Hello everyone it is unfortunate that this has to be my first post on this forum but I need some help . I have a Samsung galaxy s4 SGH i337m **Canadian version** It has been rooted and I have installed team win recovery project ... However I cannot seem to get any of the Roms I want to flash onto my device .. I HAVE managed to flash Cyanogen mod 4.4 KitKat to my s4 but I notice it is very laggy and also it will not allow me to over clock my device it just resets and goes back to standard CPU settings ... I would Either like to flash Gummy ROM 4.4 KitKat or stock ROM KitKat but it will not work for me ... The process I do is this ... 1 Go to the webpage and download the correct ROM for the Canadian S4 and I also download the Gapps ... 2 once the download is complete I reboot into recovery .... 3 I create a backup ... 4 I factory reset and wipe cache and delvik... 5 I go to the ROM and I swipe to install it ... and it FAILS every time it also fails for PAC ROM ... When this happens I restore my backup and connect the device to my PC and I go and delete the ROMs and Gapps that failed to install... I do not understand what I'm doing wrong this is nearly making me regret getting rid of my nexus 4 I never had ANY problems with it .... Can someone please tell me how to fix my problem.... Also if my problem is fixed I WILL be donating to XDA for all the help and support. Thank you.
You need to do a factory reset after your backup. Wiping just the cache and dalvik will fail 99% of the time.

Ok so i just did that i created a backup ... Wiped cache and delvik .... Factiory reset and went to flash the ROM and it says failed so i read it it says this file is for JfLteCan .... I have no idea what that means but I do know I am downloading the ROM for the SGH i337m Canadian Version
OK so I'm not sure if I stumbled across the problem myself or not ... After Rooting and installing team win recovery .. My model number appears to have been changed to SGH M919 is it normal for this to change? I'm downloading the ROM for the SGH M919 hopefully it makes a difference . if not I'll repost .

Did you get the correct twrp for your device. Also get the latest version should be something like 2.6.3.4. Then in twrp do the default wipe, the one where you use the slider. Then flash the rom. Then flash gapps if the rom needs it. Then boot.

hello guys, i am very upset and frustrated.... My Galaxy note auto upgraded to ics 4.0.3 a few days ago. though it had become a bit slow, i mean applications would take a bit longer time to open and sometime force stopped. still it was great... and yesterday i.e, 24/06/20012 my Note downloaded a auto update... after that prompted me to restart... when i did.. it restarted and went to update mode ( where you see the green android )..... after that it rebooted and where Samsung logo appears.... it is stuck there....in few minutes my Phone heats up a lot and Battery gets drained! i tried to hard reset it but with no luck....
please help if anybody has some solution... thanks
Can u use recovery to wide data cache or maybe download latest stock rom then use Odin to put back to factory if u need help let me know

What ics do you want to install? Lpy (europe), lp9(asian)or lp8and lpa(india).:silly:
You need new installation.
Was it rooted? or was it stock without any mods? If its later take it back to uncle Sammy and get it fixed.
Alternatively install a safe kernal via Odin-- i recommend Speedmod k3-3 and then only wipe data/factory reset via recovery.
Then try flashing the Stock Rom you want via Odin. If that doesnt work, you can explore the other options. ATM it is a soft brick, may or may not be the emmc bug..

I give you a warning first. If your not rooted there is a slim chance of getting a superbrick bug( by doing a factory reset or recovery data wipe) as samsung devs says. But if you root your phone that chances is big really big. But there is a solution, after your new ics installation flash safe kernel called speedmod k3-3. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1673072. It will not trigger the superbrick bug when doing a FACTORY RESET OR RECOVERY DATA WIPE, thats why its called a safe kernel. Use MOBILEODIN(get it from the google market) to flash a new rom, you root your phone first to be able to use mobileodin. After that flash speedmod k3-3 custom kernel to be safe.
For rooting ics rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1647148
On how to use MOBILEODIN. See youtube type mobileodin its a visual teaching much better for understanding
bring it back to Samsung for repair, don't do anything stupid if you don't know what you are doing...

Hi guys. Need your help on this one. I flashed the latest omega rom and successfully restored my data. But whenever i reboot or power my phone off it can boot up past the samsung s4 logo. I would have to go back to recovery (twrp) format data. Then restore from back up then it can boot up. I would have to do it every time. I already tried reflashing the omega rom. After wipe but same thing the moment i reboot it will not het past the s4 logo. Any idea on this one. I really need help

U can try two thing first
Go to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache and then reboot
Reboot and see if the problem is solved
If not the go to settings and reset the device and reboot this should clear that problem let me know what happens

Hey everyone.
I moved from Aus to the UK this week and thought Id be clever and install the 3 stock rom to my i9505.
For some reason now, its horribly laggy, i get FC's galore, and the phone is unusable.
I have reflashed the firmware using ODIN a bunch of times, with no difference.I have also tried to wipe all caches and data, but when i try to do the cache, it hangs for ages and says Unable to mount 'data' or unable to mount cache.
Im really at a loss now... I am currently downloading Australia XSA (June 2013) to install to take it as far back to stock as I can but i dont really feel this will be that much different to the other 3 rom *aside from bloatware etc). Am I wrong?
Have i deleted a partition somehow?
If anyone can help me, ill be stoked.

looks like problem with recovery ( i had similar problem with SGS2) but hard to tell .... so why dont you try:
- reset to factory
-use odin 304 not 307
- or flash twrp recovery and than try to wipe data...system...
p.s. my problem with sgs2 was resoved as soon as i flashed twrp

Flashing an AUS rom semed to do the trick. Im still running the stock recovery right now though.. TWRP seemed a little messy for my liking.. the touch options were all over the shop.
I think ill look for a good version of CWM.
cheers!
I just got a GT-i9500 GS4 and I wanted to install miui on it but didn't noticed the release was for i9505, after the installation finished my phone didn't boot up and I think it's bricked. I tried a few unbricking methods like factory reset and cache wipe but nothing helped.
Any1 can help me please, also is it possible to get it to the store and get it fixed because I did a factory reset on it so it's not rooted ?

Thx for the reply but It didn't help.
After trying a few more things I installed CWD instead of Philz touch recovery and it had a restore point so that fixed the problem for me
hey guys,
Im curious to why my phone is constanly soft bricking after flashing a rom, ive tried:
- Pure google,
- Pacmac
- Foxhound
and they have all bricked my device, the only one i have gotten to run is Omega.
I do exactly as it says to do yet it is still bricking my device, I have a Samsung galaxy s4 i9505.
If anyone could enlighten me and tell me what i am doing wrong it would be alot of help.

Do you do the wipes, particularly data, before flashing the rom?
My phone does the same thing, but It gets to the google emblem and just keeps repeating the 4 coloured cirles for ages
if you flash to stock and it still happens than its probably your battery

Im running stock at the moment, it works fine until i put a custom rom onto it
I already post to wipe system with recovery, flash custom rom, wipe data and cache AFTER flashing rom, reboot!
