Wanam xposed wipes EFS? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i know a lot of us have problems with their EFS being randomly corrupted/wiped leaving the phone useless unless you have a backup.
in my case i have found a reason and it is wanam xposed.
luckily i actually made an EFS backup after all the issues and it has saved me.
So basically i have noticed every time i update wanam xposed from the play store and restart my phone i have no wifi, no connection to my phone network and the capactive buttons no longer function.
So every time it updates i have to go into TWRP and restore my EFS backup( and only the EFS backup, nothing else) and everything works again.
i am unsure if this is solely wanam xposed or due to some glitch when using it with TWRP rather than CWMR.
Anyone else had this problem?

although wanam never wiped my EFS (nothing did this so far), i can confirm problems after installing or updating wanam! yesterday i did an update of wanam and afterwards the device was in an bootloader-bootloop. only removing the battery fixed it, afterwards my rom (x-note 5 worked as usual)! the thing is, i had the same problems some weeks ago, also after installing/updating wanam. i guess this can't be random, so there must be some problem with wanam we do not know specifically!

Hmm it may be a TWRP issue, My Wanam hasn't caused me any issues (Yet?) especially with EFS and the likes, however think it may be time to back up EFS just incase!

Update
switched to CWM recovery and updating wanam no longer results in having no radio functionality, so seems to definately be an issue with installing/updating wanam when you have TWRP installed.
not sure why yet, maybe it just doesn't use the same standard commands CWM does
Edit: probably good that it didnt mess anything up as i dont know how to restore the EFS partition in CWM, seems to be no option for advanced backups or an option in advanced restore fo just the EFS

Any problems moving to 4.3 after restoring apps and settings w/Titanium Backup Pro?

I'm thinking about finally moving to 4.3 using a custom ROM (haven't decided which one yet). I have Titanium Backup Pro and plan to restore all my apps and settings after the upgrade. Is this process likely to end in a stable system? I don't have the time and patience to go through installing and configuring everything again, so if it's not a dependable process I might as well wait for the OTA update (and deal with Knox later...)
Thanks!
Don't worry, this is what I did all is fine.
Before anything, make a backup of your internal SD (just in case), EFS backup and all apps with Titanium. Then in Phils recovery select option to erase everything for new ROM flashing. I also did manual wipe of cache & dalvik just in case. Don't worry, your internal card won't be touched, but always better safe than sorry. Then flash MJ5 kernel, and finaly flash your chosen ROM. Then you can restore apps from titanium. I had like 2 apps that didn't work at all after restore, probably incompatible with 4.3. The system is stable 100%. Never had a reboot.
Thank you Dalanik. This is very encouraging to know.

Did you try it? How did it go?
I had faced a lot of issues when I did this recently. My contacts and message apps started to crash. Could have been OS problem no idea, but I was losing all my messages and my contacts. Ended up using super backup and import/export feature. Then on TB i restored only the apps and not the settings or system data. Now its perfectly stable, no crashes whatsoever
If you erase phone completely for flashing, contacts will be restored automaticaly from google contacts, but I'm afraid SMSes won't. That's another thing worth backing up. I used SMS BAckup and Restore, works perfectly, although you can also use Titanium as well.

[Q] Titanium Backup not working on Lollipop no matter what

Hi guys, my Titanium Backup 6.2.0.3 has backed up 80 apps on android KitKat. Everything was allright back then, all backups were verified. So i tried Lollipop yesterday, and i tried to restore those apps. Nope, it just hang. TB was allright, i tried to change everything in settings, every mode etc. but it just didnt work. Nothing. So i flashed SuperSU 2.40, as some people talked about it on the forum (i had Ressurection Remix, last version). Nothing. I changed my ROM, now i have Vanir. TB restores DATA, but just data. It can not restore any app, even without the data. The android installer method works (user installation of apk + TB restore of data) but doing that to 80 apps? Seriously?
I solved it, I wrote a How-To here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/help/how-to-restore-kitkat-apps-titanium-t3005385
So i verified those backup in Lollipop. It says 162 errors. In 80 backups theres 162 errors. I did not do anything with the backups. What's the problem? Why is it corrupted? I don't get it.
So i went back to KitKat and guess what? All backups are confirmed as allright, i can restore them and everything.
I found a solution to this.
Which is?

batch restore
Some apps are not compatible with Lollipop, so when you do a batch restore using TB, take note of apps that breaks the batch restore process and exclude them in the next batch restore attempt. Or else it will keep breaking the restore process. I have used TB on Lollipop successfully.
Thank you very much.

That was not the problem. On the ROM's thread more people complained about the problem, some people even suggested using Helium instead. However, I found a solution that restored ALL apps without any problem from the backups created by Titanium Backup.
Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3005385
No need to do all that. The problem is with Lollipop denying permissions from apps to modify folders and files. Just enter SuperSu and in Settings, under Security, find "Mount namespace separation" and untick it. Then restart your phone and Titanium Backup should be able to back up and restore again.

Installing CWM to create Nandriod hurt phone

Hello
Note 3, AP:N9005XXUENE3, CP:N9005XXEUNE3, CSC:N9005XSAENE1.
Bought it with rooting in mind, and figured they have been around a while so most problems I might encounter would already have been solved.
Rooted it with Odin, no problems.
Installed Root Explorer, Titanium Backup, Xposed and Wanam, Greenify and Adaway.
Tried a few customizations and all was good, spent time with google before doing anything.
When I installed Titanium, backed up everything including system.
Then I decided I needed a Nandroid backup before i did anything silly.
So I've gone with CWM, and after checking on a couple of sites, used 6.0.4.7.tar.
Installed using Odin, no problems, made a backup straight away.
After reboot all seemed ok until . . .lol.
First thing I found was gallery was not able to show pictures, found them in Root Explorer and they opened ok.
Then opened Titanium where the backup was and it just stuck on 'processing app data' , after I granted su permission.
Had to restart phone to stop it, tried reinstall , same thing.
Tried to use the Nandroid backup to recover , but same issues.
Guess I did something wrong.
Any ideas much appreciated.
Thanks

Titanium Backup Strange Behavior? Help Needed

Hi there,
Something really strange just happened.
I have an Edge+, with Arter97´s 10 (X) kernel on an AOJ4 STOCK ROM. It also has xposed installed.
I was trying to do a Titanium Backup of my files (apps + data + system) and it got frozen while backing up spotify (90% completed). I closed Titanium Backup and restarted the phone.
First I noticed that the battery was drainign really fast and that the CPU freq was topped. the cellphone was really hot, laggy, but working.
That was when I missed xposed tools and Supersu. They were missing. I was still with root access (Amplify, which is a xposed module, still works).
In fact, Titanium Backup opens as much as all apps that require root.
Problem is, the phone is still running hot. It appears as if the backup job is still running, but I can´t kill / access it. Titanium Backup opens and do not show anything running.
Ideas? Suugestions?
Thanks in advance!
first try uninstall titanium backup (without deleting your backups) and then you can install it fresh at a later stage
then install advanced task manager or similar to check the apps that running all time, and also check battery stats through settings to find the battery draining app
also I noticed that after flashing a kernel the wifi points saved were frequently disconnected - to avoid this after flashing a kernel, forget the saved wifi and reenter password
if these options won't work flash >stock rom > recovery > kernel (what I did yesterday)
Quick follow up: restored from a nandroid backup and started "guessing" what caused this.
It seems that the problem was caused byt RootCloak, a xposed module I was testing to see if I could use snapchat.
In fact, it was just a coincidence that the problem happened just while using Titanium Backup.

Titanium Backup: why do I keep getting errors when restoring data?

I've noticed two problems that crop up when I use Titanium Backup to restore my apps/data
1) If I try to restore the missing apps + data, sometimes everything gets restored, and sometimes it gives me "X elements failed", where some apps will not be installed. This happens whether I restore on the same ROM that I backed up on (backup on Cloudy G2, restore on Cloudy G2) , or if I use a different ROM (backup on NDM 5.5, restore on Cloudy G2). I thought I found a work around, where I just install the app from the Play Store first, and THEN I would restore the app data. That worked a few times until....
2) When I tried restoring my app data last night after a fresh KDZ wipe, the apps that I restored data on all couldn't start (Snapchat, Amazon, Wechat, SwiftKey). I would tap them, they would try to open for half a second, then they would close. I tried restarting my phone, but with that, I got "UIDs on your system are inconsistent, you need to wipe your data partition or your device will be unstable". I was stupid, and decided to wipe my data partition so I had to restore all my apps from scratch, but that at least hasn't lead to any problems yet.
Does anyone know what I did wrong, or what I can do to fix this? I know for number 1, some threads mentioned that your Android I.D. changes when you flash a new ROM (that MIGHT explain number 2?), but not a lot of people mention this, and it seems like the majority of people don't have this problem. For number 2, I found this thread, but it was too late already.
If possible, I'd like to find a backup app that avoids ALL of these and just lets me back things up and restore easily. Is there one out there?

is a supersu issue, open supersu than go to is setting and not select "name space mount separation" that is selected by default.
Now titanium can work as intended

That will fix both problems that I have?
Try, I was unable to use it untill I change the SuperSu setting and now Titanium is working perfectly, so probably your problem is the same.
Oh I mean, I can use it just fine. It can perform backups. But restoring is a when I get those errors. I'll keep this in mind in case I need to restore to a new ROM, thanks!
