Hey there, quick question
I have a S4 with touchwiz stock android 4.3 XXUEMJ5 and want to flash the official final version.
If I flash via Odin then would I lose my data, apps etc?
If so then is there another way to avoid this?
Thank you

I always flash TW ROMS through ODIN and never had a issue. Just make sure to download the proper firmware for your region, boot your phone in download mode (volume down + home + power) and transfer through ODIN. There's a LOT of tutorials on XDA.
When coming from Official Roms I never had to wipe anything. The new ROM will update the cache anyway during the first boot.
Good luck!

I'm on a leaked 4.3 ROM and want to flash the final 4.3 ROM. The leaked ROM which I'm currently running is from a different country also.
Do you think any of this will matter?
Thanks

I'm pondering getting a GT-i9505G (Google Play Edition), and was wondering - since the bootloader is unlocked, could I flash a Touchwiz based i9505 rom to this device with something like Mobile ODIN to skip the modem (since I presume it wouldn't be compatible?).
Anyone heard anything about this?

If it does have Download mode you will be able to flash the system etc. And otherwise you will be able to flash a flashable zip in CWM

I was thinking about the same concept, but only a little bit more radical.. Let me explain: I recently flashed my Galaxy S 4 GT-I9505 to a GT-I9505G (I rooted my phone and put android 4.3 on it). The only problem is that it was a test version of android, so it has a few, but very annoying bugs, like a huge battery drain from time to time and some very specific app crashing.
I was wondering if I can flash my phone back to stock, the way I bought it (with android 4.2.2 and TouchWiz skin). Is this possible by flashing the stock GT-I9505 firmware on my device (hence the GT-I9505 and GT-I9505G are almost the same devices), or is there another way? And do I have to root it again?
FYI: I have also made a TWRP backup of the situation right before the flashing of android 4.3, but if I want to do it that way I have to root it and flash TWRP right?

Yes, you can ODIN back to complete stock I9505, and yes, you'll have to re-root, unless you flash a pre-rooted ODIN file.

So if I understand correctly I have to root and flash TWRP, and should be just fine if I restore from that backup?

You should just be able to flash TWRP from ODIN, then restore from your backup. Seems easier.

So here i am with a brand new GS4 GT-I9505 and i thought it would be clever to do what i did with my GS2 and root and flash a custom rom to it (Cyanogenmod 10.1 through TWRP)
Clever me forgot to back it up !!!NOOB!!! (but thats beside the point)
Now im stuck with this rom with wifi doesnt work or mobile data and a host of other problems (Such as every time i turn the device off i have to reset the time and date!)
I have looked on the net for weeks and cannot find a way to revert back to the original stock version of my phone as i wish to have this back with all of its features. Main problem being is that every video or text help that i find is for other versions of the phone. Really frustrating as i do not want to destroy/brick the phone.
Would appreciate if anyone could help me in restoring my phone to its original state/factory state. Am pulling my hair out over this. Im not new to this however step by step would be also appreciated
Details of the device:
Device - GT-I9505 (Orange/EE) Android 4.2.2
Cyanogenmod -10.1-20130509-UNOFFICAL-i9505
Custom Recovery - TWRP
Baseband Version - I9505XXUBMG7

Yes this will work no plm even if u have diffrnt baseband
for example u can flash any latest firmware which is available for any region without any issues "Not China" there some language is diffrnt if I m not wrng
But make sure its only for the variant u have like i9505 etc
Edit I always suggest take a back up of EFS of your device for safety

Installing a pre rooted ROM won't give you stock/factory state.
If you really want your Official EE ROM go to Sammobile and download it.
Download triangle away to reset flash counter and as soon as its reset boot to download mode and flash Official stock EE ROM. No root.

Hi, so i've got a few problems going with my i9505 Telstra S4.
I flashed to 4.3 trying it out then went back to original stock rom 4.2.2 from sam mobile but it's not registering a simcard in the device
at all.I have flashed modem a few times and it picks it up for a bit then drops it again. When I go to reflash the new rom
I go and flash philz and completely data, cache and dalvik wipe the phone befor doing it but after wards when the phone is on the main screen
after putting in the info and plugging into a computer, it comes up with the same name as it did before for the device even though i changed it, not sure if that means anything.
Not sure where to go from here and sorry for the terrible grammar
You can't go back to 4.2.2 stock once you flashed the 4.3 stock rom. The reasons are related to the new bootloader.
I suggest you instead flash a 4.3 rom.. perhaps the BTU one.

You would need to flash the entire package. Please take the time to read up on this process... and make sure the phone you are flashing suits the firmware you flash. In this forum your will find clear instructions on how to flash 4.3 for the i9505 from Sammobile.
Hi
Im new to Android and got some questions. I ´v been reading but at this point i rather ask.
I got an I9505 Int unbranded model on 4.2.2 (UBMGA) knox free. I would like to try out some roms but be able to revert back to stock for official updates in the future.
I would like to tryout GE of the latest 4.4.2 without knox or locked bootloader is that possible?
Also if its possible to install an official 4.3 TW version without the bloatware?
Just need a push in the right direction.
Thanks

You can start rooting your phone and then flash a Custom recovery such as Philz/TWRP/CWM and flash any 4.3 Rom's (Bloatware) you like and make sure its a knoxfree rom. and about 4.4 kitkat it wont work for us Oldbootloader (NOWIFI) since Samsung did not release any kernel source yet . so be patience . Until they relase the Official. Have a nice day.
And If you wanna go back just flash a 4.2.2 Prerooted BMGA stock > Reset binary > Flash a normal Stock 4.2.2

No. Unless you flash a Knox-free custom ROM, but you can't do it with the official one
I have had my Galaxy S4 GT-i9505 for nearly a year now, it currently runs Android 4.3 and I have been trying to update it to KitKat version but it seems impossible. I have tried to search for updates using Kies and using Software update in Settings -> About Device, but it always tell me "The latest updates have already been installed", even though there is a newer update available. Any ideas?
Also: When choosing WDCMA Network Mode in Network Settings, my phone seems to weirdly to go no signal. It would function normally when the screen is on but as soon as I press the lock button, it loses signal and I can't use the phone's network. GSM works just fine though, but the speed I get with GSM is close to zero. Any idea why this would occur?

Flashing a custom modem fixed the internet issue!
Your current firmware is here. Install through Odin to update, but keep in mind you will have to reinstall everything afterward. Note that installing a custom recovery will prevent OTA updates from functioning so if you have a custom recovery installed, use Odin to flash the stock recovery, then try updating.

How safe is flashing a custom recovery image and then flashing a custom ROM? Also, if I flash a recovery image using Odin, does it require rooting to install the ROM?
How recommended is the ROM below:

Your warranty gets void okay?
So if you are really willing to flash a Custom Rom, TWRP/CWM Recovery and a Custom Kernel
Its not going to be so hard actually.
The MOST IMPORTANT part that you will need to do before flashing a custom rom is to ROOT AND FLASH A CUSTOM RECOVER SUCH AS TWRP
Auto-Root from Chainfire which i used also.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219803
that doesnt include a custom recovery. you need to download and flash it for yourself over odin. go search it since i forgot where to find it. lol but a little re-search you can find it easily.
I would recommend you these 3 roms since i use them a lot.
