Verizon GALAXY Tab2 7.0 Root

How do you root the Verizon GALAXY Tab 2 7.0 running JB 4.1.2? Just picked up my device today and it auto updated while I was gone from the home..
Look at the root/bootloader/recovery thread in the Development. Quick search goes a long way
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sitesearch.php?q=verizon%20galaxy%20tab%202%20root
How do I get rid of this Custom icon with an unlock icon that shows up when my device boots? On my S3 I just had to unlock the bootloader to get rid of it. How do I do that on the Tab?
Did you follow all the steps in the root/BOOTLOADER/recovery thread?

All I wanted to do was root the device so I did not do any of the unlocking stuff. Do I need to unlock like I had to on my S3 to get rid of the custom unlock icon on boot?

Yep. Unlock or it'll always bug ya.

Happen to have a link to a good unlock?

If you follow steps 1-3 in the root bootloader recovery thread it'll get you rooted unlocked and custom recovery. Lol

Hey Mr. Hyde
I found your thread here on rooting the VZW tab 2 7.0:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1885558
And was wondering if it works for the VZW tab 2 10.1, SCH-i915
I've been scouring this site for months now and still have yet to find a working root. Thanks!
This is a system image from the i705. It MIGHT be compatible with the 915, but I can't say nor do I recommend it unless you get have a stock odin image to flash back to.

Ahh ok thanks! I'm looking for a link on how to make my own stock rom from my i915 because I haven't been able to find any stock roms for it on the forums so far. Just gotta figure out how to do that haha.
Is there a stock image for the I705?
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0
Only the stock rooted version. No leaked Odin firmware unfortunately.

So if anything happens I can always Odin the stock rooted version right?

If anything happens to your ROM, yes.

Thanks for all the help I apriciate it.

I just hope it can still get OTA updates. Nut then we would need another custom kernel wouldn't we? OTA rootkeeper would keep the root.
Another custom kernel for ota? Nah, Just wait for one of us to rape the ota and make it safe for custom users then wait for updated builds.

Wireless Hotspot on unrooted Sprint S4

Ive tried many of the hotspot apps in the market but none seem to work as I always get an error message. does anyone have any suggestions?

Yea I've been wondering the same thing.
Why don't you root and flash the mod ?
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
You need to root then do the mod to get them to work
You can always unroot after flashing the mod if it is that much of a problem to be rooted.
Why not just root the phone? No harm done in rooting, right??
I was just hoping to stay stick for a while, but I guess that's not going to happen.

you can stay stock if you want yet still root. I have yet to flash a custom rom but been rooted since day 1.
Wow, the rooting process is so much easier and faster than on the original evo. It's like I barely had to do anything. Thanks for the help everyone, it was definitely worth rooting.

Nexus 4

Hello, I have the Nexus 4 I am running 4.2.2 and I'm rooted I was going to update the other day to 4.3 but it didn't work. Could this be due to a custom recovery? I am on stock android and i was unrooted at the time.
I was also wondering if there are any good root methods out there I have heard a lot of problems with rooting on 4.3?
Just would like some opinions?
Thanks guys

There's not really any problems just gotta make sure you're following instructions properly. All you need to do is obviously just unlock your device, then push recovery to it then flash root. Obviously the are more in the between steps.

First update your phone to the latest version, then Root it via Odin or .zip in custom recovery

Root without losing everything?

Hi all.
I've had my S5 for a few weeks now and I want to root it, is it possible to do so without losing all my stuff that is already on it?

Root is patching you current firmware without altering your current phone state.
if rooting goes well you won't lose anything.
If you fear, use Helium backup for apps and app data,
and also manually backup your internal storage to your computer in case anything goes wrong.

Awesome thanks for the help guys.
