Hello,
I am currently with T-Mobile and own a Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910U model, the exynos variant. Is there a way to enable voLTE on this device through some menu? My carrier supports this feature and I know my phone does as well, but it is disabled because the data drops to 3g whenever I make a call.
Anyone?
On mine is in the menu

I confirmed with Samsung that the device indeed has support for voLTE if your carrier supports it. They informed me that it should be turned on by default, which is a lie because my carrier has voLTE and whenever I make a call, the data drops to 3g.

In Japan......if we bring a self acquired device and use it on their network.......certain feature will not work.
Like VOLTE....as I just discovered. They have a separate APN for other devices and it does not support VOLTE.
The other APN that their carrier branded phones use....recognizes the phones based off of their IMEI number.
So.....it might not be a phone issue. Could be your carrier skimming on certain features for phones purchased elsewhere.
Don't see it on my sm-n910f either
hi all, i don't see the menu in my SM-N910F
In your opinion, Is it possible that VOLTE works only on Note4 Exynos? and doesn't works on Snapdragon based Note4 ?

You won't find it in system settings

Just go to 'Phone' & then tap on 3 vertical dots and then select 'settings' and then select 'call' and after that enable VOLTE
can someone explain me what is the purpose of Volte? for what you use this?

volte is Voice Over LTE. It is basically what it says on the tin. You can make voice calls over LTE internet connections.
VoLTE (HD voice) and Wifi Calling WORKS with the SM-N910T.
I am currently using this device, with "MetroPCS by T-Mobile". As of 01-29-2021, T-Mobile will only allow the SM-N910T to work on their network. The "T" variant only, because it is T-Mobile's own device. VoLTE (HD voice) will work if you use OEM stock Android 6.0.1.
Here's how I enabled VoLTE (HD voice) and Wifi Calling:
Backed up ALL my files.
Removed SIM and SD cards.
Made sure battery had at least 80% !!
(If using a generic battery, it must be 100%. They drain faster!)
Used Odin (v3.13.1) to flash/install lastest Stock Android 6.0.1. (This wiped everything, even storage, pics, etc.) First boot took over 20 mins!
After reboot, connected to WIFI.
Went to phone's Settings, About Device, Software Updates, and tapped Download Updates Manually. This caused it to find a modem (baseband) update. I chose to install it NOW. It did just that, and rebooted.
Powered off phone.
Reinstalled SIM and SD cards.
Turned phone on, and VoLTE (HD voice) was fixed. Whenever I speak with another HD caller, "HD" appears next to their name.
To enable Wifi Calling, go to Settings, More Networks, Wi-Fi Calling, and enable it.
CAUTION / Extra Info:
A few days ago, I broke the screen on my primary SM-N910T. The screen would not light up, and it did not respond to any touches. I went to a MetroPCS store, to move my account to another SM-N910T. The sales rep said he could not move my account to the other device, showed me his computer screen as "proof", and said it needed to be HD voice compatible. I told him both phones are identical, and both had VoLTE working perfectly. Then he offered to try it anyway for $29 (non-refundable). I politely declined, went home, and swapped the motherboards. All is fine again. I shared this story in case you encounter similar resistance, and need to tell the sales rep you are willing to take a (non-refundable) chance. And to warn you that T-Mobile might have made some changes, that I am not aware of. However, I am currently using the SM-N910T.
Recently updated my wife's Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 to 6.0.1 (using Smart Switch), because we switched to T-Mobile about 2 months ago. I am finding that I do not see a WiFi calling option at all. When I go into the Advanced Calling setting (which I thought it was under) I can turn on HD calling and video, but the option above it is greyed out (which isn't WiFi anyway).
Is it able to tell I am not on Verizon and disables the feature?
I have a Verizon G900V S5 that I am currently using with a T-Mobile sim card on the T-Mobile network, I can get voice calls text/data etc, but I cant find a way to activate the video calling because its linked to Verizon its currently on android 5.0 and I cant manually update it from the phone either because it says im not on the network, is there any tweaks or roms to fix these? Also whats the best network mode I should be on to get the fastest data right now im just leaving it on "Global" and using T-Mobiles APN and it seems alright
I am on Android 7.0. See software specs in attached screenshot. Three UK turned on wifi called end of January. My phone is unlocked and bought from Samsung. I don't seem to have the WiFi calling option. I have already checked that you don't need a phone bought from three, it will work with any s7 Edge.
Anyone have wifi calling working with any network on a non carrier phone? I don't see any options for it anywhere either.
Launch the phone app (I.e. The green phone icon), tap the settings option on the top right. For me it's an option just under vibrate.
I'm on EE with a phone that came direct from Samsung.

You should see what CSC/PDA the stock Three UK S7 Edge comes with, I think it is this one https://samsung-firmware.org/download/Galaxy S7/81c4/HTS/G930FXXU1DQB7/G930FHTS1DQA4/ but you should confirm. Then flash it with Odin. It won't trip Knox or anything. You can find out how to do that here on XDA.

I did confirm with three today and have found it elsewhere on the Internet that it doesn't need three own branded firmware. So I don't really want to install it. I was part of the 7.0 beta, I wonder if that has caused issues.
Yes I'm on the same build version. I was also on the 7 beta and the only difficulty I had was locating the WiFi calling option as it used to be located through the main settings.
Do you have to opt in for WiFi calling on Three? I think I may have with EE.

Any joy with three wi fi calling s7 edge
I have updated my unlocked s7 edge as suggested by three, but no wi fi calling available, I have to walk to end of road on holiday cottage could do with a fix. Three in touch no longer works either. Did you get a solution from Samsung?
Wi-Fi Calling works only on H3G Firmware
After few nights of flashing various CSC ROMs, I can confirm that Wi-Fi calling and HD Calling on Three UK appears on H3G firmware only and it works like it should.
Here are few notes after flashing:
XEU - No Wi-Fi calling option, VoLTE icon intermittent, dropping calls after few min if started calling on 4G, keeps switching back to 3G to initiate a voice call.
BTU - No Wi-Fi Calling option, VoLTE icon appears and seems OK when calling over 4G, however no HD voice.
H3G - Wi-Fi Calling option appears in Call Settings and it works! However no VoLTE icon but for sure it makes voice calls over 4G as it initiate a voice call much faster and the radio doesn't switch back to 3G, also the HD icon appears when making a phone call to compatible service number or another phone which supports HD voice - call is sharp crystal clear like on Skype or Messenger etc.
Conclusion: To get all stuff enabled Wi-Fi Calling + VoLTE + HD Voice you need to get your phone directly from Three or flash H3G firmware to your current phone.
H3G firmware luckily hasn't got too much of a bloatware, it can be easily uninstalled or disabled
Please hit thumbs up for me :good:

I found exactly the same when I tested roms, you need the network rom to get wificalling.
I know this is an old thread but still relevant today.
I found pretty much the same thing. WiFi Calling and VoLTE on EE needs the EVR firmware (but I think it may work on BTU as well with Android 8)
3 does require the HG3 firmware
Without the correct match of firmware the option to enable WFC does not appear in phone/settings.
Others like O2 and Voda probably require their own firmware as well.
But what is really weird is if you get for example, an iPhone 6S and put a 3 card in it...WFC just works and the same with EE. No special firmware. Maybe Apple know something we don't
Do you see the WiFI Calling option in Phone Settings with Three / H3G UK firmware on a phone that works with WiFi calling? I can't see any reference to that option on the Three help pages. If so, any chance of a screenshot?
Thanks
I am in similar situation with S7 Edge which currently doesn't have an option for wifi calling. I moved from O2 to Three recently. O2 wifi calling worked and the option was there. It doesn't have the option on Three.
Does anybody know which firmware to flash which will enable this option? I've downloaded both the BTU version and H3G version for the UK. Can anyone please confirm if either of these will enable wifi calling option?
Many Thanks.

I think you have a better chance with the Three firmware, but AFAIK, the issue is that Android phones are coded to a carrier. This doesn't seem to matter with VOLTE but for some reason VOWiFi is an issue. If anyone knows how to get around this, I'd be happy to know too.

Thanks for the reply. I thought the Three firmware would be better but I was hoping someone has tried this and actually got it working. Seems odd that the phones sold direct by Three have this by default but it seems almost impossible to enable if the phone was bought elsewhere. That's why I'm wondering if the H3G firmware I found on Sammobile.com has the feature or not.

Some posts earlier in this thread say they have WiFi calling working after flashing the Three firmware. This does not work on my LG G5, but you may be luckier with a Samsung phone.

I have a couple of Samsung Galaxy S7 edge duos dual-SIM phones in which I have SIMs from different network operators or MVNOs. One is usually a Three PAYG SIM and the other is a Virgin Mobile (now VMO2) contract SIM or other MVNO PAYG SIM.
I am in a poor signal area for all of the networks despite being in a built-up urban area of Aylesbury. I currently rely on a Home Signal unit from Three to cover that network but would prefer to use Wi-Fi Calling for all networks.
What do I do about the secondary network?
Which ROM firmware should I be using?
Why doesn't all firmware enable Wi-Fi Calling and VoLTE for any network?
Ofcom have banned phones being locked to a network from December 2021 but the ban does not seem to cover these issues which are tantamount to locking a device to a network.
Ofcom needs to address these issues before the end of 2021 when some networks will have withdrawn support for their Home Signal type equipment and even 3G fallback for voice calls in 4G/5G coverage areas.
I just now switched from AT&T to T-mobile because I finally got sick of AT&T for various reasons including very high prices. The network lock is removed. How can I get wi-fi calling to work on this phone? When I try to enable it, I get "To enable this service you must confirm your emergency address.". Then I see "Wi-Fi calling lets you make and receive calls over Wi-Fi with your AT&T account. When you use Wi-Fi Calling, information about the country where the Wi-Fi connection is made will be sent to your carrier. Learn more about Wi-Fi Calling.". The last two words are a link to https://m.att.com/shopmobile/wireless/features/wifi-calling.html?referrer=. It seems there's a hangup of AT&T versus T-mobile. What should I be doing to get this working?
In case anyone is wondering, this particular phone is being used because it must be kept unrooted. I have a G900T that has been rooted.
