[Q] Regarding Wind Mobile and G2 Model - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just got a G2 from Wind and I was curious, which thread (T-Mobile or Canadian?) I should be using to root, get recoveries and kernels and roms?
The model number says D801, but somewhere I read that if I'm on Wind I need to use the D803 kernels. The more I read about this, the more I seem to get confused. I will be trying to root using this procedure when I get home tonight and should I be using the 803 files or 801 files? And when I get a new kernel/rom, what model number I should be looking for?
Could someone please clarify for me? Thank you so much for any clarification.

Did you have any luck?

FYI for other Wind users... check the link below before you do anything. It will save you a lot of time:

Hope I'm not getting too far off topic... but if I have a D801 from Wind and I switched to Robellus, do I have to root my phone in order to access LTE?

[Q] Is there a way to unlock aws bands on the i9505?

I recently bought a brand new i9505 while on vacation and would like to use it on the Wind network here in Canada. Given that Wind uses AWS bands 1700/2100, the phone did not work out of the box. However, I read this thread that discusses unlocking AWS on i337 phones which have the same hardware as the i9505 (Qualcomm Processor and 4G). The fix didn't work on the i9505 given the difference in model numbers and the QCN files.
Can anyone help me get access to the correct QCN file for the i9505 to unlock these bands? or if you know of another way to unlock the bands, I would really appreciate your help.
Tried already. DIDNT work.

I have the same issue, got phone from 3 UK, i9505 and paplied the process you have in your link and now all other network modes disappeared.
I don't know how to fix it.
I have the exact same problem as the thread starter too. Got my i9505 from HK and would like to get it working on Wind Mobile/T-Mobile which uses 1700 for AWS. I read the same page about enabling AWS bands for AT&T s4 but the model number is different and the QCN file won't work.
Any helps are appreciated
bump for this, I'm in the same boat, any help would be appreciated. I did however, out of curiosity, try the instructions posted in the OP but it messed up my phones radio and couldnt recognize my bell SIM. Good thing i made a backup of my I9505 QCN before flashing the 337_AWS.qcn file, I was able to restore from the back up.

Need help as well
I cannot find a QCN file to save my life for this. I have the nv writer reader program and it works perfectly to restore my IMEI. SaHiLzZ, do you have a file that would unlock ATT or TMobile bands? Or perhaps we can develop a guide of what NV items to modify to unlock bands? As far as I know it is a world edition phone and is compatible with all GSM and LTE frequencies. Mine makes calls on a SIM, but no data.
Me as well, looking for i9505 qcn to enable aws 1700/2100 bands

You can count me in on this.
I am also looking to enable AWS on my recently acquired S4 i9505.
Has anyone tried one of those many tutorials to unlock LTE band 4 on i9505? Sorry for bumping this, but I've found some traces here and there, but no confirmation
I tried it and nearly bricked the phone.

Porting stock L-01F (Japanese G2) ROM to d800 (AT&T G2)

I would like to know if it's possible to port the stock ROM of Japanese variant of the LG G2 (L-01F) to an AT&T LG G2?
I travel a LOT to Tokyo and using my phone on AT&T will just cost me an arm and 50 legs when I'm half across the world.
I'm thinking if I just flash the stock ROM of the Docomo version that it'll work, swap out my AT&T SIM card for a Docomo SIM card - flash the ROM and be good on the go. And when I go back to the states I'll just restore the nandroid of my AT&T stock ROM and slip in my AT&T card.
What exactly does it take to port the ROM over? I'm hearing that just flashing the ROM and flashing the AT&T kernel would work just fine.
Thanks for the help!
Bump, I really hope I've posted this in the right section.
I'm not a developer or anything, but wouldn't you need to unlock your phone for this?

Yes my phone is unlocked but some off the apps that are exclusive to Docomo handsets are locked and some are tied to their ROM framework and such. I tried downloading certain apps to see if I can get them to work on the AT&T ROM but it's a no go :\

LG G2 EE root and roms

Hi Guys
I've just got a LG G2 from EE (UK). I will unlock it first and then I want to root it and flash new rom.
But, I noticed there is no EE (UK) subsections in the forum. Can anyone point me which thread is the right one for me to root my G2 from EE UK?
In settings/about/software, can you see model number D80? and rom software name?

The model number is LG-D802. So I should use 'G2 Android Development (D802)'?
yep..
it's probably sim free too
to root.... ota to latest kitkat, then use towel root and then install SuperSU from the market. Or find the latest ioroot, which is 25 I think, the thread is in the g2 android development section here .. both methods are very easy
then if you want custom recovery for flashing roms just install autorec for your variant, don't use the wrong version. just double check your installing the d802 one. autorec thread is in the development section too.
warning.. golden rule is to never take ota if you have a custom recovery installed, or you will be following one of the more technical threads to unbrick.
note.. these methods are for KitKat.. for jellybean I don't know

[Q] Flash Bell's D803 Firmware on Videotron's D801?

Hey there,
I know both phones are exactly the same and that Videotron's D801 phone is indeed a mislabeled D803 and that it's compatible with almost everything from D803.
But I saw someone who flashed a Telus D803 on his Wind D801 phone and got problem with it.( See here, Post 23 )
My goal is mainly to see if LTE should work without problem and faster than the speeds I'm actually getting(that are more of a HSPA+ 42Mbps network) and also to see what are the build.prop values in this Bell's official firmware!
What should I do to proceed without problem and to make sure I can go back if something's going wrong? The guy in that thread seems to be knowing enough about flashing and it seems like he wasn't able to do anything else than bringing it to repair for them to flash it back to stock?
And about the regional code he's talking about, is it something in the build.prop thing? How do I do
In the ROM(CloudyG3) I'm currently using, build.prop network things are currently as follow:
ro.product.name=g3_global_com
ro.build.target_operator=GLOBAL
ro.build.target_country=COM
I'm guessing I should put it to the following or maybe something isn't good? I don't even know how to backup build.prop!:
ro.product.name=g2_vmc_ca
ro.build.target_operator=VMC
ro.build.target_country=CA
I'm using Virgin Mobile(Bell network)

[Q] Issue with 4G on LG G2 Three Network D80220c-466-92?

Hi everyone,
I have tried to understand the cause of my issue with 4g. I bought LG G2 D802 32GB from eBay. It has the software version D80220c-466-92 on android 4.4.2 KitKat. I live in the United kingdom and am on the Three network. I do not have lte option in my phone settings, when selecting 4g in 4g area through secret menu it does not connect to the service although i should be getting 4G.
Does anyone know what i need to do? Do i need to flash something or root? I do not wish to root my device as i need to use the threeintouch app which does not work on rooted devices.
I've looked through this website but im confused, could i flash kdz or something, not sure which one id go for however.
Any help would be greatly appreciated guys and gals.
Many Thanks
Ham
