hey guys,
i just want to ask u guys , since my s4 touch part is not working and i've bought a new phone and until i find a solution for it, i wanna ask you if its possible to backup the videos, images, contacts and maybe apps to an external sdcard using the recovery mode!!
i know there is that option there, but i tried it on a 2GB sdcard it stops with an error offcourse after some while because of having about 10GB data in the phone but when i see the 2gb sdcard it had boot file and backup files in a format that i wasnt familiar with!!
i want to be sure if i bought a 8gb sdcard or 16gb external sdcard will it be worth it to recover that media, images, videos, and contacts from it??
i have s4 gt i9500 and its rooted
plz advice
thanks
Hey guys,
I haven't found any info on the forums about this yet. Does anyone know how to/or have a modified vold.fstab for the stock TouchWiz rom?
I have a general idea on what to do, but I'd rather not attempt this one by myself!
Thanks in advance - zmag

That's not what he's talking about. He wants to use his extSdCard as his internal storage. I used that on my s4 with a 64gb class 10 with awesome results
Hehe well you're correct thatsupnow, but I did consider Link2SD Pro - but I would rather edit the vold.fstab directly (and correctly)
There's also an app on the play store (free) called Root External 2 Internal SD, but it looks like it was made for the GS3 - again, would rather edit the source than install another app.
I am using NextAppSDFix at the moment, until I install Xposed and use the Xposed mod (which I suppose is no different than using the app)
But I havent seen any modded vold.fstab files for the GS5 yet, which honestly is surprising to me. I figured someone would've had one by now...
Maybe there's a rom that has this already? and can be used on the stock ND2 rom? Any input on the subject is greatly appreciated. Just wanna use my 64gb card instead of having 10gb.
Thanks in advance! - zmag
Yeah man development has been pretty slow. I wonder if the mod for the s4 could be manipulated to work on the s5?

You didn't search very far if you didn't run smack into at least half a dozen forum threads detailing various ways to swap the internal and external SD cards. Not to mention threads that explain at length how to edit vold.fstab. However, while vold.fstab maps sysfs devices to filesystem mount points, it isn't a good idea to edit it directly as an update would easily break your mod..
A better method is to swap the internal and external SD cards is to employ a script to remount the two storage locations. Then transpose them using the -bind switch. A script to do this can be found here.
.
Ok, well I meant in the S5 forums - I didn't know that the S4 scripts applied at all.
Sorry for the trouble... I'm coming from an HTC Evo 4G LTE, I'm still getting acquainted with Samsung's file system.
I don't plan on updating from ND2 any time soon. If I do, I usually try and make a nandroid backup first just in case anything breaks on me.
Thanks again for the help!
my samsung s5 is not detecting the microsd
please help.
i tried in other cells the microsd and its working, and with a root software i can see that the cell read the microsd, but i cant use ir and i need more space in my cell.
or if someone please can copy and paste here the vold.fstab for the verizon samsung s5.
thanks
vold.fstab g900v
dev_mount sdcard /storage/sdcard1 auto /devices/msm_sdcc.2/mmc_host
Don't know if it helps
Hi, I have a galaxy grand 2 and as you all know it has only 8 GB internal storage from which only 4.5 GB is available to user.i installed large games like real racing 3 and need for speed. I tried to transfer them to external sd card I used (move to sd) function in settings but it only transfer as apk the data which is about 2 GB remains in internal memory. Is there any way to transfer them to external sd without root cause I don't want to void my warranty.I have pure stock untouched brand new phone.
No... There is no way without rooting.

I finally was able to find a safe root for Note 4 5.1.1 stock rom that wouldn't cause a boot loop , next step was to swap internal by external sd , the sd is formated exfat , i have searched and keep finding outdated tutorials with resources killed by time so please for whomever is willing to help to make sure they upload their resources along .
also i managed to download an app that would enable init.d on note 4 (hopefully) so script solution is available .
I got to understand I can not use the normal route of installing xpose and the swap memory app from google play as still till date installing xpose on note 4 would cause a boot loop , is that correct ?
I can't seem to find vold.fstab on stock kernel , so vold manipulation is unavailable too .
thanks in advance !
p.s , i have seen an older post about manipulating mounts so new apps are installed directly to sd card while still in place but with precaution that if someone copies files to internal memory directly when plugged to a computer the mobile might boot loop i may want to dodge that solution thank you
I have searched more and found a custom belt version for samsung galaxy of xpose , i installed it and installed swap internal memory by sd from app store but yet no matter what it didnt do the swap , so xpose tricks are incompatible .
p.s i never had answers in this forum , why ?
Hello,
Found a cheap new Tab A for like $120. It's the 32/2GB. Looking to not have issues with internal storage. How does adoptable storage work on this device?
Has anyone ran out of app install/data memory on this device due to the 32 GB of internal?
Thx.
you need root and probably it wont work on stock rom
app2sd >partition adoptable>adoptable storage>create >voioa!
try nexus rom posted
