Yesterday I received the 4.4 kitkat OTA update, decided to fully wipe my nexus, and start over with a clean kitkat. After successfully updated, I'm trying to transfer my photos (camera folder) back from my PC, and each time I'm trying I get an error in the Nexus "Unfortunately, the process android.process.media has stopped", and the transfer freezes..
Tried it several times both in MTP and PTP.. also tried factory reset again with full erase...
Anyone have an idea? I can't get the photos back to the phone..
Wipe
Wipe cache. If it not sloved the problem wipe davlik cache, then full wipe. You can do it with stock recovery. If it still not working reflash facrory image.
Dont try to copy all of them at once, i know its a shame, but ive been through there

Hi, today i wanted to do a factory reset and clean install my phone
im using TWRP 2.3.3.3
after factory reset in the wipe menu, at the end i see a line E:/error opening '/data/lost+found'
basically i know what does lost+found folder does in linux, but i forgot whether i have seen such error line before when i do factory resets.
in the file manager of TWRP i then see /media and /lost+found in the /data partition. when pressing into /lost+found, TWRP cannot open it
after this, wiping /system will also give me the same message at the end even it is "Done", as well as cache and dalvik, etc
then i go on flash rom, gapps, kernel, after 1 or 2 boots i go back to recovery and wipe cache, there are no such line anymore
however there is now TWO /lost+found folder in my /data partition
is this a normal behaviour? i didnt pay attention but are there 2 lost+found folders in /data partition for everyone else too?
i have backed up my sdcard and is ready for a /data wipe, any advice is appreciated. thanks in advance!
update: well really hasnt seen it anywhere tried very hard searching on google
maybe just **** happens sometime as i rushed updating the su binary together with restoring android ID in titanium backup altogether without carefully rebooting etc.
factory reset, formating every partition for N times didnt help. returned to completely stock (unlocked bootloader ofcourse), flash twrp 2.3.3.3 clean and no more that line anymore after factory reset. hell gonna start my sdcard restore now...

I was researching google for this same exact error message, when I came across your thread. I doubt you are still having this issue, but I wanted to reply with the solution in case anyone else comes across this post. I was able to solve this error message by installing a new ROM. It doesn't matter which one you install, any will do. Then open your file manager of choice, of course one which can go up to root level. Browse to /data, and then you should notice that you do not have a lost+found folder. However, you should see a lost+found file, all the way at the bottom. I renamed this file to lost+foundOLD, and then created a new folder called lost+found. Next, reboot into recovery and once again wipe both caches, system and factory reset. You should no longer get the lost+found error. Make sure to fix permissions as well to make sure.
just had this issue and was solved by dropping back to twrp 2.4.x.x and doing data format.

No his error and mine are different. We have two lost+found dir and no file. If i delete them and make new lost+found folder. It automatically makes 2.
I am having this same problem. I just did a restore to my last backup, but it in TWRP it says mentions the error over and over again. I looked in /data and I found about 10 files called lost+found, but I do not have any folders. Any suggestions?
Full Format data worked for me

I just encountered this problem after updating a CM nightly and it bricked my phone. Restoring from a nandroid backup would ultimately fail and I was getting all kinds of weird problems (stuck in boot loop, graphics appearing garbled, etc). After looking closer at the logs during restore, I noticed E:/error opening '/data/lost+found' appearing several times, an then it would indicate 'done' and restart but would end up with the same problems.
Even after doing a factory reset, I had no luck in restoring my phone. So I did a factory reset again and installed a CM stable release thinking maybe my ROM / backup was messed up but noticed the same E:/error opening '/data/lost+found' message. However, this time around I managed to get booted far enough where I could connect via USB and backup files from my internal memory to my computer.
At this point I booted into recovery (TWRP 2.5.0.0) and did a full wipe including internal SD using the Format Data option, whereupon I was able to install the CM stable release without issue - no more lost+found error! I then upgraded to the nightly version of my backup and restored with success. Long and stressful night...

All you simply have to do when this happens, is format data ( the one where you type yes ). After this, everything SHOULD be back to normal, for the most part.

Worked perfect for me. Very easy to miss that simple "Format Data" button in TWRP. Simply type 'yes' and problem solved.
I think I got this error when I flashed SlimKAT 4.4 over on my P880 and I had the USB cable plugged in and the partitions mounted (as I had just transferred the install.zip to my phone)

Hello Guys,
I have came back to tinkering with my defy and I understand that Quarx's new rom has some bugs but I haven't seen or read where this is happening? So everytime I reboot the settins are restored (wifi, background, time, etc.). I came from Quarx's 4.1.2 rom with full wipe and fresh install of 4.3 rom. Another problem is that I also flashed TJKV's minimal gapps for 4.3 and market crashes right away and now my browser is also doing the same which it hadn't before. I have been through worse with this phone but now I can't seem to get pass this problem.

Try a clean install. Wipe system, data and cache. Then install cm10.2, and gapps. I generally remove a couple apks from the system partition after installation

Hey there, I did wipe system, data, and cache but I think the problem is that every time I do it in twrp it says failed but it also says completed. The log says that it failed to mount data and system so I think this is causing the problem.
I used aroma to wipe sys, data, and cache before installing rom but still have the same error. Browser and playstore is currently not fc on me anymore and it is just that the settings aren't being saved after reboot.
Good, now convert data and cache to ext4 from boot menu

Hello,
My Defy red lense was using CM10 from Quarx nightly 30.11. Everything was OK.
Yesterday my signal was lost (I thought RIL bug happened) so i normally reboot it. But booting stopped on cyan logo so i put out battery. After this phone booted almost ok but he stayed on "System updating... Running apps" (I translated this from Polish hope you know what I mean)
So I tried wipe Cache i Davlik and after boot was this application counting stuff and then again stayed on this "System updating...."
So I flashed same CM10 nightly. Wiped cache before and after. But it didn't help. Then I flashed some previous builds same way but nothing helped.
The last thing I did was flashing latest CM10.2 and gapps minimal for it. But still nothing. So right now once boot stop on cyan logo after putting out battery it boots further but stays on "System updating.." I waited long time even once I forgot to check and my phone was warm and battery drains very quickly (but I can charge no problem)
So my question is does only RSD help me or can I somehow revive my defy ?
Sorry for bad English.

Try entering recovery and backup data. Then after flash don't restore from twrp directly use nandroid manager to extract data from it. If backup fails at any point that means the partition was too damaged to yield any useful data.

Thank you very much for your help.
I have one more question.
In TWRP I pressed Wiped->Advanced wipe-> wipe dalvik, cache, data, system. Then I flashed 10.2 ROM after that gapps for it. No wipes after flashing or between. System booted up fine. It started with Cyan account then I had to enter google account and phone did restoring and everything was great. Even my apps was automatically downloaded. But I bricked again after I installed SuperSU through recovery (needed for Nandroid Manager).
So again I wiped dalvik, cache, data, system. Then flashed like before. But know its only cyan account config and after that just Trebuchet.
I can add Google account manually but it doesn't have restore option.
Can you tell me what more should I wipe to get it like it was at the first time.
For getting it to account restore wipe data

It didn't help. Just cyan account appear and after that Trebuchet shows up.
Are you flashing gapps again? The restore account appears after a clean install(wipe system, data, cache + flash cm and then gapps)

Yes. I did it like you wrote. In TWRP wipe -> Advanced -> checked system, data, cache, dalvik then Install CM10 and gapps at once (2 zips selected)
No wipes or reboots between ROM and gapps. None reboots after wiping.
Should I reboot after something ? Or wipe between ROM and gapps ?
So what you're saying is that repeating the same procedure, given identical starting points, you're getting different outcomes:what: . I have no idea how that screen is failing to show up, maybe due to full system partition, wrong gapps. I have always been able to restore directly after cm setup even without the elaborate wiping sequence. Not sure why this is happening

Gapps which I used are gapps-CM10.2_ONLY-20130813-minimal_edited_20131023.zip
I don't know if it has any meaning but at first time I didn't have my SIM card inside phone. But later I tried with SIM in and without it.
It looks like android keeps something on SD card or something is not wiped good enough.
I restored the broken ROM and after that I did all the wipe but nothing change. After cyan account Trebuchet welcomes me :/
So next thing I did was wiping data, system, cache, dalvik then I chose factory reset. After that i flashed ROM then right after this flashed gapps (not selecting 2 zips) and after reboot Google restore appeared.
However the apps didn't restore automatically because of this attempts when I add Google manually.
I don't know the exact reason but maybe this thread will help someone.
Thank you for your help.

Hi!
Yes, you can save your phone's data using adb:
Code:
adb pull /data /path/to/save/data
For example, if I want to save my data in a folder called 'data' on the desktop of my computer, I would use this:
Code:
adb pull /data /home/username/Desktop/data
Good Luck
in that matter whenever i see that kind of error like not responing"""""""""""""""
just go to application manager and touch left touch panel (depends on phone) reset app preferances
may it give you out of it. if no than wipe data from recovery or reload os
thnx
regards.
skhan
I cant click anything, it restarts as soon as being opened.
Is there any way different from adb, for example again updating ?

Can you go into recovery? If you can then go into recovery and backup your ROM. After that, get a CyanogenMod JB ROM in you phone from recovery, and install that CyanogenMod on top of aurora. You can wipe cache and dalvik cache. That will not delete your data.

So basically I installed a un oficial lineage os 17 rom in my secondary phone, a moto x pure xt1075 and I did not like the performance, so I decided to install another rom, so I was gonna wipe the Dalvik cache, System, Data and Cache. The problem is that when I swipe to wipe, the twrp crashes and reboots. So now I have no android os and now I have this phone without os. So I wandered if I could get any help on how to fix this problem with twrp.
https://imgur.com/gallery/JMqtiy8
This link is a video showing what happens when I swipe to wipe.
I also tried wiping each Dalvik cache, System, Data and Cache individually and the phone gets stuck and vibrates and reboots.
I honestly have no hope and I think I just broke my secondary phone
If someone tried to help me I would appreciate it.
I also trie searching solutions and got nothing.
