How to sync facebook contacts on Pac all in one rom. O - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok, feel lik a ccomplete noob, used to use the Facebook contacts sync a while ago, then deactivated my Facebook account. But only now just realised contacts sync no longer works on Pac rom. Any idea how to enable this to work. So many apps on the play store but non seem able to just sync my contacts from Facebook that's all I want.

Anyone?

[Solved] Problem with facebook-sync (Profiles linked multiple times)

Hey everybody....
since saturday im i proud owner of an i9000 and i love it. What a great phone! But i have two problems with it:
Im syncing my phone with my google account... There i have my calender und my contacts without contact pictures. So i synced it and evereything is fine, until now.
Now the second step: ive got a facebook account and after installng the facebook app, i can sync my contacts on my phone (my google contacts) with facebook and link them. In the facebook sync-settings i choosed to only sync all available contacts. Everything seems to be fine, facebook finds some contacts for itself and i had to link some contacts manually. But now the first issue... The contact pictures of the facebook contacts arent shown in the contact list. i can see that the contact is linked to 2 profiles (google and facebook) but it doesnt show the fb-picture. So the priorities arent right for that. But okay.. I found syncmypix and this is doing this job. its a workaround, not more!
Now my big issue... a couple of hours later i had a look in my contact list again. The people that were linked with two profiles (google and facebook) were now linked with 3 profiles. (1 google, 2 facebook). Still a couple of hours later, they were linked with 4 or 5 profiles... What is this? Can someone explain this?
Thx ín advance!
Donald
Same problem here ... except I have 3 time the facebook profile
You can forget the settings sync all contact which is inside the facebook app.
You just need to go in sync account and select the sync with facebook contact
With this I managed to have only one time the facebook profile
I still don't have the photo but I will try your workaround
FYI, I think this is a problem related to the new version of facebook 1.3.1. I never had these 2 issues before ( but as I changed also the firmware to JM5 ... I am not 100% sure of the reason ...)

When i go to settings - accounts and synchronisation my facebook account is deactivated when is disable the sync within the facebook app... when i enable it in the settings i also activate it in the facbook app. and now, if i try to link a gmailcontact to a facebook contact, there are only my gmail contacts and i cant choose one of my facebook contacts...
? just a little confused... its my first android phone and everything is ... confusing. (before i was a WM-junkie)
Thx in advance!

maybe you should try this.
1. Uninstall syncmypix (because I don't need this to have FB picture and contact)
2. Go to Facebook -> Setting > Don't Sync
3. Go to Contacts > Get Friends > Add Account > Add Acount (you may see 2 different FB setting, but a little bit different in colour) -> Facebook (under "Integrated contact Accounts")
share with us if you get this right

hmm, sound good, but does not work for me either... Now i dont see any facebook contacts in my contact-list. When i pick one of my contacts (that have facebook) i click add link, but i cant choose from facebook contacts, only my google contacts are shown. I found the reason for that... When i go to Contacts > Get Friends > Add Account > Add Acount and add my account i get a sync error....
Good idea, but does not work....
No i did the following, but no success:
i uninstalled this crapy facebook app. after that i go to contacts - get friends - and added facebook again. then i had a look at settings - accounts - see my facebook account but get an error with the sync....
For me, the only way to stop this from happening is to stop the Facebook app from syc-ing contacts. In the Facebook app, go to settings > other settings > don't sync contacts. This should remove the repeated number of Facebook profiles in your contacts. if it doesn't you'll need to reboot. At least until a fix is found.
With every reboot, it adds one more repeated profile to the contact list; if you reboot your phone 3 times you'll see 3 fb profiles.
if you installed facebook app and asked it to sync it can kinda mess up your links.
sgs dont need facebook app to sync contacts and calendar from facebook, it's built-in already so just disable sync in facebook app and then resync all accounts. should fix. worked here anyway.
Same problem that you.
I use European ROM and try to change the firmware several times but it stilll doesn't work.
The problem isn't due to the app 1.3.1 facebook cauz i've already try to synchronise with a fresh Flash, the app wasn't installed yet, but still no success

i can confirm this... I also use european ROM, uninstalled fb-app and tried to sync via buildin Facebook connection. No sync possible!
Same here. FB-app 1.3.1 fault?

Same to me.
everything was perfect, then I upgraded to FB 1.3.1
I started looking in the settings menu, and I noticed a sync option. I activated it, not knowing it was a different thing from the built in FB contact sync of the Galaxy S.
Well, it added several instances of Fb links for each contact (one more every 3 hours).
So I uninstalled FB-app and widget, I cancelled all references to FB from my address book contact list, I deactivated the built-in sync as well, restarted the phone and I tried to use only the built-in sync... IT DOESN'T WORK!!!
There's no way to get the phone sync the contacts/pictures with FB afeter that... I tried everything except reflashing the phone or resetting it to factory defaults
The bug is probably related to FB app 1.3.1+
Does anyone know if there's a directory in the internal memory to wipe in order to "reset" all this mess?

Facebook relaesed FB app 1.3.2... No possibility to sync anymore... But you can use, like i said before, Syncmypix to get the pictures from your FB contacts to your phone contacts.
Another optins is uning Phonebook 2.0 (but i personaly dont like it). For me syncmypix works great is is doing exactly want i want it to...

FB Sync App
The problem I found is actually the FB app. I think by now most of you would know this. I uninstalled the FB app, and instead just use the Contacts native sync to add in FB account contacts...every one on FB with photos is now loaded into my phone...once...
The failure is fixed.. I think facebook changed someting, now you can sync via buildin facebook sync.. and update faecbook to 1.3.2! Then everything will work fine!

[Q] Facebook & Twitter syncing ALL contacts

Hi everyone. New Droid X user here, as I just moved off my Incredible. Setting up the phone and setting up my Facebook and Twitter sync in the phone's settings. On my INC, I was able to tell Facebook to only sync contacts that currently exist on Google. My original Droid allowed me to do this as well.
With the Droid X, I see no such option to only sync existing contacts, so instead it puts ALL my Facebook contacts into my phone book. It's also doing the same for my Twitter contacts.
I tried to disable the Facebook sync from the phone (which removed the contacts) and add the sync through the Facebook app itself. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to have that setting where it was on my INC. I only have options to turn off notifications and that's it.
Can anyone give me pointers here? I want my Facebook contacts sycn'd, but only the ones that already exist in my GMAIL.
I have a feeling this is something to do with Moto's customization. If there's no way to do this, I'll just root the phone and go with a ROM.
You have the Facebook app from the market, right?
As far as i can remember, when you run the app for the first time, you'll be asked to choose for one out of 3 choices after signing in (sync all, sync with existing contact, and don't sync at all). If that's what you want, then you should choose the 2nd option. I don't know if it's any help at all but i hope this works
At first I tried only with the phones version of the sync and it did not work. I've then downloaded facebook from the market and signed in. It did not give me any option to sync and when I go into the settings there are no sync options there either.
Edited: I decided to Root the phone, installed Liberty, and all is peachy.

[Q] (Q?) Why Can't I Sync My Contacts to my google account?

I Am able to sync my Google reader, my gmail and calendar but my contacts dont seem to be able to sync? how can i fix this?
Go to Settings and then Accounts and sync. Click on your gmail address and make sure that all the options are selected including Sync Contacts. Have you already done this?
One silly mistake I made when I first got my phone was I added a bunch of contacts as a "T-Mobile" contact and when they didn't show up as a Google Contact I figured out what I did wrong.
thanks for your reply and yes i have tried that but i just cant seem to get it to sync when i flashed cm 7 the contact sync work but i have returned to stock sense rom but it doesnt seem to want to sync.
Ive had a few different problems like this before so....
Do you mean; When you add your gmail, it doesn't sync and add your contacts that you have saved to your gmail account? Or when you add a new contact it doesn't save it to your contacts on your gmail account?

Facebook contacts don't link wiht my book in 4.03

I have updated my nexus s to 4.03 (on two nexus s) but on one phone my facebook contact want to be linked
When I press "ADD ACCOUNT" can't add any facebook account to link with my contacts on other phone everything is fine.
Everything else is fine.
Google and facebook have some issues with the contact linking process. It can be hacked in but its not in there by default.
could you provide more informations about this hack please ?
it's not that there are 'issues'. google removed fb sync because fb refuses to let you save your fb contacts, so it provides a false sense of security, in the sense that the contacts always sync, but can NEVER be backed up.
if you want to sync fb, use friend caster. There's an app that will also sync profile pics, as well, but I can't remember the name right now.

[Q] Exchange Sync - Contacts & Calendar

I am running the GPE 5.0.1 ROM by @Danvdh and I'm having a problem syncing to my new work email account. I haven't had exchange on this phone before so I don't know if its a problem, or just not possible. In my searches it looks like I might need a few different apps, but that's why I here asking.
I have installed "Bluemail" and added my MS Exchange account info. Email syncs fine, but I'm trying to get my contacts (google) to sync with my work email, along with my calendar. The rom doesn't have a calendar installed by default so I installed "Business Calendar", but I'm not married to it at all, and am more than willing to switch to get it to sync. I also tried "Nine" email app but it doesn't seem to be syncing contacts TO Exchange, (maybe just from it?) And I don't know where its trying to sync the calendar to, but it doesn't appear to be working either. I hope this is all possible because on my old work phone (iPhone) everything would sync up easily and I really don't want to go to an iPhone.
