secure thing seems to have been the problem! thank you guys very much! i just deleted it and rebooted and i am now able to install and uninstall apps, both from the sd card and market.
it got to the point where i couldnt connect via usb unless i was in recovery so things were getting pretty frustrating. im glad its over. any guesses what might have caused this craziness?
Ok so I don't know if anyone else has had issues with their SD card since the update but I've been constantly having problems. When looking at my pictures i'm always gettin the "sd card not present." And I think it has been causing issues with me downloading and updating apps too. Anyone else been having these troubles and if so...any solutions? Please and thank you for any help.
Since my phone is rooted... and I have root explorer...
I know one of the problems you're having is the card is mounting itself read-only... no idea why...
Though since I figured that out... I have other problems...
I wish I could go back to eclair... it worked solo much better on this piece of ****

Hmm, yea that's weird. I don't know why it does that either. But I agree...Eclair ran so much smoother. And I could install more apps on my phone...this thing has indeed been trash....
I had some similar errors, they seemed to be related to link2sd and the upgrade. I completely formatted my sd card, remade the link2sd partition, and reinstalled froyo directly instead of updating from eclair, and haven't had any problems since.
Reinstalled directly from where?? How???
Using RSD Lite, I flashed the Froyo sbf. Specifically, it's SAGE_U3_3.4.2-159.17_SecATT_SIGNATT_USASAGE02B25ND0ATTNA02E.0R_SAGEFRATT_P011_HWp4_1FF.sbf. There are a few links to it here on the forums, it's a fresh install of froyo instead of upgrading from eclair, you start with much more free space to work with. Updating the system apps will eat into it pretty quickly, but if you use Titanium Backup to cook the updates into the rom you can keep quite a bit of free space.
Been thru 3 sbf flashes... with link2sd... with apps2sd...
It still ****ing locks... it still ****ing freezes...
I hate being so close to new phones coming out...
Else I'd throw this thing thru the wall

How do you use Titanium Backup to "cook the updates into the rom?"
You'll need a registered version of Titanium Backup. If you haven't bought it already I really recommend it, it's the single most useful app I've had on android. Go into the backup/restore tab, scroll down and find the app that you updated. It'll be listed in red, meaning it's a /system app, but it'll say (update) next to it, indicating the update is on the internal storage. Long press it, and there will be an option that says something like "move update to /system" or similar. Press that, and it will remove the original version from /system, and move the update in it's place.
You can also move apps to /system this way, long press any normal app and there's an option for "convert to system app" that will move it over. I deleted a lot of the bloat apps, as well as all of the default ringtones, and had plenty of free space to move some of my most-used apps over to /system.
Right now, I have 26.1 MB free in /system, 60.5 MB free in /data, and something like 300 MB worth of apps on my second SD card partition.
Ok I'll try that using Titanium....did you delete the ringtones using Titanium or Root Explorer?
Man this crap somehow made my data worse...I deleted some apps and moved some to system and now I'm almost out of storage....Integrating the update into Rom screwed me up!
Hi all,
I am using Moto g4 Plus with Resurrection Remix ROM - v5.8.4-20170824-athene-official for last two weeks. I love this ROM. There is only one issue I face which is forcing me to re-flash 2nd time in 2 weeks. The internal memory usage keeps growing and it fills up. I know it could be a rouge app. But I can not identify which.
My storage is encrypted as I use my corporate e-mail in outlook. Would that be a problem?
I used Titanium Backup Pro and moved all the high memory apps to SDCard (mounted as extended storage). Now the highest memory users listed in Storage is all google apps - but they dont add up to total.
Settings->Storage->Internal Memory says
28.59 GB out of 29.12 used.
Apps : 3.57 GB
System 4.26 GB
Cached data : 43.32 MB
When I installed the ROM and all apps from Titanium Pro back up it was only 15 GB. In a week it grew to fill the area. I did a clean installation again and it happened again.
Is there a tool/log where I can look for what is occupying the 28.59 GB and what keeps growing?
Thanks

Try fx file manager or any file manager, which will show you the usage stats and also created and modified date w/ it.
If not able to find out backup only app and not data from titanium backup.
See if the issue is resolved and check data(storage of per app using Apps2SD)
Apps2SD shows all the data consumed by a particular app w/each detail to wants.

Thanks. Apps2SD keeps crashing - so I couldnt use. FX file manager does not show much details other than SD card. I could see the same information with ES File Explorer with root explorer enabled. Unfortunately it looks like all the information the tool shows as recent file changes are in SD card and they are not much.
What is the mount path for internal storage - /data. Is there a way to see the largest files or recent changes with /data - may be I didnt use fx file manager with correct options.
Within last 2 hours the internal memory got filled up by another GB.

Ok, im not telling you that fx will show you all the details, but the file location and if permitted system info too. Which will clear that which folder have your data ie which app is doing this. Use some stats application for it(sry i dont know any).
But may you properly explain the process like just telling us int storage gets stock up w/o doing anything is bit not understandable.
I apologize as I sent the reply too soon without exploring all options in FX file manager.
I found the culprit. It was a folder related to power logger, which was taking up 21 GB. I deleted Ampere app (I assume it logs power usage) and the folder and I got 22 GB back.
Thanks a lot!

Only if Apps2SD has worked in your phone properly it would have been just a matter of time(like 10min is enough) to caught the culprit. Well good to see you have got your memory back[emoji6]
