hello so i put my t-mobile g2 down for a while, about 15 minutes, and when i came back to it all i saw was a blank screen. so i removed the battery and put it back in and when i turn it on all i get is a black screen. my phone was already perm rooted with cyanogenmod rom 6.1. i dont know what to do now. i hope someone can help me.
does any one have any input on what to do? i just got my phone like 2 weeks ago
Thank you
As silly as this sounds, did your battery die? Try plugging it into a power source and then turn it on. See what you get.

thanks for the reply. yes ive charged it too. i think somethings wrong with just the screen. i can blindly do random stuff with the phone. i can unlock and lock the phone because i can hear the sounds and ive also played music because i know where on the home screen the icon is. i just cant see anything on the phone for some reason. it was completely random. ive never dropped the phone
Anyone have any ideas?
Call Tmobile get a new one

Yeah I did call. I'm gonna go to the tmobile store and exchange it but do you think they'll know that I rooted it since it does void the warranty?

Considering the screen won't turn on... No, I think you will be fine. Plus, not very many people at T-mobile even know what root is.

yeah true that but what about after they send the phone in? Can they still do something if they find out its rooted even after the tmobile store replaced it?
Does the screen turn on while the phone is booting up?

Well, say they do. I'm sure they have better stuff to do then hunt and back track and find out where that G2 came from just to return it back to you and say "No, you can't have that replacement G2. Now give it back." I just wouldn't worry about it to be honest. But that's just my $0.02

I made a mistake SBFing my phone and now I can't get it to boot. When I try to power it on the screen briefly flashes but nothing happens.
If I plug my phone into a power outletl I get the error message "Code Corrupt", with the blinking messages "battery low" and "cannot program".
Is my phone bricked?
Your didn't screw up sort of. Your battery became too low while you were sbfing. You phone is bricked if you can't find a droid or droid 2 to switch batteries with. If you can find one make sure it is charged all the way then sbf again.

This can be fixable but I had it once and had to warranty my phone

get a charged battery and flash it again
You can charge it by a wall charger. USB charging won't work.

I left it plugged into a power outlet all day and the same message is still there. Ill try to get a battery from a friend sometime this week and see if that changes anything.
Thanks for the tips everyone!

Incorrect. I had the same issue as the OP and my recourse was to borrow a battery from a coworker. The phone can't charge the battery if the OS isn't installed completely.
As others have said if there is no OS on the phone the phone cannot charge no matter how long you leave it on the charger. Your only solution is to get a new battery or do the charger hack.

Whats the charger hack? Would be nice to know in case this happens again.
Got a friends battery and SBF'd my phone without any hiccups this time. Thanks for all the help everyone! First time bricking my phone, little unnerving.
Please put [SOLVED] in your thread title. (Maybe this thread should have been in general and not android development?)

I realized that I was probably in the wrong forum after I posted it but I wasn't sure how to move it. Sorry about that

No problem just check before you post. And only moderators can move posts so you'd have to let one know.

Hi,
I've searched and searched and I actually come to the conclusion that it is certainly bricked but all the related answers have somewhat different problems not exactly the same as mine.
Basically I was doing a firmware upgrade from 2.2.1 to 2.3.3 with Odin and it failed right at the end, the phone was stuck on the android download screen and Odin stopped.
I could not do anything, the phone wouldn't get out of that state and Odin was finished. I took out the battery and now the phone does not turn on on any mode. Tried simply turning on the phone, nothing, recovery mode, nothing, download mode, nada... The phone simply does not do anything, it is as if it didn't have any battery.
The conclusion I guess is that it is bricked and nothing can be done other than going down to service but would like to triple check just in case.
Grateful for any help.
Thanks

That's the only thing I have not tried, before doing the walk of shame to SCS I will do that, i will be a little pissed if I butcher a usb cable for nothing but will try and let you know.
Would SCS cover it under warranty if I made up some story about laptop freezing mid update or so?

I guess that if USB JIG doesn't work they won't be able to find out much, so.. possibly yes
Have you tried holding download mode combo when battery is out and then plugging in battery while holding those keys?

I thought I did but just tried now just in case.... Nothing
The USB JIG will do nothing if no boot screen or anything comes up.
You're screwed.

Sounds like a power surge fried the battery or motherboard.
This is why we invented surge protectors...
Today phone return to Austria in service so what they do give new phone or replace something???
was told today in my local Samsung Service Centre that the 'first batch' of N9005s are seeing motherboard failures. It (I assume the motherboard) was replaced no questions asked..

Yes it it is, but what can you do... Phone itself is great but it's so fragile that i'm thinking of selling it and buy Z1 or One, to not be scared that if it drops from 20 cm it will broke...

It's kinda unfair that on ebay a replacement screen for american variants costs about 70€ and for D802 ~170€
