We all know that after updating to 4.2.2 via OTA and the new radio .48 the LTE is disabled. Some users have flashed older radios .27 and .33 and were successful enabling LTE again on our devices! However most of T-Mobile USA users(including myself) are NOT able to get older radios work on stock rooted 4.2.2! After flashing older radios you have usable data connection but no audio in call! I`m not able to hear anything when connected to a call! So far I have tried:
1.Flashing .27 radio and installing the RIL for 4.2.1= no audio in call
2. Flashing .33 radio and installing the RIL for 4.2.1= no audio in call
If anyone has been successful getting it work on T-Mobile USA, please share your steps and methods to achieve that!
Thanks

I had the same issue. .33 screwed up my phone. I couldn't hear anything from the earpiece. Unfortunately I found the reason why and .48 fixed the problem. Anyways, which city do you live in that has LTE from T-Mobile? There are very very few LTE coverage in USA from t mobile. It would be pointless to enable lte if you do not live in a lte coverage area. I don't know why .33 won't work on 4.2.1. It should work.

I live in Boston. I don`t know if LTE is live yet, but I just wanted to try and see. But older radios don`t work....Have you tried older radios+custom roms?

I don't think it would matter if the phone was running on a custom rom with a old baseband. Basebands, bootloaders, kernels and roms are kinda like their own thing, y'know.
Same thing happened to me, had to go back to .48

That's not exactly right though... The kernel controls the radio(baseband)

Yeah!!! What's the deal with that I can't get .33 to work on stock rooted 4.2.2 I'm also from the Boston area.

If you want a solid ROM that works with the old radio use CM10.1 Nightlies . It works great with both radios.

Yeah, I guess we have to jump to custom roms whenever LTE is live in Boston....
bump! Maybe a Dev can give us some more info on that matter???
I've seen the LTE APN setup in the switch as fast.Tmobile.com . I'm thinking you need that for it to work once it's turned on
Flashed .33 too and had no sound. Had to flash back 48
On Tmobile USA too

I flashed Dark Jelly n4 with the .33 radio and it works fine coming from the .48 on t-mobile. (I was on stock originally then got the update)
No problem here but i am using the franco kernel if it matters.

Very useful info! Thanks
Hi all. I just got an N4 on the 11th and it is still on 4.2. I am on Rogers with an LTE package. Will updating the software give me any benefit? It is rooted and was rooted after the APN settings were entered. Will the boot loader unlocking and rooting delete the APN settings? I was wondering if this is why I get nothing better than h for reception. Thanks.

4.2.2 disables the LTE functionality as it has a new radio that does not support LTE. You may however flash an older radio from the 4.2.1 rom, this may cause fc `s however (some users, not all). 4.2.2 as such is however a improvement over 4.2.1.
Every time I flash a rom I lose 3g. I've tried all the touch wiz roms like wanam and pyrana and everything works except 3g. It goes down to 1x. I still have data just not the 3g speed. Any ideas?

hi to help you out here goes,
its more than likely that when your flashing roms this changes your baseband (ie modem/radio)
to fix this you will need to remember what the original baseband was prior to flashing custom roms (ie when it was stock rom)
if you cant remember try phoning your providor who should be able to tell you.
then simply find the corresponding modem here on xda and wheather its a cwm file (.zip) or odin file (.tar.md5) flash that and 3g should be restored.
however which network are you on and do you have a sg4 (reason being is that its an lte phone built for faster web speed so if your seeing a (dc or 4g) all is well.
also you may have your settings incorrect in wireless and network/more/mobile networks
Yeah I'm on the sprint network and have the 9505. So it's capable of 4g lte but that's not available here yet. It is in Detroit and when I've been closer to there I've seen it switch to 4g but it's always on 3g down here in Ohio. I think it's kernel related as I was messing around with the stock rom and different mods like transparent status bar and different toggle icons and I figured I might as well flash wanams new version of the Adam kernel 1.4 and I lost my data connection. On the stock rom. I restoredit and it was back.

I've noticed that my phone is no longer able to connect to the LTE towers that are available to me.
I also noticed that my phone uses "1x" when LTE towers are available (so that's fun)
3g and 2g work just fine but LTE refuses to work
Here is what I've tried:
Reinstall the rom
Do a clean install of the rom
Play around with the apn and network mode
Restart my phone
Update the firmware
Update to the latest nightly
What I'm going to do:
Install the stock rom
And/or install the Google play edition rom
Any ideas why LTE isn't working? And does it work on anyone else's phone?

I remember when i would flash CM10 and any CM10 based roms on my sprint Note 2 LTE wouldnt work it was broke on CM10 based roms well any non TW roms one thing that sometimes would fix the issue is reflashing a TW rom updating prl and profile then going right to cm10 but it would lose lte after a reboot for me still.
Also try a different kernel. Works for me when I only have 3g in an LTE area

Dial *#*#4636#*#* tap phone info and make sure your phone is in LTE/CDMA auto prl mode. Like this.

I'm currently running CM's latest stable build (10.2.0) and MJA. After flashing CM, I've noticed that I've lost some 4G coverage. I'm curious if flashing the MK2 firmware would help this issue or hurt it - don't know if CM 10.2 is compatible - or if I need to find a way to update my PRL manually since its obviously not a Sense ROM.
modems are compatible with ALL roms.
