im using sdk manager with the command prompt thingy
You do realize that the toolkit isn't magical? It uses the same commands. If you have problems doing it manually, the toolkit won't magically fix that.
Update your SDK files.

I don't think you understand. Do whatever. You won't listen anyway.

No, you dont understand.
Just telling the magical toolkit that its 4.2.1 doesnt resolve anything.....
If you have issues manually rooting, the toolkit wont magically make it work....
So what your saying I don't have to download anything at all? Not SDK manager or any rootkits to manually root?

Never mind. All you are going to do is make new threads. All the info you need is here, yet you keep making up new threads asking the same things in a different manner.

Can anyone explain why all mine and my wifes Nexus 4/7 devices seem to get updates a week or so after many of our friends devices.
We have had google accounts longer than most and I can only presume it is some kind of account based thing.
Very annoying.
I've got 2 nexus 4s, and a nexus 7.
No update yet.
I'm in the UK.

Historically it seems to be some sort of randomly assigned token. Ive been passed over but do the google services framework 10 times or so and get it within minutes.
FYI though, dont do that services framework if you are on a device registered on an apps domain with policies. It blows away tokens for authentication and you get errors and have to re-activate your device before it will start syncing again.

Google sends them out in waves. It doesn't matter if you have an account longer than most. When it reaches you, it reaches you.

Just download the OTA file and flash it via sideload in stock recovery. That or flash the factory image. Simples!
+1 to the user above me. I also just sideloaded the OTA and boom got the 4.3 in a flash using
adb sideload update.zip

Stupid question time, but I can't download the ota to my phone and flash it through stock recovery that way, can I? Like how I was able to with a custom recovery on my last rooted phone. Or do I have to flash it through my computer?

Yep, stock recovery has the 'adb sideload' option so you just flash using that as you would using CWM
1. Boot phone into recovery
2. Connect to PC
3. Make sure adb sees it
4. adb sideload update.zip (or whatever you called the OTA file)
5. Follow instructions

it's not rolled out to everyone at the same time.
if it's that urgent, download the flashable zip's from the development thread and flash 'em. There's also a factory image available from Google that you can flash from your computuer.

It's not urgent or anything. It's just that I see threads around saying that they got the 4.4.3 update so I was a bit worried....

definitely or you can download and flash 4.4.3 factory image
Lets be honest here you have 2 choices its either wait and no one here can tell you when you will get the update or just flash images... Or my bad third choice root and flash stock zips out there. Keep rebooting if you are worried about it or keep checking if you have a check for update section. Hard to believe anyone with a N4 that does not root it.... Good Luck my friend

My next doubt is...... Now I've the ota zip file which is around 78mb...... should I flash the 4.4.3 kernel and radio first and then flash the ota file or can I directly flash the ota file??

Use the link I gave you earlier. It'll flash the full factory image except for recovery and userdata. It does not wipe the device

Just use wug toolkit to flash the OTA zip and root after again.
A few computer clicks is all that it takes.
Only things you need to start is to have ready at your device, the zip files of ota and supersu.

OTA update are performed in batches, so after several days, you will get the OTA update, if unsuccessful, you will be shifted to another batch of updates.
