Flashlight? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sorry for the dumb question but where is the flashlight (torch) app/button on the stock Verizon G2? I use it in the morning while collecting my work things so I don't wake the kids but since activating it yesterday I have yet to find it. Help a fellow out if you could.
Thanks

Dumb question: and for the international version D802? Mine doesn't seem to have neither App nor Widget. Which one are you guys using?

On D802 it's called Flash as well (under Widgets). Did you freeze or delete system apps?

@nomad4ever, non stock camera app or gallery or frozen?

That's weird. I triple checked in both the app drawer (under widgets and apps) and when long pressing on the desktop to add widgets, but it's just not there. I use Apex Launcher and apps frozen are only Google Chrome and Google Play Books, Music, Newsstand etc. I use the stock camera, the gallery is there, although I use Quickpic. Hmmmmm!

I think the Flash is somehow built into the stock launcher. I noticed this while I was transitioning to Nova launcher. Run LG launcher, I get the flashlight, Nova launcher, no flashlight.
The stock flashlight is a Widget only, you won't find it in apps.

Ah, maybe that explains it! I prefer Apex mainly because I could import my home screen layout of my old GNex (too lazy to set up everything manually again) and due to the more aesthetic folder options.
Gotta find a lean 3rd party Flash then... Alright.

Go Launcher - LauncherPro/ADW alternative

I was looking for some good launchers to try out and I came across this new one called Go Launcher.
I've been using LauncherPro from the beginning and thought I would never leave.
Go Launcher is an amazing home replacement app for Android .
-Extremely smooth scrolling
-Convenient icon pop-menu
-Gesture supported
-Useful app drawer to uninstall apps and kill tasks
-Removable screen previews (Up to 30 screens)

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Things I like:
- When adding icons from drawer to homescreen, it shows screen previews first so you can choose which screen you want it on.
- More screens (30)
- Multiple docks
- Gestures
- Recent apps, uninstall apps right in the drawer
- Ability to rename icon labels (or remove labels)
- Replace icons instead of removing then adding new one
Like I said, this Launcher is awesome and is comparable to LauncherPro and ADW for sure!

It seems pretty good after 5 min use... But I can't make scrollable widget work... So I'm back to launcher pro !
If scrollable widgets work, please let me know ;-) !
Impossible to put widgets on any screen. I'll come back to it when widgets and widget resizing is possible.

Zeam Launcher allows scrollable widgets, and is not as laggy as Launcher Pro+. I'm still partial to LPP.

Dev said on twitter, that scrollable widget support is coming on wednesday ;]

How can I remove a homescreen? I only need three, but the default is 5.
Also, I created some icons that I am using with LauncherPro. LauncherPro lets you select icons from the gallery, so I was doing that. How do I make my icons selectable in Go Launcher?
Figured it out. You do the pinch action to see all your screens at once, and you can close them from there.

[help] task manager + launcher problem

Hi, recently Ive encountered a problem. Currently im using ADW launcher.
The problem is after eachtime I launch the task manager by short holding the home button to clear tasks or multitasking apps, when I re-press the home button to go back to the homescreen, the pop up notification to select which launcher will appear.
Ive already tick the mark as the default launcher but everytime I launch back the task manager the prompt will re-appear.
Using the stock launcher will result the same as well.
Ive tried uninstalling ADW, launcher pro and homesmack and only leave the stock launcher, then it returns normal.
When I reinstall ADW, the problem reappears. Mark it as default launcher again still a no go.
Ive been using ADW for nearly a month now on the tab without any problem until yesterday.
Anyone encountered the same problem?
Ur help is much appreciated...
Rgds.

Yes, but the task manager that i am referring to is the stock samsung task manager/recent app thing that you can launch by short holding the home button.
And I think this feature is stock and available in all android device's right?
And Im not using any 3rd party task killer.
Anybody can help? please i love ADW in my tab!! Sorry for being a noob)
Picture attached:
Each time i launch this:

When i re-press the home button to go to home screen this will re-appear:
Found out that each time i long press the home key to go to recent app, the system kills my default launcher selection (kills all launchers even the stock samsung home). then i need to reset my default everytime.
Im lost already! cant find any solution. Is it safe to uninstall the stock launcher and use ADW only?
Any fix guys?
I have both adw and launchet pro and running LP as default and I don't experience the issue.

How to change launcher icons?

I hate the icons that motoblur uses for the stock apps on the phone (camera, dialer, browser, etc.). I have been searching all over for a solution but cant find anything. I'm using Launcher Pro Plus and want to know how I can change the icons that show up in the app drawer to the stock Froyo icons. Thanks!
you can probably download a theme icon pack for lp+
at least on adw that's what i can do..
Go Launcher let u change it with ease

root your phone, download ninjamorph, load up blur-res.apk, find ic_launcher_(app you want to replace).png from an AOSP rom and use it to replace the one in blur-res.apk in ninjamorph. finish project. done.

it's real simple. find some icons you like and place them on your sdcard. On your homescreen (if you are using Launcher Pro), long press a blank area, and choose "Shortcuts". then, at the top of that screen, choose "Applications". Once you find your application (say Maps), then click the old icon above the app name and you can browser your gallery app for a replacement icon. click the icon you want to use as a replacement then click ok. now you have a different icon for that app on your homescreen. This is the easiest way to do it without editing your framework-res files, etc. NOTE: this only changes the icon on the homescreen, it will still be the original icon in the app drawer. It takes a bit of time to do this, but well worth it IMO.
EDIT: I just re-read your OP, this won't change the icon in the app drawer, only the homescreen... [/facepalm]

I don't think it is possible on the Epic without a hack or custom rom. On that note I highly recommend a 3rd party launcher such as Go Launcher, ADW or LauncherPro as they all have a 3D option for the app drawer. I personally use Go Launcher.

you could use this home app from the market.. https://market.android.com/details?...tb28uYW5kcm9pZC5sYXVuY2hlci5naW5nZXJicmVhZCJd
Correct me if I'm wrong but, I think maybe he's refering to the Cube homescreen not the App drawer.
That launcher is SPB 3D launcher and is a paid app in the market. Spinning 3d homescreens on a cube or as many sides as you have homescreens.

Actually I think he is referring to the 3d app drawer, which I think was the standard for the gingerbread launcher. the problem is that I think touchwiz breaks this and disables parts of the actual gingerbread launcher.

[GUIDE] Launching the Multi-Control Panel with a single gesture WITHOUT Root!

For HTC One with firmware 4.2.2 or above, there is a very handy multi-control panel with can allow users enable and disable many features like Wifi, Data, Auto-rotation etc.

"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
However, the stupid Google UI design has made it very slow and complicated to launch the panel with 2 fingers simultaneously or swipe the notification bar down first and press the button to launch Control Panel.
Finally, I figured out a way to launch the Multi-control Panel instantly using one finer
It does NOT require root.
Here are the steps:
1. Download two apps at Google Play: "Nova Launcher" and "Swiping Home Button"
(The second app is a paid app, so you know it...)
2. Launch "Swiping Home Button and click "Binding"
3. You can customize your gesture here and personally I prefer to launch Control Panel by swiping up right (the one with Chinese word)
4. Click on the gesture you like and assign a shortcut to it. We are going to choose "App shortcut" here.
5. Choose "Nova Launcher"
6. Finally, choose "Extended Quick Settings"
You are DONE ! Enjoy the Multi-Control Panel instantly with one finger !
Demonstration Video:
Hey Mate,
Does it mean that Nova Launcher has to be running at the background all times?
I really not sure. But I don't recognize any negative effect in terms of the phone's performance caused by this trick.

Yes. Also, Nova Launcher has gestures as well so I don't get the use of this.

Well, if you use this, then you can still use the Sense Launcher!
