Until phase 3.
Why not download the zip and flash it like the rest of us?
Because when I tried my phone would boot only into recovery
still waiting here. sideload fails. (check cid failed) and im 100% stock, real GPe purchased new from Google Play store.
nothing yet... uk

Just so you know when you download the OTA it will download the same zip and boot into recovery for you. If you get some sort of errors now you will get them when you try to install the OTA. Best way to install it is to re-install 4.3 stock and than the 4.4 OTA zip.
Seen people mention even with genuine stock gpe's have failures with side loading.
Due to these issues i decided to wait.
Hopefully we can identify when phase 2 starts.

i never thought about this. my phone is 100% stock purchased from Google. I got the 4.3 OTA just fine back when it came out.
why the issue now?
If people want it they just need to go stock 4.3 unrooted with stock recovery. Download the zip and push it to the sdcard. Boot into recovery, hold vol h and press power. I got an sdcard mount failure 5 times then a menu. Choose load from phone storage and select the ota zip you pushed.

yes yes its so simple. you clearly arent reading the posts where people are stating this isnt working. even on stock real GPe already running stock 4.3 unrooted.
Im on an ATT converted model and it worked just fine for me. I find it hard to believe its not working on legitimate GPe devices.

You need S-OFF to manually flash an OTA file, regardless of the phone being an official GPe or a Sense-based phone. No S-OFF, no manual flash
hTC_102...converted to GPE...unlocked, s-off, rooted...just temporary unrooted and installed the OTA from Stock recovery...works...
I received the OTA, and it soft-bricked my phone. Fortunately, I was able to get into bootloader and just ran the RUU...
Upgraded fine

I got it also. 16gb u.s. Wifi version. it was installing & updating android apps as I left out for work.
Any changelog on what was changed or added?
I want to install it but will a root method be made for it. I am not near a computer to use the zedomax root method. Anyone had root while installing this?

suppose I will be able to tell you soon. It would not install originally because of CWM recovery. I flashed the stock and it is installing via Kies now. Will report back whether or not I get root back.
I downloaded and installed, not rooted 16gb.
It said it was bug fixes and about 50mbs or so.

Downloading it now. Will install shortly.

Edit:
Installed, must have wiped cache as all apps went through the updating process. No noticeable differences or problems. Seems to be a tick faster but that's probably just my perception.
I got a notice this morning about the update being downloaded, I don't have root yet, so I installed it.

OK, as expected, lost root. Odin flashed the original cwm recovery back. reinstalled the original root file and and back to being rooted.
Still 4.0.4.
All you had to do was use voodoo ota rootkeeper to backup n restore root file. access to computer not needed.
I was previously rooted with CMW Recovery [N8013]. I then flashed stock [N8000] firmware and the update failed. I have not used kies before, will that install the update correctly? Thanks

How did you flash back to stock? I didn't think we had a completely stock 8013 image yet. I tried reimaging via the root injected stock file, but it did not remove CWM, so the update won't load.
ye i just did it and i lost root but the first thing i noticed that is working faster. also the snote app was update you can upload your own template finally. when choosiing a background on the window pop up touch the little square image on the top right corner and it lets you choose from images in your gallery.

Yup got the update an hour ago, but I'm bummed that I lost my big font settings (was previously rooted), now I gotta wait til 4.4 gets a root, even with "large" font settings in both display and accessability, it's too small.
Just got the update as well, disappointed with the camera still.

Ouch, had you done any upgrading or downgrading or flashing in the past? Do you get anything when you plug it into a PC, if you do it can likely be restored.
Mine updated. Happy to finally get the smart dialer - something HTC has had since Froyo. Not a great fan of the all white notification icons, but I'll get used to it.

What did you do to flash back to 4.2.2? That raises a red flag for me as the upgrade to 4.4.2 would have incremented the bootloader version and from what I can determine you can only safely downgrade to 4.4 (Yes I know there is no 4.4 for Rogers)
I would say it is a brick for certain at the moment, but there is a chance you can recover it, check this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2629057
I also got the update! I'm on Rogers. When I tried applying it, the phone went into an endless loop of booting up into the OS, and then "Powering off." I fixed this by restoring to android 4.2.2 through RSDLite, but I'm wondering if anyone can help me out here. I don't know what is going on...

First I would uninstall xposed or anything like that. Then, I'm assuming you have an unlocked bootloader, so you would need to flash the the 4.2.2 (I assume that is what you are on?) recovery. I'm not sure if having root will do anything. If so, then you need to reflash the stock kernel and then clear the cache and you should be back to stock. Alternatively I think you can also use a tool kit.

1. This is an OTA update (not the full firmware). This means that...
2. You should read the whole OP of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2639102
3. I am not taking responsibility for bricked devices.
4. This ZIP is not flashable via TWRP/CWM/PhilZ...stock recovery is required.

Yes. Reference the "Returning to Stock" section of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2603358. You have to download the whole firmware package for sprint, which sucks because you only need one file. After you have done what you need to do with TWRP/CWM, reboot your phone into the bootloader, then simply run
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot reboot

I unlocked my bootloader and flashed SuperSU. I live life on the edge!
At the time of the upgrade, I had flashed stock recovery and unfrozen Sprint Zone. I had also completely removed Xposed (uninstalled modules, disabled Xposed, and flashed Xposed-disaper.zip). I still had other root apps installed when I took the upgrade (TitaniumBackup and ROM Toolbox Pro). I have verified that they still work post-upgrade without additional work on my end.
If someone gets a copy of the ota zip faster than i upload it please message me a copy of your link and i will update the original post with it.

You need to have a completely stock system and the stock recovery installed. I manually flashed with super user still installed just fine but everything has to be completely stock straight out the box. To manually update you just download the zip in the OP.
1 boot into boot loader by holding volume down and power button
2 use volume key to scroll down to recovery press volume key up will put you into stock recovery with the red triangle.
3 to get to the menu screen in stock recovery you must hold volume key up then press power
4 choose to install from SD card and navigate to where the zip downloaded in this screen power button is used to select your choice. I moved the zip to the root of my SD but it usually will be found in downloads.
5 push power button to install ota manually. Be patient it will take a minute
I had it abort on me first try cause I forgot to change my fonts back to stock so be sure you are bone stock no tweaks or even V4A installed with STOCK RECOVERY.

return to stock recovery, and see if you get the ota link,if you get, download and sideload it
or otherwise you need to wait till next batch of rollout (remember, google sends updates by baches till everyone gets)
or just flash it manually then in recovery !
http://www.randomphantasmagoria.com/firmware/htc-one/m7_google/
Side load it with stock recovery. If stock HTC recovery doesn't have sideload, you can flash it from your internal SD. No need to wait for a notification.

I have an unlocked bootloader and d/l the factory image for 5.1. I extracted the .img files and flashed them with fastboot. Also flashed twrp 2.8.5.1 and supersu 2.46.zip to get root. Everything is working very well and is much snappier than 5.02. You probably have changed something in the /system folder. Flashing the system.img will overwrite whatever is messing up the update.

Thanks for the info on the new OTA.
My N7, grouper, has always been stock, except for being unlocked/rooted. I've always taken the OTAs in the past just fine. Clearly I don't know about this one.
Based on that history, my guess is that, at the very least, you're going to need to flash the stock kernel and recovery to take this one. Time will tell...
cheers,
john
