I just noticed, blandroid rom on the rom manager menu, has anyone tried it on N1? I'm using cm7 Rc4 and I know you'll all say stick with it, but I'm still curious.

I noticed it a couple of weeks ago. It says it's a stable 2.3.3 with no bloatware. Sounds very intriguing...in fact so much so that I downloaded it, but have yet to flash it...lol.
Certainly tempting isn't it, is this a case of who goes first lmao, out of interest how big is it? I notice the cm7s are just over 80 mb.

Seems like a plain stock ROM, nice to see to be honest.
Noticed the same thing, but was wondering what all it supports, site doesn't say much. I.E. what kernel it has/supports, TB alert stuff like that.
Hopefully the dev comes and explains what all he's done.
Well, I flashed it, for like an hour then when back to cm7 using the recovery I made.
First thing, market didn't work.
Secondly it didn't have the extra apps cm7 has, which I expected, but I instantly missed theme chooser.
Thirdly it wiped my contacts list.

First. The market issue is probably a wipe issue as I had the same problem with two different MIUI GB ROMs.
Secondly. That would be the lack of bloatware mentioned above. It's like stock android, so not sure why you even flashed it if you wanted bloatware.
Thirdly. It didn't wipe your contact list you didn't sync with google, becaue all of your contacts are backed up there.
You know what, I knew that'd be the replies I got, to be honest I'm curious of any rom that 1might increase battery life, currently using 85% over 10hours!! And of course the dreaded wonk which is seemingly inherent with cm7.
I couldn't force Google to sync with my phone, all my contacts are stored with Google you're right there.
Btw how would I get the market back?

Blandroid 2.3.4p0 works pretty good. Just curious about this app hidden in the list written in Chinese ...

I think it is another keyboard app. When you go to change the keyboard, it lists something in all Asian symbols.
I just deleted it and I have not noticed any difference with how blandroid runs.
The wonk was almost fixed on latest release of cm7. If you don't have the latest version, try it.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA Premium App
Nearly fixed isn't fixed. The problem is really dragging out and these stock ROMs are showing that its fixed with them. Wonking isn't the only issue at the moment either. There is still problems with the sound levels after docking the phone sometimes where its maximum level is halved etc.
CM is an ace project and I truly respect the guys and their efforts behind it, but CM7 is very buggy, and when it starts to affect the ability to take calls its hard to use it.
Oh! Thx for the reply. I got scared and ran back to cm7

What sort of battery life do you get and is there good support from the Dev?
I could go for no wonk
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA Premium App
I like!
Went for this until the CM stable kills the wonk; now I may not go back. I haven't used it for long enough to know about stability. I think of it as pure AOSP, but already rooted (and a just a few essential CM goodies).
http://blandroid.org/about
So far, I haven't found anything missing I need.
And if you want a bit more eye candy and customization, just install launcher pro or adw.launcher from the market.
I give it thumbs-up!
So I've stuck with BML through several different Roms. I originally rooted because I needed working gps and wifi. I had decided I was going to switch to MTD this weekend but now I'm not so sure. Any suggestions?
If I was in ur spot I would probably just wait and see what happens with el30
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
There's no gps fix in el30 as far as I've seen... just make the move eventually they will have el30 mtd roms within a week or two
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
cm7 or miui ROM is best for me... Im using miui and not switching til cm9 gets here.. try miui rom and u will see wat i mean..LOL
its different with more feature than TW roms has to offer..
Hmmm..I guess I would wait for your favorite ROM to do all the upgrades, grab the modem and then convert to MTD. Should be about a week.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I switched to MTD so I could run CM7, as well as my FAV ROM that I converted over, but besides the loads of extra space, it hasn't been much different.
If you want to try CM7, backup your fav BML setups, convert them to MTD, install CM7, the switch as you like.
But unless you are going to checkout CM7, I would stick with BML until EL30 ROMs come out, then jump.
This Epic post as brought to you via Tapatalk
sounds like a good time to try CM7 or MIUI.US. ran cm7 for a week, switched to MIUI.US for a week.
Most likely the devs will come out with a good MTD rom do you don't have to odin back to RFS to go back to EL30.

Id say just switch to mtd, EL30 ROMs will be kind of cripple or in beta for a bit since mods have to be ported and debugged

After using CM7 there's just no going back... tons of features. Love the ability to revoke permissions from apps.

This +9000. I am readying an MTD of EI22 for my rom, its out to testers to make sure nothing is borked. EL30 is currently low on my list until someone proves it is completely CIQ-free.

lol EL30 is just a fix we have already had on cm7 and most any other EI22 rom for months now i say waste of time stick with MTD CM7 is a dream and with now official nightly updates it gets no better then that.
CM7 sounds really good, but is it ready for daily use in a business? I can flash every couple weeks and need emails, texts, gps navigation and working phone. I don't mind testing and installing different apps but reading the cm7 thread... well maybe it is just some of the noob questions. Is it ready for daily use?

Okay
Emails - works just the same
Texts- the only issue with this is that you have to go into the messaging settings and split messages(not really an issue but there's a fix)
Gps- works better than on TouchWiz ROMs although I've never used navigation
Phone- only sight difference is when a call is ended it says "call lost" mightve been fixed idk don't make to much calls myself. But once again not really an issue, the call still ends the same.
So as you see its more than ready for daily use

Well email app has no way to pick "always show pictures" so using K9 is better.
MMS does not send over wifi with stock mms.apk but works with GoSMS.
Calls end normally now from what I saw.
There are even some ported TW stock apps in Apps subforum.

Ah I see that could be annoying
MMS "over" wifi I believe wasn't fixed I could be wrong but mms while on wifi for me currently works on nightly I don't even remember 14 I think lol 3g comes on and sends over 3g, everynow and then I have to send it twice because data didn't really connect but that's a different issue

Yes, that is what happens but it is more like 50/50, like it doesn't wait long enopugh for 3G to connect. But GoSMS doesn't switch to 3G, sends right over wifi.
I remember reading a change log on the recent nightlies where the mms over wifi was fixed.

I was just wondering if I need a touchwiz based ROM in order to sync with my fitbit. It says the gs4 is compatible but it won't sync with my aokp rom. I'm guessing because of the bluetooth differences?

It requires bluetooth 4.0 low energy which the gs4 has. Apparently the stack that Samsung uses in touchwiz works. I don't see why googles wouldn't.

They just updated the app for google edition 4.3
I just got a fitbit and I love LIQUIDSMOOTH.
I will be Syncing on my PC and tablet till they get all of 4.3 figured out. Haven't been impressed with the development of Google edition ROMS.

Hey, so I found this reddit thread: http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/1ol2g8/fyi_using_a_modified_fitbit_apk_you_can_now/
They link to this xda thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46041881&postcount=26
It is basically a modified fitbit apk that makes it work on more devices. If someone with a fitbit who is currently running a ROM like CM or AOKP could try it out and see if it works that would be awesome.
I know TW never really had quick reply like aosp messaging does, but does anyone know of a good 3rd party app or someway to get quick reply to messaging? I love my N3 but quick reply is the one thing I am missing a lot from my N2 which was using aosp messaging. I wouldn't mind Touchwiz's messaging if it only had quick reply.

Try 8sms. It's built off of AOSP with improvements.

As you said, thats a aosp function. You could try to brign over that mod into N3, however since we can't do a nandroid, i wouldnt delete SecSMS but rather rename it and then try bring in the the aosp one.. just a thought
Until we get recovery it is hard for some of these itesm to be accomplished. And we just got root the other day... Give it a little time sir.

Try out Textra?
super clean sms app with real statu bar notifications, instead of annoying "new message" lol
and quick reply.
I really miss quick reply as well, but I don't see myself rooting my N3. The bloatware I don't want is already disabled and outside of that I can't really think of that much functionality that nova launcher doesn't offer me outside of this. I like the stock messaging apps because I actually get pic messages and MMS unlike any AOSP messaging app I've ever used so I'm not willing to lose that in order to gain quick reply.
If you find a good solution, please post it up !
I would go with 8sms or textra.

Tried that over the weekend, MMS didn't work.
Thanks for all the responses guys. I'm gonna look into 8sms & textra and see what they're like. I'm not sure yet if I'm gonna be rooting my N3 either. I'll probably end up doing so eventually, especially if we get twrp recovery n the bootloader unlocked, but I'm not holding my breath and even if we don't I think I'll still be staying very happy with this phone! With the exception of some minor bugs that are to be expected with new hardware/software, and that I'm sure will be fixed, I think Sammy did a great job with all the upgrades this time around. It would be nice to delete the bloat ware I don't care for like almost all the Verizon apps, but other than that a lot of what I rooted for is either now in the phone or I can get with Nova or Apex launcher. All n all I'm very happy with this phone and its the first phone I may be OK with not rooting. We'll see lol.

Is there a kit kat rom with all of the stock g2 features? I.E. - Knock on, ringtone fade when picked up, flip to silence incoming call, flip to snooze alarm, smart video, etc. You may ask, why do you want a new rom? Well, I have had this phone since Christmas, loving it btw, but after almost 2 months of having it, the stock rom is getting stale, but I want all those features. I also don't like launchers, they all seem artificial to me, even the highly praised ones. If not a rom, than maybe a custom kernal would add some new features?
Sent from my LG-D800 using xda app-developers app
No stock KitKat Rom yet. The reason is that the source code has yet to be released so the Devs don't have anything to build from.
I can recommend AeonFlex if you want a stock base ROM that is awesome. There are several Roms out there. Just give one a try. Or you could also go CM kitkat.
Thank you. I am downloading aeon rihht now, I will sideload it and see how I like it before flashing.
