[Q] S pen compatible with root? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, quick question. If I root my note 3, will the s pen capabilities still function if I keep stock ROM? Thanks

Yup, root won't interfere with S Pen stuff.

Thanks
Thanks. Will the root change anything on the phone other than the obvious root access? I rooted my s2 but that's an old phone now and I dunno if the note 3 will react any differently.

Wont reduce functionality

The only thing that won't work like it should is the Knox security program.
It is like a secondry OS that is locked down, you can't even share pictures you take in Knox. As it needs the complete system to be secured to work properly, Knox is killed when you root.
This has no bearing on the warranty void situation however...

Has been known to stop working randomly til reboot, done it to me on my SIII also. You could try swiping your hand over the screen left to right that also works.

Yup randomly does it, you'll notice sometimes it will get stuck on "saving screen shot" and you have to kill it or reboot for it to work lol
As for gestures, I have quick glance and a couple enabled, doesn't affect my battery life tbh. If you're gonna spend over £600 on a phone at least use some of it haha

[Q] Make a flip wallet

If I would buy this: link and put it in the back of my Note 3 and put a really thin magnet in my flip case.
Would that mean that I then would have a super cheap case with screen on/off features?
And if I would press the lock/unlock button when it's locked, would that mean that the S-View screen pops up?(I want to use it like the flip wallet that's sold by Sammy)
Bump...
No.
Sammy puts an identification chip into note 3 and wallets to make sure u dont unofficials

Google Maps compass points in wrong direction

When I use Google Maps, I have to turn the phone about 45 to 90 degrees sometimes for it to point in the right direction. Moving it around in figure 8 doesn't fix it. Anyone else have this issue?
Yes everyone has it, but its simple to solve
×#0×# and u will see "not calibrated" at magnetic sensor
Just stay in the mode and move your device around in all 3 axis until it says "calibrated"

It doesn't say need calibration or anything. But I still have to point the right top corner (~45 degree rotation) to get a true point of direction.

So the black circle should just have a 2 and green line?
Even with that, it's still off. You'd think they top of the phone should be straight ahead right? Cause it's not.
It points north
Teleported from my SM-N9005 from the Enterprise
You dial those symbols from phone dialer? How do you get out of that mode? Is it present in verizon model? Does it remain calibrated after a reboot? Will compass mode in Google maps work properly after this procedure. Does calibrating compass in gps status and toolbox work just as well?
My main concern is getting compass mode in Google maps to work properly.
Thanks!
Beamed from my Galaxy Note 3
I got mine to a blue line and 3, but I can't get it to go any further
This problem remains unresolved. Please see this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50109695 and comment there if you still suffer this issue.

Bummer.. if calibration is lost then there is no point.
I checked in to the LG G3 forums and they have the same problem. My old Motorola smartphones never lost compass calibration in my car. This sucks.

Lockscreen timeout mod?

Hello people I'm asking if anybody knows of a script/mod/app that can change the time the screen of our beast of a phone can stay on while on lockscreen. I'm looking for this cause I really like at times just turning the phone on so I can play with the lockscreen effects. Thank you for any support!!
Try Tasker app. It is great and do a lot of things.
Sent from my rooted Note 3 (N900T) using XDA Premium
Actually it's much simpler than that. All you have to do is enable smart screen/smart stay and as long as the phone detects you're looking at screen, it will stay on.

Tried tasker app it works although it was way too complicated as for the smart stay options they are not for me cause I want the screen to stay on even on dark environments too and I would prefer to save as much battery as possible I think with this app I save more battery but day to day usage will prove that...Thank you both!!!
