Copying a file using the Root Explorer
# unzip and put archive contents in a folder called recovery2e on /sdcard/
# first mount -o remount,rw /system (important options in Root Explorer for do this)
# file recovery copy to /system/bin (and replace)
# xbi folder contents copy to /system/xbin/ (and replace)

# remount /system rw (busybox mount -o remount,rw /system)
# rename recovery in /system/bin to recovery3e (for backup purposes)
# copy "recovery" from /sdcard/recovery2e/ to /system/bin/ (cp /sdcard/recovery2e/recovery /system/bin/)
# copy the folder /sdcard/recovery2e/xbin/recovery to /system/xbin/ (cp -rr /sdcard/recovery2e/xbin/recovery /system/xbin/)
# enjoy!

Didn't work for me - used root explorer method. Now just hangs when I try to get recovery mode. Can get download mode ok still, and phone boots ok of course. Running JPM with root and voodoo5 3. Anything else to try?

1, during copy the xbin folder to system, it shows "replace files" but after i check inside the system/xbin, the files are disappared??!! I did manually copy everything one after one from xbin to system/xbin, but i can't see where they are after copy.
2, anyway, i reboot the phone with 3b combo, the recovery mode still showing 3e.
so i say it no works. anyone tried the cable methed?

abd remount (don't know why) isn't working and /system is always ro so adb push and shell (adb shell works) cmd aren't working.
It is correct to remove su and busybox int the extracted folder since i have both already installed?
I was on JPM, followed the instructions.
Phone couldn't boot, lost ability to enter recovery. Luckily I could still enter Download mode, flashed to JPM, but being on voodoo kernel before that, didn't managed to disable lagfix before getting into this trouble - Couldn't revert back to RFS, and without ability to enter recovery to format.
Finally reverted back to Eclair firmware, could see my beloved recovery again. No way I'm going through the above again.
The above is just my own experience, for reference just in case someone is as unlucky as me.
This is the clear step on recovering the recovery2e
Recover recovery2 e
1. uncompress the downloaded file recovery 2e and copy the direcotry to sdcard and rename it to recovery2e
2. Using root explorer copy File recovery from recovery2e on sdcard to /system/bin
3. Using root explorer copy Folder recovery in xbin to /system/xbin
4. If did not work try copy xbin folder over /system/xbin folder
Ok, confirmed working for me on JPM+Voodoo.
I installed Rom Manager too, and CWM Recovery is fully working too!! TNX

Your method DO NOT work at all. I cannot enter recovery mode.
Fortunately download mode is still available.

Here's what I did:
put archive contents in a folder called recovery2e on /sdcard/
open a shell and get root
remount /system rw (busybox mount -o remount,rw /system)
rename recovery in /system/bin to recovery3e (for backup purposes)
copy "recovery" from /sdcard/recovery2e/ to /system/bin/ (cp /sdcard/recovery2e/recovery /system/bin/)
copy the folder /sdcard/recovery2e/xbin/recovery to /system/xbin/ (cp -rr /sdcard/recovery2e/xbin/recovery /system/xbin/)
enjoy!
if using the root explorer method, copy xbin folder content, do not try to overwrite the entire dir on top.

i think u can just flash only the old kernel back and it will be fixed (only zimage).

Is it correct that:
1) recovery2e is the default samsung recovery?
2) new versions of recovery2e can't apply all the update.zip we were able to apply with the older versions? (unsigned, signed??)
3) This is why we need the old recovery2e to replace the new one?
4) Where did the issue started? Since Froyo releases?
5) Is this why we can't root Froyo FWs with an update.zip anymore like it was the case with Eclair?

I'm trying to rename the recovery install script in the /etc folder so I can flash clockwork recovery and have it stick..but my root explorer apps (es file explorer & Android mate) won't mount to my system and I can't buy apps on the market so I can't get root file explorer app..so is there a way for me to rename that with in adb or something and if so can you show me what to type in my cmd...thanx

I found and share with you, it worked.
Have you ever been in a situation where you mistakenly (or not) wiped the content of the internal storage (including system partition and virtual SD card) on your phone or tablet and unfortunately it doesn't support external storage? Now you can't flash desired custom ROM because you removed it and the device can't be booted due to wiped system partition. Don't worry - it's very easy to fix!
Here are the steps you need to follow to copy the correct rom.zip package to your internal storage:
Download this mini-sdk package and extract it to c:\mini-sdk
Rename the custom ROM package you want to flash to "rom.zip" and copy it to c:\mini-sdk
Connect your device to the PC
Boot your device in recovery mode
Open a command prompt on the PC (cmd.exe), type and confirm each command with ENTER:
cd /d c:\mini-sdk
adb shell
mount /data (error might mean that /data partition is already mounted)
on Android 4.2 and above: mkdir -p /data/media/0
on Android 4.1.2 and below: mkdir -p /data/media
exit
on Android 4.2 and above: adb push rom.zip /data/media/0
on Android 4.1.2 and below: adb push rom.zip /data/media
Wait for a few minutes until the file is copied. It will looks like command shell is not responding, but that means it's still copying. Wait patiently until you'll see blinking cursor again.
Depends on your custom recovery, use the navigation keys to flash the custom rom.zip package in a typical way you used to flash custom ROMs. It should be on your internal storage now. Done! http://android-revolution-hd.blogspot.com.tr/2013/12/how-to-copy-rom-zip.html
easier solution:
*bring device in recovery mode
*open cmd, go to adb.exe
*type adb.exe push *filename.zip* /sdcard/your path **/sdcard is already linked to /data/media/0
*wait after pushing the file, reboot recovery again
*choose file and flash
*** other method ***
*use the sideload function in recovery
*adb.exe sideload *rom.zip* in cmd

I have a N9005 which has the stock Samsung ROM, the only modification made is that it's rooted with the Odin method.
I edited the build.prop file, and the system is stuck in a bootloop (just blank screen after the animated Samsung Logo).
I made a backup of the build.prop file on the extSdCard.
What's the best way to get the phone recovered? (hopefully without doing a factory reset).
I tried using ADB but it doesn't recognise the phone (even with Samsung Drivers installed). When I boot into recovery mode the options are:
1) Reboot System Now
2) Apply Update from ADB
3) Apply Update from External Storage
4) Wipe Data/Factory Reset
5) Wipe Cache Partition
6) Apply Update from Cache

Install twrp. Mount system. Copy those build.prop from extsd into system using file manager. Then set permission as as chmod 744. Just play around in the twrp, all of the options(mount/file manager/permission) are in there.
Or flash stock rom with odin.

Is there a way to install TWRP without being in the phone? Most of the tutorials for installing TWRP requires you to install an app from the Play Store
Ok TWRP is installed, how do I go about copying the build.prop file from the backup to the /system directory
In twrp select mount. In select partition to mount list, tick system
Go back to main menu. Select advanced>file manager. Browse to the build.prop in your externalsd. Select the file. You'll be prompted with several options. Choose copy file.
Navigate to system. There is a select button. Press on it. Automatically it will prompt to copy the file.
Back to main menu. Choose permission. Navigate to system/build.prop. select it. You'll be prompted with a few options. Choose chmod 755

I have no OTG, I find a way of flash Lineageos/Pixelextend.......ROM of Realme x2 pro without OTG.
1. make adb works on your computer, mine is Windows7.
2. boot your phone into twrp or orangefox recovery. if you can't see the internal storage of phone, then:
3. on your pc, In the directory of ROM file you downloaded, run this command (you must config windows system environment and add the adb directory first, or you must move the ROM file to your work directory of adb.exe )
Code:
adb push PixelExtended_RMX1931-12.1-20220715-0042-UNOFFICIAL.zip /tmp
the ROM file will transfer to /tmp directory of your phone.
4. in twrp, you can "install" and find the ROM file under /tmp directory.
